wow all of you complaining "that's not a ballet bun! it's not proper! it's going to fall out!" seriously the style of the bun is called a ballet bun. just because she's wearing a bun doesn't mean she's about to go do some pirouettes. when you see someone with a milk maid braid it doesn't mean she's about to go milk some cows. gosh
That's true, but I came here looking for different ways to put my hair in a bun. The qualities I'm looking for are if it stays in, is neat, and works for my ultra thick and long hair.
There wouldn't be a problem if she did not name the video how to make a ballet bun, if she simply said how to make a bun it would be a different story. The style she did would never be considered a ballet bun. She curled it, teased it, made it voluminous, and did it very loose while ballet buns need to be petite, slicked, tight, and secure unlike anything she did.
Ok this is totally NOT a ballerina bun. When you reach the twisting part, you twist your ponytail tightly, and THEN you wrap around the base, AGAIN in a "as tight as possible" manner, wrapping the hair more than once around. AND that is a ballerina bun. Small, neat, and tidy. You can keep the hairspray part.
Thanks for posting this video. I went from being absolutely clueless about putting up a bun and now i can do it really well! Thankyou sooooo much :) xxx
this would NEVER hold if your in ballet. i use millions of bobby pins, LOTS of hairspray and a whole wack of teasing and sometimes it still comes out xD even with my net
I really like this video. The bun looks a little too unsecured and like it might fall out while your dancing but it's close to how a ballerina would wear it. I am definitely going to try this out! :)
Briana I totally agree my hair is thick and curly, and it has different shades of brown so it just looks better down. They need to make a tutorial for people with thick and untamable hair!
I don't see why everyone's giving hate. It's a quick mad easy way to do a bun for school, work or collage and it just looks like a bun a ballerina would wear. I don't think it's meant to be for dancing because obviously it would fall out but it's a nice simple effortless way to put your hair up!
I loved this hairstyle. And since we're all on the topic of hair types and skin colour I would just like to point out that brown people have more thicker hair naturally and it's also very soft.
My mother is a ballet teacher at the Joffrey ballet academy and never have I ever seen any ballerina make their bun like that. The moment you jump with that on your head it will come falling down.
I have just barely shoulder length hair and I use a sock bun to make up for the fullness. There are tons of sock bun tutorials out there on youtube, it's easy and makes a nice neat bun.
this is a very beautiful model with gorgeous brown hair :) and as many of you already know this isnt a ballerina bun, this is more of a trendy fashion bun, still looks great though !
It helps to keep all the hair together which means less fly aways and if the curl is going in the way that the bun is wrapped, it makes it neater :-) xx
I do the bun a bit lower on my head and once my hair is in a ponytail I loosely braid it. Then I twist it around just like in the video. It looks really pretty. Just make sure the end of the ponytail is hidden in the bun.
To all the dancers out there: No, it is NOT a proper dance bun. It's supposed to be a fashion hairstyle that gives the impression of a ballet bun, much like "ballet flats" are a fashion accessory not meant for dancing in. Classic ballet buns are usually worn with a hairnet and pinned much tighter than desired for street wear.
EASY WAY: 1) Gather all hair into your hand as if you're about to do a ponytail 2) Twist all the hair all the way until the end, so the entire hair is twisted 3) Allow hair to naturally coil back into a bun 4) Wrap extra length around bun 5) Use hair tie around the base of the bun. Done!
@QUIQUIPARIS Its actually easier, if you wet your hair down, brush it out, flip you head over and secure with an elastic wrap it around your finger then twist around the base of the bun and secure with bobby pin. Its how I do it.. and my hair always stays.
The curling is to make stick straight ends curl into themselves. Straight ends don't behave when twisting them up into a hairdo, they want to stick out at odd angles.
ok um, for the record, this isn't exactly for ACTUAL ballerinas :D this hairdo would be for a casual one or for a special event. For ballet class where we actually DANCE, then we don't have to do all that hair curling or volume controlling stuff. We have to use hairnets and WAY more bobby pins to secure the bun though :D so this bun looks loose and fun, but the ones that ballerinas have are tight, stiff and small
I wore this to my dance class and it worked great for the first two seconds of dance! it does not work at all and you don't need to curl it unless your not very smart and i am not saying names but we all know who i am talking about.
@jennlover96 if you curl your hair it'll be easier to hide the ends in the bun if you have layers. if your hair's straight then the ends will just poke out like a pinwheel :)
I love all your videos please can you make some more because like meany others I struggle to do my hair up and these tips make it a lot easier xxxxx (could yo make some for people with long thick hair because some of your videos only suit people with thin hair)
wow all of you complaining "that's not a ballet bun! it's not proper! it's going to fall out!" seriously the style of the bun is called a ballet bun. just because she's wearing a bun doesn't mean she's about to go do some pirouettes. when you see someone with a milk maid braid it doesn't mean she's about to go milk some cows. gosh
lolllll truth

Yes but the people looking at this video is looking for how to do a neet BALLET BUN and in my class you deafly won't be allowed to have that
Melissa Lynn it’s called a ballet bun so it would be for ballet what she did was a “ballet” bun as in a big bun
Ok this is totally NOT a ballerina bun. When you reach the twisting part, you twist your ponytail tightly, and THEN you wrap around the base, AGAIN in a "as tight as possible" manner, wrapping the hair more than once around. i totaly agree it is never that big.
That bun is too big
I agree with LF. The bun is so post to be tight not some lose messy average lazy day bun. 👎
Thank you! Finally some people understand!
Agreed
Like totally, not a ballerina bun......
a ballerina looks neat and polished, that bun look untidy.
Anna Lucente true😂❤️
As a ballet dancer myself, I know we would never get away with having a bun like this in class/shows/exams
OMG yes. I am also a ballet dancer and i would have to sit class out if my my hair was like this.
It's pretty, but what's the point of curling it?
Well there's many different ways to do a ballet bun, and this is one way. don't hate, she's trying to help people :)
Thanks for posting this video. I went from being absolutely clueless about putting up a bun and now i can do it really well! Thankyou sooooo much :) xxx
Please do a jette and tell me how The bun goes
if you wore that to dance & tried doing anything, not even turns, it would fall out. it is supposed to be tight with no back brushing....
If i turned up to an exam with that hair i would be told to leave
I did this hairstyle one day for school and I got many compliments! Xoxo
This looks nothing like a ballet bun . A ballet bun has to be firm and strong, otherwise it will fall apart while dancing.
i take dance and my teacher would yell at me if i wore this to dance it will just fall out
this would NEVER hold if your in ballet. i use millions of bobby pins, LOTS of hairspray and a whole wack of teasing and sometimes it still comes out xD even with my net
In starting ballet and I don't even know how to do a pony tail😂 I need to learn by tomorrow any tips?😂 I've watched tons of videos and nothing works😐
Remember that if you’re just going to class you don’t need to have a perfect bun, as long as it stays put it’s fine
Allie Egby don’t tease
i love her hair at 0:40.. its so simple..
and they make it look so easy
I'm not even a ballerina and I can tell you right now that that is not a ballerina bun
Such cute music and easy tutorials :)
I really like this video. The bun looks a little too unsecured and like it might fall out while your dancing but it's close to how a ballerina would wear it. I am definitely going to try this out! :)
i think even just the high pony before she does the bun is gorgeous
She looks like a model!
"Ballerina Bun" You sure about that? If I came into class with this bun my ballet teacher would yell at me
Kassy T yeah I would get kicked out 😂😂
As soon as you moved it would fall out lol.
Briana I totally agree my hair is thick and curly, and it has different shades of brown so it just looks better down. They need to make a tutorial for people with thick and untamable hair!
new drinking game: take a shot everytime someone says "i'm a ballerina"
I wore that to dance class and my teach said it looked flawless!!!
I don't see why everyone's giving hate. It's a quick mad easy way to do a bun for school, work or collage and it just looks like a bun a ballerina would wear. I don't think it's meant to be for dancing because obviously it would fall out but it's a nice simple effortless way to put your hair up!
her hair is so perfect
I agree. My ballet teacher was in the Russian Ballet, and she would never have let any of us show up to class with a bun like that.
I loved this hairstyle.
And since we're all on the topic of hair types and skin colour I would just like to point out that brown people have more thicker hair naturally and it's also very soft.
I love this!! I always wondered to how to do a bun that looked messy and full of volume! yay!
My mother is a ballet teacher at the Joffrey ballet academy and never have I ever seen any ballerina make their bun like that. The moment you jump with that on your head it will come falling down.
SHE MAKES IT LOOK SO EASY!
I have just barely shoulder length hair and I use a sock bun to make up for the fullness. There are tons of sock bun tutorials out there on youtube, it's easy and makes a nice neat bun.
It was gorgeous just in that pony tail!
100% not a ballet bun ._.
:p
this is a very beautiful model with gorgeous brown hair :)
and as many of you already know this isnt a ballerina bun, this is more of a trendy fashion bun, still looks great though !
It helps to keep all the hair together which means less fly aways and if the curl is going in the way that the bun is wrapped, it makes it neater :-) xx
Sorry but my ballet teacher would flip if she saw this...
So true haha
I love how the bun looks!!!!!!!!
I love this! Makes me actually suit having no hair on my face. :)
I used to take ballet and I never knew u could do it that way!
I love it !! Definitely will try it !! it looks so easy & gorgeous !!
She is so pretty!!
Ballerina BUN is greatly appreciated 😍😍😍
she is so gorgeous. ugh she's perfect. i hate myself. lol.
Looks great ! Ballerinas chill out ! Its a twist on a classic geez...
I LOVE how they have that white backround ^.^
Most tutorials I watch say that they curl the hair before doing updos so it'll give it more texture in order to stay put.
my hair would show no mercy to that elastic band.
The girls speaking has a very beautiful voice, I must say!
Omg she's stunning
love her hair and she is so cute
no her hair is too perfect mine will never look that smooth!!
Oh my gosh. She is sooo pretty! :O
I do the bun a bit lower on my head and once my hair is in a ponytail I loosely braid it. Then I twist it around just like in the video. It looks really pretty. Just make sure the end of the ponytail is hidden in the bun.
if i ever came to dance class with my hair like that, my teacher would probably have a seizure.
Umm I think some of us ballerinas have been offended my your term of "ballet bun"
love it . it the same kind of bun i used at ballet school before.
a bun like that would never hold through a ballet class.
I loved it. It works, it's easy, and you do an amazing job! ;)
That girl is so pretty!!!!!
Love the beautydept videos! I want more! :) maybe a red lip next? Or how to do gradual fading hair like LC?

The purpose of curling is to create texture. Updos stay longer and have less flyaways w/ texture, which also explains the teasing
I love this look!
if i walked into ballet with a bun like that my teacher would freak...
It actually does work with thick hair... I do it a different way but it holds all day. :)
Sock buns will always be my best friend.
Not even close to a ballet bun... This would fall out during warm up -_-
It would probably fall out as soon as i get changed lmao
i wear this look all the time
i love this look is so cute
I couldnt go on stage with THAT. My teacher would probably pull all my hair out if she saw that!
@QUIQUIPARIS Its actually easier, if you wet your hair down, brush it out, flip you head over and secure with an elastic wrap it around your finger then twist around the base of the bun and secure with bobby pin.
Its how I do it.. and my hair always stays.
I love it!!!!! Super chic and cute!!💚❤💚❤💚❤
Kristin is so pretty
Love doing this for ballet classes:)
It's so nice and I love to do it for school
You make it look easy!x
The curling is to make stick straight ends curl into themselves. Straight ends don't behave when twisting them up into a hairdo, they want to stick out at odd angles.
she is really pretyyy!!!
she is so pretty WHY
there are many ways to do a ballerina bun. my cousin did ballet for over 10 years and she and her friends did this ballerina bun until now
Omg!!! I dance ballet and i can't even jump with that thing on my head... And pirouettes.... Oh no... Sorry about my bad english :\\
And where is the helmet of hairspary?
when she flips her hair up, bam. a model.
My hair wouldn't stay in those bobby pins if I was just walking around, let alone dancing! Haha I use an extra elastic to hold the bun down
I love how all of a sudden everyone is a fucking ballerina
I like buns better when it's not all messy and dry looking. I like them neat and tight
That would fall right down on stage
she is really pretty
shesss soooo pretty though HOW
My dance teacher would yell at me for not having a secure ballet bun smh
Im just watching this because of the song. its relaxing
ok um, for the record, this isn't exactly for ACTUAL ballerinas :D this hairdo would be for a casual one or for a special event.

Its not going to stay in. That bun is not a ballerina bun, its too loose.
Also, if I wore my hair to class like that, I'd probably be shot by my teacher.
alright ladies, it is called a "Ballerina Bun" but that does not necessarily mean that this is how ballerina's wear it. It is just a name.
I wore this to my dance class and it worked great for the first two seconds of dance! it does not work at all and you don't need to curl it unless your not very smart and i am not saying names but we all know who i am talking about.
Just because you danced for ten years doesn't mean you're suddenly a hair expert
@jennlover96 if you curl your hair it'll be easier to hide the ends in the bun if you have layers. if your hair's straight then the ends will just poke out like a pinwheel :)
wow i did not know it was that easy! thanks =) xxx.
Aunq no habló ingles....entiendo muy bien tus videos......suerte con tu canal
I love all your videos please can you make some more because like meany others I struggle to do my hair up and these tips make it a lot easier xxxxx (could yo make some for people with long thick hair because some of your videos only suit people with thin hair)
