2021 VW GTI Review: Still a Good Hot-Hatch?

  • This week I drove and reviewed the 2021 MK7.5 VW GTI, and was very impressed by this German hot-hatch!! The all new MK8 GTI is just around the corner and this is a precarious time to be looking at a MK7.5... or is it?
As a previous MK6 owner myself (a long time ago) the MK7.5 felt both immediately familiar and massively improved. In fact, there were so many electronic upgrades that I can't imagine how Volkswagen plans to improve the MK8... but they surely have, as European reviews and stats can confirm!
The MK7.5, especially as a used car, still makes complete sense and would leave a vast majority of potential buyers very happy!

I'm picking up a 2021 autobahn tomorrow, my first and previous golf was a mk4 GT TDI PD130 with a stage 1 remap. That car was my baby, and I absolutely loved it! Can't wait to get back in a Golf as a practical, fun daily!

Epic review as always Reo! Thanks a million for consistently sharing your passion and experience and knowledge! You spoiling us with these weekly drops And now I’m used to looking for them! Wished I lived in Cali because I would beg you to take me along to record a review! I think it would be a blast. Lol

Great job man, and great video! For next videos with manual cars, it could be possible to fix a camera on the pedalbox to film your footwork please? :)

Great job describing the car as well as your perspective on the MK 7.5 v. MK 8. Vid was comprehensive, informative and low key.

Great review. I ♥️ the 7.5. I’ve had a ‘17 mk7 SE since ‘18. I’m thinking of upgrading to ‘21 Audubon. The mk8’s have been out for a few years and the design has grown on me. Initially I was off put by the exterior but seeing them around now for 2 years I’ve warmed up but I still don’t really want one 😂. I’m still partial to the 7.5.

Summer tires are standard on the Autobahn. But the dumbbell who specced my 2020 model added the all-seasons back on as a $0 option...

I would rather push a Volkswagen instead of driving a Honda or Toyota
