I've seen several 'beards' like that on palms here, in Vegas. I often wonder how they survive the 4th. One bottle rocket into that mess, and it's like an explosion. My old neighborhood had one over the sidewalk, right down to head height it was easily 15 feet of dead fronds. The 17 years over due roof next to it??? Super dry cedar shingles. They have a 20x15 blue tarp as their 'temporary' repair, the same as the first day I saw it, summer of '14.
Joe Dalmolin I’ve met tall, short, heavy, and skinny climbers. From what I’ve seen, people who are 5’2-5’10 are some of the fastest/experienced climbers I’ve ever seen in my life. Including UA-cam arborists. I respect the heavier and taller folks that do it too🤘🏽🌴🌴 Good question my friend, thanks for watching

And the only other thing that I seen was in conjunction with his Rappel rope he should have been using his lanyard also. God forbid the saw kicks and cuts Rappel rope. Safety is always number one priority. You only fall one time from that height. Other than that nice cut.
Interesting, never seen it done that way. I work on the inside of the palm tree and work my way up but regardless palm trees are dangerous and Mother Nature is unpredictable stay safe brother and happy climbing 🙌
What is this called? Like the actual husk/beard you are cutting off. I know it’s different than just the husk cuz the husk grows on the tree not out of the palm leaves
Wyatt Smith Maybe so, but here in Las Vegas clients call me to trim these types of palm trees because of rat/birds nest, scorpions, and all the seed pods falling off and landing on their roof during strong winds. Plus, in my opinion, palm trees are beautiful and really accentuates the property 💯👍🏼
If there are a lot dead fronds on the palm tree the tree cannot photosynthesize correctly plus bats like to roost inthe dead fronds by the. Way its not the beard its the skirt
Bro isn't that cut exsessive? I heard hurricane cuts are bad for the tree. I don't think Vegas is going to be expecting hurricane weather any time soon either 🤣
