MK7 looks way cooler than the mk8
Great review and good music selection for the fender review.
Just bought my 2021 S las week and couldn’t be any happier with it.
Has many goodies from the rabbit edition minus the headlights and bigger screen.
But you get the gloss black mirrors and roof spoiler from the rabbit.
I’m getting aftermarket les headlights I’m the future.

I work for a Mercedes dealership and the dealer owners also own a VW dealer, and that dealer has a Tornado Red GTI SE with black wheels. It looks sharp as hell and I have to have it. There is already discounts on it. Hope being an employee further discounts it!

Just bought one. I got 5 years open milage warranty + 7 years free maintenance or 105K KM + 3 years road side assist + 1 year comprehensive insurance + nano ceramic coating. This was Ramadan offer in Abu Dhabi. Only applies on the first batch of the 2021 GTI.
Which model did you get and what was your out the door price? I'm seeing them listed for 31.5k but wondering if dealer will come off that price a bit

Great review. One little detail worth mentioning is those wheels that come standard only on the 2021 Autobahn are forged and much lighter than the other trim wheels and previous years. Like 17lbs instead of 25. "Belvedere". I really prefer the look as well. I just ordered a set as an upgrade for my 2018 SE.. Other than that, adaptive cruise control and maybe the Fender audio upgrade about the only things I kinda wish my car had from the Autobahn. SE is the best value.
where can i buy a set of these 2021 autobahn wheels i really want a set for my gti.
@@freddieevans3563 did UA-cam delete my reply? Lame. I got them from Capital Volkswagen in San Jose CA. Also I still haven't installed my set, sitting new in their boxes if you are interested I might be selling them. I'm considering selling my car and going electric.

I’m wondering which is more fun, this or the civic si? It seems like the gti keeps going to redline, and doesn’t suffer from rev hang🤔 I’ll need to test drive soon😁
also, if you thinking daily driving, gti is the way to go
Don’t get the Autobahn, just get the SE. that extra money you save, you can start modding your car and make it sound and feel like the car it was meant to be.

Most are hesitant to modify their car when you have a bumper to bumper warranty. Also, to me, it doesn't make sense to mod like crazy and go for 500hp in a $30k FWD hatchback. additionally, don't buy the Autobahn for more performance. The point of the autobahn is more bells and whistles such as the upgraded stereo, adaptive cruise control, and dual-zone auto climate (small thing i know, but once you get used to it, going back to manual controls suck)

MK8 is available in Europe as a 2021, not impressed. The touch sensitive buttons and all digital everything is overkill, plus it pretty much lost the profile we all know and love. My '14 MK VI only has 31k on it, I'll stick with what has worked, small screen and all...
Agree MK8 is a step back vs the MK7. Amazing you have less miles on your 2014 than I have on my 2018.
I like Tauren Wells 🙋♂️, Never Lost a Battle that he did with Elevation Worship is a fantastic song. I have a Fender premium audio system in my 2014 Jetta, very awesome that VW offers it in a 2021 model year vehicle. I have the Fender speakers or tweeters on the A pillars. Do you still drive Stegosaurus?
I actually traded Stangosaurus for a 2020 Sonata... literally half the price and still an amazing car. Basically to finish the basement for my kids! 😁

Is the 2021 model the MK 7 or MK 7.5?
Still 7.5 in the US. Better than the mk8 anyway. ;) I bought a 2018 last year knowing the mk8 was coming and no regrets at all. From everything I've read, as well as the looks, I prefer the mk7.5 and it's not even close.
So if the 2021s are MK7.5, then what model years are just the MK7 then?

Mk7 Facelift (aka 7.5): 2018, 19, 20, 21.
Halogen headlights are a MAJOR blunder for the S trim. Totally unacceptable after all these years of the Mk7. The last few years in particular, if you wanted the plaid seats, you were stuck with halogen lights.
Yeah gotta go with SE trim. I found the unicorn last year.. 2018 SE 6spd manual w/ plaid seats.
2019 had the Rabbit Edition trim which came with the performance pack, lighting package, and plaid seats. And no sunroof, which is a plus imo

@@travis3810 to each their own I guess. All of my previous cars had sunroofs, and I loved putting them down when the weather was nice. But I’ve never sat in a car and complained about the lack of a sunroof. Plus you don’t have to worry about leaks (which vag cars are notorious for) and the chassis is a bit more rigid and stiff which is always a plus for a gti lol
@@Chris-qe6qr Unless you're randy pobst or lewis hamilton, you won't notice the lack of rigidity without driving them back to back. Even if I don't put them down, I still love having the shield open and letting the light in. It tends to feel claustrophobic without one imo, especially in an all black interior like the GTI

Most parts are made and manufactured around the world though mainly Germany and Mexico, but it’s still good quality parts
Mk8 won’t be made in Mexico… they said Mk7 was the last one, in order to make more SUVs.
I want a GTI in the worst way but I can only afford an older one with a lot of miles. I wish they were more reliable when they start getting up there in miles. WHEN is Volkswagen. going to learn. how to make a GTI as dependable as a boring Honda Accord?
I see a lot of older GTI’s out there that must mean something! I always hear good things about it when being well kept if course
@@alexcervantes5194 I look every day on all the major websites. I drove a 2007 with only 72000 miles last weekend. Asking price is 10,000 but it seems too old to be asking 10,000. id rather spend more and get the new technology and have. but the 2007 sure was great to drive.
The direct injection carbon build up on the valves is a pain with these though....
I'm nearing 180K and I haven't had issues with the engine. It does do weird things at times though.
@J๏keR if you regularly add fuel system cleaner, would that help the engine last longer?
@J๏keR it’s a direct injection engine so carbon buildup is inevitable. Just take it to a shop and pay $400 to have it walnut blasted or if your handy with a wrench you could probably do it yourself
