Using an E-drill vs drilling a Composi-Lok / Jo-Bolt. The removal of blind-bolt fasteners (Jo-Bolt, Composi-Lok, Visu-Lok, Radial-Lok etc.) using a traditional twist drill can take up to 8-10 minutes to remove manually. The E-drill can complete the task in much less time (watch the video)... These are typically the most difficult Fasteners to Remove and the most Damage Prone. Titanium variants of these fasteners used on composite airframe structure are especially challenging.
For those of you who don’t know Perfect Point, our latest generation E-drill Pro 150 Series provides forceless electro-discharge machining (EDM) cutting for repeatable accuracy and effectiveness on a scale that conventional twist drilling cannot. You can consistently remove the head or collar from hard-metal fasteners (titanium, steel, and nickel alloys) in less than 10 seconds with a minuscule damage rate (less than 1%), versus the more common five to seven minutes demanded by standard twist drills. What’s more, easy-to-use alignment tools ensure accurate cuts with no damage to the parent structure.
    Using the E-drill, you could:
 Reduce labor cost and lost time
 Improve accuracy and cut damage rates from 20% to less than 1%
 Eliminate FOD due to drilling debriss
 Protect mechanics from career-ending injuries
 Prevent unwanted exposure to noise-driven hearing loss

My great uncle Joe invented them while working at Grumman in Long Island, NY. They didn't want them so, he patterned it and made money. Good airplane fastener.

Getting jo-bolts out is normally a nightmare scenario! The joke we have is “jo-bolts are forever”

Any Airline looking to improve their bottom line while looking after their worker must have at least one of these units in the hangar.

Can the E-Drill work with blind rivets made from a variety of materials?

It works on most metal/alloy fasteners. What fasteners are you working on?

THATS COOL. what type of fasteners can it do? will it do traditional flush rivets with a shop head?

It works on almost all metal fasterners blind bolts (in the video), solid pins (like a hi-lok), even keyed inserts and some other specialized fasteners. For flat, flush rivets we have an optical locating device to lock onto the center of the head.(ppedm.com/e-drill-locators/) What types of fasteners are you mostly working on?

Would this apparatus work on cherry max fasteners as well? 🤔

Yes, e-drill can work on all metal fasteners. It's an old video but here it is working on cherry-max fasteners: ua-cam.com/video/p0OZZiBZZxI/v-deo.html

No FOD, virtually no possibility of repetitive motion injury (contain workman comp claim costs) or damaging the skin/airframe (no rework) and the work is typically completed in 1/10th the time - resulting in BIG time and money savings.
