Respect to Leroy and the James. The same light shines behind all of our eyes. Two different lives with different stuggles, bought to friendship through forgiveness. Good people make bad decisions. When we die, and our life flashes before our eyes, we will be judged not by the decisions we have made.. but by the lessons that we have learned. Honesty, authenticity and truth towards others and ourselves (often a tricky task!) 👊👊👊
There's a saying that prison officers always said to me and others while I was in prison 5 times to try to make us not reoffend and not feel discarded by society : "there are no bad people in prison just people who made bad decisions", all of us are good in our heart we can all be forgiven and when you get out just take an extra minute to think before you make another decision cos the bad decision making is usually when you react too fast without thinking.....
It is such an emotional video, such a powerful moment. It simply breaks my heart. James is obviously reliving the trauma so overwhelmingly and is also trying not to be bitter or induce any judgment against his past aggressor. At the same time, it has literally made me cry to feel how profoundly distraught Leroy is and how terribly he regrets having had this horrendous part in the story. In only a few minutes their lives took such dramatic turns. Both of them are hurting deeply through this process of finding closure, one asking for forgiveness, the other forgiving. It is a cathartic scene. At the same time, the compassion for both of them is almost painful. A huge wave of sadness drowns me thinking that there are still children out there who become victims of our merciless and ugly world only because they do not have the chance of having a family who truly cares about them and fights tooth and nail to protect them from deceptions and to raise them as strong kind people.
In the US he’d have spent life without parole or the death penalty. Goes to show there should be room for exceptions after all that time, and depending on the person

I was never spoken to about it, never offered counseling or anything, the police refused to do anything as they said "there was no malice involved". It traumatised my Dad who had to take the x-rays of my chest cavity to check for air bubbles before they could operate (twenty minutes lying on my side before they could x-ray whilst they waited for the air to rise). The lad that did it went onto set fire to a girls hair, the hairspray went up whoosh and he also gave her a black eye and got expelled. I later heard a rumour he went onto become a social worker. At the time and the years after it I was rather blazè about it. But now I am not sure if I am alright, whether I forgive and with no follow up care I am not sure what I make of it all now. Seeing comments like yours brings up feelings I don't know how to deal with. One thing I have always thought about in my life is how much of a massive subject forgiveness really is. What it means and how the person you are forgiving should perceive it etc. But with me I have never had the chance to receive an apology or give any forgiveness. Thought provoking reply. Thanks in the nicest possible way. I am ok but I would say more and more the subject of my stabbing has become thought provoking.

I am not sure if I could do what the officer did. Big respect. Looking at Leroy, I really believe him, I genuinly think he completely changed. I am normally pretty ruthless when it comes to criminals but I do think Leroy deserves this normal life and 2nd chance.
But Leroy intentionally tried to murder 2 people and was a violent criminal in every country he lived in. I hope, for societies sake, that he really did change.
@mind5403 I don't mean his hair. But I disagree. I am talking about his facial expressions and his body language and the way he talks. He seems very withdrawn.
This poor cop....clearly suffering with PTSD/Anxiety.
Respect 2 both more Respect and love we need
I am not sure if I could do what the officer did. Big respect. Looking at Leroy, I really believe him, I genuinly think he completely changed. I am normally pretty ruthless when it comes to criminals but I do think Leroy deserves this normal life and 2nd chance.
Thanks for your comment leroy smith author of outofthebox
But Leroy intentionally tried to murder 2 people and was a violent criminal in every country he lived in. I hope, for societies sake, that he really did change. It is honestly terrifying that there are thousands of people out there like that. Just murdering, assaulting, raping, burglarizing, etc. People who cannot respect others should not be in society. We deserve safety.
Atlantic pub was a dangerous pub back in the day alot of dangerous ppl frequented that place!
Such a powerful interview
My overriding thought is… get these lads a beer! How can you sit in a boozer without a 🍺
Wow bless these men 🙏🏿
Thanks for your comment leroy smith author of outofthebox

''Let them hate as long as they spell your name right "

This is epic ladbible.
❤❤❤❤ God bless u guys amazing story
Well done both men 💯
Wow! This would make a great movie
Thanks for your comment from leroy smith author of outofthebox
Big up both of dem
Disgraceful that he asked for forgiveness.fact he said the he would be "dead" if rest of police came to justify his actions is appalling. Furthermore he planned to murder a woman he'd invited to America shows he should not be outside.
@@appocalypsechild Fair play that he's turned it around but a civilised country wouldn't allow people like this the opportunity to commit violent crime again and again. He tried to kill two police officers and could have potentially killed other punters in the pub. He's also just admitted attempting to murder someone. Liberal views like yours are why we have so much, crime especially serious violent crime must be punished.
@mind5403 yet the copper is still clearly traumatised by it.
@@appocalypsechildBut has the woman he attempted to execute in cold blood forgiven him?
You're absolutely right. This guy is a stone cold killer. That woman he tried to execute was lucky to escape. I'm sure there are people who he has killed that he has never been caught for murdering.
@appocalypsechild Hitler pulled the whole bullshit he did 81 years ago , does that mean we should just forgive and forget? Guh suck yuh madda
This guy was a real bad man
This is amazing
This was very powerful and moving
Thanks for your comment leroy smith author of outofthebox
Respect to both men . Youths these days need to realise you can’t be a gangster all you life unless you want jail or death
Thanks for your comment s your words are true that’s why I go to school s and do talks because young people are the future. Leroy smith author of outofthebox
Can I ask, was you on the introduction wing and a man asked for English Rose (song) his name was Toby? At the time you had the corner cell. (Woodhill)
This is beautiful.
Well, that was better than I expected. At the end of the day, men can always bury the hatchet. I'm happy that he managed to reform and change his ways. They shared a moment in history. It was momentous for both of them for different reasons. As they got older and grew as people, they realised that moment in time they shared actually give them something in common and brought them together. It was traumatic for both people ,they were just different sides of the same coin. Peace ✌️
This is awesome. If Leroy can forgive James for shooting him. Why can we forgive each other for smallest thing. We should learn from these two.
Leroy shot James.
This would never happen in the US. He would never have the chance to redeem himself. He would die in prison
Ye but its england…joke…
Wow, respect 🙏
Really dangerous man , God can touch anyone’s heart
Wow that was emotional
Well done boys.....good effort....please stay friends.
It's kinda amazing how subtle and beautiful the Christian themes are woven into their story, and the result of it. (The humbling and uniting power of forgiveness.)
From enemies to now friends. It take quality character on both sides to get to that point.🙂
Policeman will always be a policeman he looks like he's working undercover
What a story 🙏🙏
"I tried to kill him because i needed to get away because if more cops came i would die"
What a POS. No sympathy
If you haven’t grown up in similar situations you wouldn’t get it lol no justification for what he’s done, however if you grew up in that life you’d get it, people are allowed to change, regardless of what your opinion is.
@@RLCerty I never said he wasn't allowed to change. I said i have no sympathy for him. The moment he decided to try to take an innocent persons life.
Thanks for your comment please remember I’m talking about the past in my interview so can only tell it has it was and back then that’was my mind set that was over 25 yrs ago now and I don’t have the same mind set hope that helps you to understand and blessings to you from me leroy smith author of outofthebox
@@LeroySmith-nn9woI am glad that you were able to change. But most people don't change. The way you tried to murder 2 people (that we know of) is terrifying. Both times you were just thinking about yourself. It is horrible for us law abiding people to know that such violent people are out in society with us. And it's even worse now. The crime is skyrocketing. It is not safe anywhere anymore. I carry my gun everywhere.
Seen smith speak on his past before, what better advert for what will happen if you do this. The copper to forgive what happened is admirable, a decent copper in a force full of bent ones, fair play to both if these guys.
Powerful!!
2 lucky fellas.
Ones lucky to be alive, the others lucky he's not in jail for the rest of his natural life.
He escaped prison and shot two cops and he is still free out in the open. UK is a crazy place.
Thanks for your comment from leroy smith author of outofthebox Ps I do lots of talks in school s and I’m sure I will stop some kids going down the rd I went down so yes I’m free but I’m putting my time to good use . Blessings
Notice how the victim says it happened in slow motion but the perp says it all happened so fast. Mad init.
I wish this spread across the world, A lesson to put yourself in someone elses shoes, People say there is always a choice, Correct, But sometimes there is only one way out.
Thanks for your comment I hope so too ! Blessings to you from leroy smith author of outofthebox
24:41 ~ "I'm grateful. I'm grateful."
Do you believe him? When he said this and looked into the copper's eyes, I BELIEVED HIM.
Very powerful
14:25 "And then basically I had some girls come from England"
