You can level woodcutting by using a weak axe on a tree that needs a stronger axe to cut it, i.e a stone axe on a birch tree. Just a tip for the fellow people reading the comments.
My buddy made a thing to make his guy jump over and over. Left it going while he was away. Now his jump is 84 and he jumps so high it hurts his character to land haha!
Okay 2 improvements for this build: Inside the house, make sure you have a birch tree aswell. You can train pickaxe and woodcutting (with a stone axe) on it.
Quick tip regarding wood cutting. Go to a tree you're not able to cut down yet due to it being "too hard." Keep wacking at it. Even though you cannot cut the tree down, you STILL gain in wood cutting from hitting it over and over and over and you'll never have to worry about wasting time from cutting it down and running to another tree. So whether it be a birch tree or an Oak tree for example. Works like a charm!
Tip for anyone coming to this video in 2024 or later. It doesn't work anymore. The rock hitting leveling method was patched a long time ago, so i believe spawners are the go-to for most combat skills now
I found a way to quickly level up Block. It is a variation of finding a bunch of necktails and holding down block - but you create a V shape with wood fences, 2 thick, then lure the mob in. To keep them from de-aggroing, trap them into the V shape with you with a few more fences. Wedge yourself into the V corner, weigh down your right mouse button, and wander off for 30 minutes. This levels up your Block skill by 1 every 4-6 minutes while you're having coffee, doing chores, playing on your phone, whatever. I recommend popping back every 30 minutes to do fence repairs and generally checking to make sure everything is ok.
this is creative but I recently started a new playthrough and guess which enemy we all forgot existed: ghosts! Just enter a dungeon and if you come across it his attack speed is fast and he doesnt run away yet his damage is close to nothing so your shield doesnt get ruined quickly plus you have enough time to regen your stamina between his attacks.
You've inspired me to build a hovel over any ores I need to mine, and I thought I was being clever having a fancy wall enclosure. Now it can be roofed and double as a mining gym! Thanks for that!
Best way to train blocking is to wait for a "Skeleton Surprise" and just kite them around until they're all coming at you from the front and then just hold up your shield. Sneaking is easy too, find a stone Fuling tower that has Lox (very) near by, clear out the tower and Agro the lox, run back inside and hide in a corner, face into the corner and W. You're welcome.
Hey FireSpark81, I don't know if you managed to find a way yet to level the woodcutting skills. But if not, it's fairly easy, just like you build a hut around a rock, you can build one around a BIRCH tree and start smacking it with a stone/flint axe (anything above would actually damage it) and level your woodcutting that way! Hooza!
Ok went and made my own, discorvered this: 1.- Even while swiming you should keep the rested bonus for the extra 50% exp 2.- Brazier gives the fire buff, its attached to a ceiling and has a pretty good aoe 3.- Place 3 Core Wood in a C shape looking at the boulder, that way when you spam attacks you wont move away and wont break anything 4.- Raise a wall around the dojo, that way enemies won't kill you if you afk 5.- Make dojo in Mislands (for the time being) that way random spawns wont bother 6.- For multiplayer training use core wood so both player can spam happily without moving away and breaking anything
This is actually something i can do while I watch/listen to lectures on my laptop. Ty. The slow skill progression was beginning to annoy me even though I don't die that often my skills still seem really low.
SO many strats unused here. You can hit a birch tree with a flint/stone axe and level wood cutting, consider building around or planting one near/in your rock "dojo". If you can not find a rock and a birch tree close enough, i suggest placing a stone wall or something, very durable, not as convenient as a boulder because it will require repairs. Also, the birch tree, or any tree can be used to level mining skill, as it takes no damage to pickaxes but still levels it, more reason to have a birch tree in your "dojo"
You can’t plant birch trees, as they don’t drop seeds when you chop them down. Only thing you can do is to find one and build around it. Although, if you do this, then you’d be missing out on leveling on the skills you can level with a rock. So you’d either have to do one or the other, or just have two separate dojos
This is like something we did back in Ultima Online, we would trap animals with chests inside a house and make training areas for weapons / defense, even some that would cast on us for magic resist training. Im not likely to resort to all this but the stylized building "dojo" does make it a little more palpable as you can essentially role-play justify that you are "training".

So I watched your video yesterday and was thinking of building this DoJo to stat up and you mentioned that hit the rock with the axe didn't level up your wood cutting skill......I thought about this and figured out a way the do just that....if you was to find a birch tree next to a big rock you could build around that and us a flint axe on the birch tree and it will level up your wood cutting skill. Your Welcome ....
Slight improvement you could make, instead of using a rock, build the house around a Birch tree You can level up pickaxe on a birch tree without damaging it, and if you want to level axes, just use an axe that can't chop birch. Hitting a birch tree with an axe that can't chop it also levels up woodcutting, but axes won't level instead. You'll have to use the rock for axes, unless you want to build around both a rock and a birch tree.
Great minds think alike. You can also level your pickaxe on the birch. You can also put poles next to the Birch tree so that when you hit the tree with an axe you also hit the poles which means you lvl both wood cutting and Axes at the same time. Adding poles might lvl swing weapons faster as your hitting multiple objects at the same time but I can't confirm that.
My friends and I just turn on friendly fire and equip the lowest tier weapons we have. We fight each other at max comfort level and regenerate hp faster than we lose it so we end up gaining several levels within minutes of just spamming attacks at each other
blocking is amazing because you can block 3-4 friends at the same time and really jump xp. Just keep them in the corner of a wall so that block force doesn't knock them back.
The best way now in 2023 is to be rested and just do that skill, swim to level swim. Block greydwarves to level block. Find a spawned to lever a weapon.
If you have an abundance of berry bushes (like I do). Make a motherfuckerton of mead and chug in between stamina depletion for even faster regen. Usually I just chug while Eikthyr is activated.
just something else to point out, if you still have your antler pickaxe it will do less damage to the floor so you will get more hits in and more experience before you have to replace them again, will have to repair more often though
Instead of hitting a rock, hit your friend while they have PvP turned off As long as only you have it on they won't die and your skills go up Alternatively, turn on their PvP too and give them a tower shield so they can level their block while you level your attacking skills

Works for awhile till they forget to eat and they say hey your attack is weak use secondary...☠️☠️ Accidentally killed my buddy twice like that once with mace once with sword.
Thanks for the video. As others have mentioned, you can look for Birch trees to level not just woodcutting, but basically everything else that the rock can level as well, including pickaxes, since it is "too hard".
The Tips are usefull, thank you. Some Skills you don't need to level. Like Pick Axe, grab some metal, make terra forming, you need the stuff anyway, so no need to level it up. The same with, running. If you explore the world you get both, the landscape and level for your skills. Weapons are the only one i would level but i'm not sure how long it's gonna take in higher level.
- I would probably use the swimming one, just because it levels a little too slow for my liking, I mean my running and jumping are MILES ahead of swimming, but when I NEED to swim, it's often kind of deadly, you can swim like 10 meters and then your stamina is down and you will start drowning, makes swimming generally not advisable, so you try not to do it much AKA you don't level it much. I mean honestly trying to level swimming naturally even if you were doing it 100% Vanilla legit would be a bit time consuming and super tedious, I did attempt to swim around a bit to level it, and lasted like less than 5 minutes, it drains stamina way too fast and was boring AF, whereas running around and jumping is not only more fun, but it's kind of automatically useful, plus the stamina drain on it is not nearly as bad as with swimming.
I think woodcutting is the one thing I wouldn't bother leveling in this way. I need wood too much and the forests are dense. Sure might have to fight off a little critter here or there but I'd rather kill two birds with one stone even if it's slower. Everything else I get it.
@@Mapleaple Oh word I just get my friends to do it. I guess you could say we're not so different, you and I. For real though, I don't hate on different "playstyles", but what's the appeal of playing a game like this if you're gonna automate it? The point is that it's a grind with lots of satisfying progression. If you just wanted to reach endgame or have unlimited resources you can just spawn them in god mode in your seed. Why even go through the charade of a farm bot?
@@amphibeingmcshpongletron5026 Same reason people make so many auto farms in Minecraft ...theres so much to do you could never finish the game, or why auto clicker app games are so popular. People work and don't have time to manually do the small tasks that take hours of real time when I could be out sailing and exploring the map...which takes a really long time of real life too. Automaton in games isn't new and its due to lack of time but without cheating. I made a training hall for it and still have to repair my tools. Cheating ruins the grind and ruins the game for others if on multiplayer for any game.
FYI on water mechanics: The height of waves decreases as distance to shore line increases. Dig a trench from shore to inland for about 20 meters, and you'll see what I mean. Find the sweet spot for your swim ''position' (distance from shore and height as in the video) and build your dojo there with room for stairs down to that spot in a corner, trench it (you still get raids; at least I did), and you're good.
find a white tree next to a rock and if you use the stone axe and hit both you level both axe and wood cutting at the same time and having the white tree hit it with your pickaxe and you can level that up with no damage at all just dont hit your rock
great stuff , been playing a few days now . glad yoiure playing it . helps a lot and gives me somthing to watch when im too tired to play but too addicted to totally stop lol
FireSpark I use a tree stump. I raise it a little above the ground level this works well for grinding out pick axes. The best is to have a tree stump next to a rock you get 2 hit for one swing and it super fast for Clubs and Swords.
If you would use a macro to afk level up, why not just use the cheat command to raise your skills? At least you wouldn't have to keep your PC turned on while not using it...
I feel the same way. If I gonna spend the time to just sit there and cheese my skills I might as well just cheat code them up. My question is, do you get anything extra and noticeable when they reach 100?
I don't understand the negative comments here. Being someone who spends 80% of my time with building it's actually nice - and immersive - to have something like this as to not fall behind on your other skills/teammates. It's fun and very cool. I just built one today.
I train blocking by digging a small hole and luring necks and boars into it while blocking in the corner. You can cap the entrance with walls and hold them too
for the running and jumping you could use the first bosses buff, you would still be using stamina but the stamina drain is drastically lowered thus you'd gain lvls faster
hitting enemies gives u almost double exp than hitting rocks or structures , the best way is just hiting a traped golem ( or few of them ) for almost every weapon , and wait until he heal himself , for blunts just farming loxes or trolls , all with rested buff i lvled craping fast shielding in a graydwarf farm , parrying 3 brutes at same time
Bruh... You jumping... You running... But my eyes are burning because no talk about EIKTHYR BUFF... + You can skill trees with flint pickaxe against TOO HARD trees. Ez
and u did all that without even using the buff from the first boss LOL that 20min cooldown sux but -60% stamin cost for jumping and running would come in hand in this situation I guess most people think its a passive bonus but it's not and once its running it really does a lot of difference
This helped a lot actually. I don't need a swimming hut, i figure i can just do laps in the lake when I need too. But the rock hut thing helped me get my skills up for the other weapon classes I'm not using super easy, to the point I got good with the spear, and after a few hundred arrows, I was legit able to line up my kite shots so much faster and quicker because I realised they don't come anywhere close to lining up with the reticle, after a certain distance. I came out the other end feeling so much more versatile in this games combat mechanics.
@@Telleelle It's not the amount of stamina used that determines if you get more or less xp. You get same amount of xp with fully drawn bow or just a quick click. Go up to the rock and spam away.

Just keep them in the corner of a wall so that block force doesn't knock them back.
if you play with a friend then turning on friendly fire then sparring (one with a weapon, one with a shield) it's fast and fun too
i think you can still level up without hurting friend
You can't level on a rock anymore, but if you have a willing friend you can level weapons on them even without pvp enabled.
The best way now in 2023 is to be rested and just do that skill, swim to level swim. Block greydwarves to level block. Find a spawned to lever a weapon.
Skeletons don't move when they hit you, get one or two or three to attack you and put a weight on your right click key, you can afk block train
For the water training house, if you had a fire it will help reduce water damage to your structure
playing a game: "it is not about entertainment" ....... GOLD! But thumbs up for the fire on corewood tip.
Fire on core wood is revolutionary.
If you have an abundance of berry bushes (like I do). Make a motherfuckerton of mead and chug in between stamina depletion for even faster regen. Usually I just chug while Eikthyr is activated.
The rock thing doesn't work anymore. Tried it with everything weapon today and fists.
yeah, it was patched 1 year ago or something
I use a spawner to skill my weapons atm. Works fine, too. And you collect wood and stone on the side.
sadly you have to go full minecraft video game industrial farming shooting gallery at greydwarf spawners now.
just something else to point out, if you still have your antler pickaxe it will do less damage to the floor so you will get more hits in and more experience before you have to replace them again, will have to repair more often though
Instead of hitting a rock, hit your friend while they have PvP turned off
As long as only you have it on they won't die and your skills go up
Alternatively, turn on their PvP too and give them a tower shield so they can level their block while you level your attacking skills
Works for awhile till they forget to eat and they say hey your attack is weak use secondary...☠️☠️ Accidentally killed my buddy twice like that once with mace once with sword.

Just so you know, fire on top of core wood no longer works.
Next time you should also activate the "Dear" power to use less stamina while running and jumping
Deer*
@@Zaaavon "DEAR"
Dear 😂 Cute
1 more thing, u can use the 1st boss (Eikthyr) buff for run + jump. it will help as well
to lvl wood chopping i would get a stone axe and hit a birtch tree
Thanks for the video. As others have mentioned, you can look for Birch trees to level not just woodcutting, but basically everything else that the rock can level as well, including pickaxes, since it is "too hard".
Use a shrine instead. You can use a pick on it.
This metod is patched dont waste your time on this vid anymore
All but the attacking the rock work. So just the run, jump, and pick.
Using a Birch tree or oak tree can level wood cutting and pickaxe skills without breaking the tree before Bronze tools
I think woodcutting is the one thing I wouldn't bother leveling in this way. I need wood too much and the forests are dense. Sure might have to fight off a little critter here or there but I'd rather kill two birds with one stone even if it's slower. Everything else I get it.
@@amphibeingmcshpongletron5026 someone's never heard of a auto clicker. I make my slave gather my wood
Cheating ruins the grind and ruins the game for others if on multiplayer for any game.
only the jump works the rock doesnt give youu anything anymore
😞
FYI on water mechanics: The height of waves decreases as distance to shore line increases. Dig a trench from shore to inland for about 20 meters, and you'll see what I mean. Find the sweet spot for your swim ''position' (distance from shore and height as in the video) and build your dojo there with room for stairs down to that spot in a corner, trench it (you still get raids; at least I did), and you're good.
10:28 "Q is your auto-run key"
Me: WHAT?!
It’s not very good cause you can’t turn your mouse to redirect where you’re running so it’s just a straight line running auto run lol
@@dylanchavez7498 hold down the right mouse button
Yep now when can we toggle sprint to press to turn off
Please update leveling guide for H&H, need it badly. Hitting stumps/rocks or buildings doesnt work anymore.
Can you do an update on this. The rock seems to have been patched (at least for the atgeir)
find a white tree next to a rock and if you use the stone axe and hit both you level both axe and wood cutting at the same time and having the white tree hit it with your pickaxe and you can level that up with no damage at all just dont hit your rock
this is gold info
Thanks odin
great stuff , been playing a few days now . glad yoiure playing it . helps a lot and gives me somthing to watch when im too tired to play but too addicted to totally stop lol
jump-leveling against a low ceiling gives me oblivion-flashbacks
FireSpark I use a tree stump. I raise it a little above the ground level this works well for grinding out pick axes. The best is to have a tree stump next to a rock you get 2 hit for one swing and it super fast for Clubs and Swords.
If you would use a macro to afk level up, why not just use the cheat command to raise your skills? At least you wouldn't have to keep your PC turned on while not using it...
Yea defeats the purpose of the game tbh. Might as well just play on creative mode
Yeah I made a dojo but I don’t macro afk else I might as well use cheats
I feel the same way. If I gonna spend the time to just sit there and cheese my skills I might as well just cheat code them up. My question is, do you get anything extra and noticeable when they reach 100?
you get a cheater Tag when you code ur skills... so it makes sense for a lot of people
@@Lucidicris think so, have heard jumping is insane at that level
If there isn't a good rock near you, and you don't use axes, it's always possible to use a tree for training.
You can cap the entrance with walls and hold them too
“Maybe you’ve died a couple of times.”
Me who has died 1207063066 times: 😥
I trained my elemental magic by shooting cold magic barrage on a stucked stone golem ;)
but why, when you are spending your time on mining for instance, you might aswell mine actuall stuff.
for the running and jumping you could use the first bosses buff, you would still be using stamina but the stamina drain is drastically lowered thus you'd gain lvls faster
You need to use the buff to get it and the cooldown is really long and the buff do stay long.
idk about you mate but i find those really funny methods to levelup
Best guide creator I have found so far on UA-cam and I have been on UA-cam for video games for almost 10 years. Keep it up!!!
hitting enemies gives u almost double exp than hitting rocks or structures , the best way is just hiting a traped golem ( or few of them ) for almost every weapon , and wait until he heal himself , for blunts just farming loxes or trolls , all with rested buff
i lvled craping fast shielding in a graydwarf farm , parrying 3 brutes at same time
It's interesting that no else has seemed to figure out that you can place floor tiles underneath fire after you have placed the fire.
are you sure about that? i've seen this tip in at least 1 video already
You are so close to 100k, been watching your channel since starbound, keep up the good work!
Bruh... You jumping... You running...
But my eyes are burning because no talk about EIKTHYR BUFF... + You can skill trees with flint pickaxe against TOO HARD trees. Ez
👍
Hahahaha. I know it's an old vid but xbox just got this game. Thanks for making this. Best line....."the rock is your friend"
Rock is love, Rock is life.
I'm pretty sure it got patched
@@justthere845 it almost definitely did.
the jump still works, but you can't level weapons on non-creatures anymore
They should make a training dummy
and u did all that without even using the buff from the first boss LOL that 20min cooldown sux but -60% stamin cost for jumping and running would come in hand in this situation I guess most people think its a passive bonus but it's not and once its running it really does a lot of difference
You can't do laps. You will drown... You don't regenerate stamina in the water
@@HappyHounds by 'laps' I meant from a shore point, get roughly 45-50% of my stamina metre, return, rest, repeat.
For bows, you don't have to fully charge it to level it. Just spam fire.
More stamina is used if charged, so it should gain more xp when charged. even if so, charging could still be less xp/second
@@Telleelle It's not the amount of stamina used that determines if you get more or less xp. You get same amount of xp with fully drawn bow or just a quick click. Go up to the rock and spam away.
Alternative to stacking walls for training pickaxe, place a personal chest. I believe they have 10k health
