Hi Christa! Very happy to hear that you are working on the Shoulders Shrug, I love it and want to make it, so thank you very much for doing the tutorial, you are so kind as always! xxx 🧶 🐢🌻💟
I'm a pencil grip and I love clovers very comfortable and my hand does not get tired. I have never used a tulip hook. I think it is wonderful you donated all that yarn! “The heart that gives, gathers.” ― Tao Te Ching
Oh I love that shoulder shrug -- love, love, love the color!! Can't wait to see the new version (not in eyelash) sounds like that one would be perfect for me! Can't believe how much yarn you had to donate. Girl that was unreal!! Adorable kiddos! Thanks for taking us along on your hike!
That was such a nice way to get rid of your non joy sparking yarn. 👏 I am sure great things will come out of it. 😊 The shoulder shrug already looks so comfy and the colour is so pretty! 😍 ~ Kat
MY 6 PACK CHALLENGE!!!! arrived lat Friday!! Love it!! For anyone ordering from Canada it shipped out on Monday the 11th and I received on Friday the 15th. It did miss a flight connection so I guess I could have had Thursday - no worries!!! SO - I also had to pay import fees. Total cost (including shipping and import fees - $104.99 CDN. Works out to $2.18 CDN per skein. It was the $20.00 USD shipping which at the time of ordering was @ $27.00 CDN (exchange was about 1.34 USD for 1.00 CDN !! ) Still a good deal even with the exchange rate! Can't wait to use it and already have more in my cart!!! I love the yarn - thank you for introducing it to us!!!
Yes, so far I've order twice. The second order hasn't made it to my door yet, so I'm still waiting. Managed to get 6 packs on this last order! Now I'm in the process of filling my cart again!!!! So addictive!!!!! Christa, each time I see what you have ordered, I have to revisit my cart!!!!
Can't wait for all the great things you have coming up, Its very pretty here today as I am crocheting in United States, in Southern Indiana. Had to see what you was doing, love the green flower thing about your grandpa, lol,, ok, gonna finish watching you, fun fun!!!
Haunt ordered fro. ICE YET😕, I JUST have so much right now. But your making it really hard,😄😄😄😄😄, wow, that was so nice you giving that yarn to her!!!!! Was it Ice yarn, I missed what you said....oh my, A LOT OF IT!!!!
The Secret Yarnery it feels beautiful. I also have ordered over the last month several types of each Aran Variegated , baby lollipops cakes, wool worsted, rock star, saver, bamboo light, color twist, natural cotton, GumBall, wool cord, Alara, Fireworks, Flamme wool and Winter navy copper. Now do you see why I’m going to need to hide in Kenya from my husband ? (Just kidding)
You have some great projects going on and coming up. That walking you all did made me hot just watching you. The yarn donation you gave was fantastic and will make a lot of hats and things. Have a great day.
I love that flower square! And i KNEW green would be great on those! When you were showing the blocks last week, i thought green would be great! Im excited to see your final product!
Your shrugs a beautiful, never heard of them before. This is the first time I have been on your video, can't wait too see what else you come up with. Till next time. Iris
Looking forward to the color pooling blanket, yours is so pretty. Love the color of your shoulder shrug, very pretty. Can't wait to make one, especially with it extended down the back. Absolutely love the greens with the flowers, looks beautiful on your chair.
The Secret Yarnery I forgot to tell you how much I loved walking through the park with your family. I love your country. Someday I will get to Africa!!💋💋
Another awesome podcast!! Love it!! Loved the wips those are some great ideas and thanks for the encouragement on the multiple wips, seriously I used to feel bad about starting a new project. Loved the family time 😍 so great I live about 45 min from the giant sequoias and we love going for hikes.
I crochet pencil style because I have more control in holding and maneuvering the project. I use Clover hooks and they feel great in my hands. I have arthritis and crocheting with the Clover hooks I can crochet for hours with no pain or discomfort.
Sitting here watching you finishing up my 36 polka dots..... thinking I might need to make one of those shrugs....yes.... I think so.... I’ll go into my stash and find something pretty... mind you I just received yarn mail today for my next blanket!!🤪 btw I LOVE that pencil ottoman cover!! Adorable! 🧶❤️🧶
You talked some about driving, and I have to tell you, honestly, I think I would have to take a nerve pill to drive there, lol. Love to watch your adventures!
Hello Christa, though I am new to your channel I can answer your question about Ice Yarns. As it so happens I have just received a shipment of Natural Garden (4), Silk Merino (5), Cotton Bamboo Light (3), Organic Baby Cotton (3) and Pure Wool (1). I paid about 130 USD for the yarn plus 43 USD for shipping. I live in Germany and it took them about 5 days. But I ordered on a Friday evening and the package arrived on the following Wednesday. I hope this answers your question. Thanks for your wonderful videos. They make me see crochet in a totally new way. Greetings from Germany!
Love, love, love the color pooled blanket! Love trying to get that effect and finally achieving it! Love the colors also. I’ve never done a granny square or any type square yet with crochet, and I love yours, but wouldn’t enjoy putting them together; I don’t think anyway. Have some ICE in my cart just awaiting payday - will be my birthday pressie to me from me. Ha ha!
Great video! I have made two orders to ICE yarns. First one was 6 packs(48 balls) for $39.94 + $20.95 shipping. Works out to $1.27 each. Second one was 6 packs(26 balls)for $38.59 + $20.95 shipping. Works out to $2.29 each. Very reasonable I think
Love all the wips. Haven't ordered from ice yarns I have too many projects to do first and I have all the yarn for everything and some 😀 Maybe pack a picnic brunch for next hike.
I hold my hook pencil style, and I have recently got some ergonomic hooks with the smaller sizes I can hold it the same way but it doesn’t feel the same and with the bigger ones I can only hold them in the knife grip. I was very happy with my recent ice yarn order loved my new yarn and can’t wait to make another order.
Wow that was a lot of yarn, I do a Yarn work shop and we teach people with disabilities and Learning problems.. We get donations but not very often.... That amount of yarn would of made so many people happy....
FoH_Crazy_MF, yeah, know what you mean. We take yarn donations at my church for the prayer shawl group I started four years ago, but shipping would definitely be a problem for someone as far away as Christa. Don’t know where you are. Sounds like she picked a good group to donate to though. Have you asked for yarn donations locally for your group?
Hi, FoH_Crazy_MF and Dee! YES - even I wanted to gift it to my subscribers, but the shipping would be thousands and thousands of dollars. SUCH a bummer.
@@SecretYarnery yeah it is a bummer lol, not many people donate yarn near me as I don't know anyone that Crochets or Knits near me. Just read your reply and it's 6:16 here in London UK haven't been to sleep yet as I have a poorly two year old.
I am a pencil grip use ergonomic hooks(neither of the ones mentioned). I prefer Susan Bates and inline style hooks. They do not bother my hands at all and I crochet all day every day.
@Beth Churchmack, I am able to crochet with both hands, but I hold my hook differently for each hand. I do hold it in pencil grip in my left, and I have found that with the ergonomic hooks, as long as I can keep the hook facing the right way, and there is a flat spot, it's not too bully. And I have just many different brands of hooks with the ergonomic handles
Just received my first order, $20.95 in shipping. Bought from the garage sale, 6 bags, 44 items ($42.89 total). Loved the yarn and was amazed by the shipping time. Ordered on a Friday and received the following Tuesday afternoon. Turkey to Minnesota, USA and the weather here was bad. One of the last big snow storms (hopefully, this year who knows). I am new to your channel, joined a few weeks ago. You can't imagine how Kenya and the temperatures seem like paradise to me. Love your channel, am hoping to join the next CAL. Thanks for all your comments and recommendations about yarn. I will order again from ICE I'm sure.
Soooooo excited to see your colour pooling blanket featured!! 😊 My 1st order from Ice Yarns was specifically to buy the Gumball yarn (which was on the "daily deal") to crochet a colour pooling blanket after seeing yours! Yay! In that same order I bought a pack of eyelash blend rainbow black as it was crazy cheap & 2 baby cakes! My order came to about $50 AUD.... yarn was only about $20 & shipping $30 to Australia, which I choked on, but it came within a week. I LOVE the eyelash yarn soooo much that I ordered 2 more packets of eyelash blend rainbow black a few days ago, which was less than $6 AUD for 800g!!!! WHAT?!! Then shipping was $14 AUD for regular shipping as it was a lot cheaper than express & I'm not in a rush for the yarn! The yarn still works out cheaper than anywhere else..... even with expensive shipping! I've made back washers, but I only crochet a shorter section than you (about 1/4 to 1/3 of your length) & then put a handle on each end using just chain. It uses way less yarn & dries much faster. You only use a small section of yarn on your back anyway & it's small enough to hang up easily in the shower. I use a pencil grip on my cheap aluminium hooks. I have the ergonomic crochet hooks, but don't like them & don't use them as the yarn clunks unto the thick section of the handle & drives me nuts!! I've never tried Clover hooks, so maybe they'd be better, but for now I'm sticking with the hooks I crochet fastest with & that I enjoy..... just cheap aluminium!! Oh my...... soooo much yarn you donated!!!! Congrats on the big cull! 👏 I was wishing it could go to K4C (Knit 4 Charities) an Aussie group I'm part of who send 1000s of handmade items to Aussie charities. Glad it's going to good use to bless others....... very kind of you, Christa! Blessings from South Australia, Kerryn 💕
OK Christa, you've totally tempted me to stop making hats and scarves for a while and make a shoulder shrug! I've never made a wearable but I know I can do this. Thank you for the inspiration!!!
I love love the shoulder shrugs, I live in Florida might have to try a summer version seeing that we have all year summer (mostly 😂) new sub love your vids ❤️❤️❤️
Hai Christa. My experience buying yarns from Ice Yarn was = yesterday I ordered 3 packs for about USD 11,97 and the shipping about USD 16,95 to Indonesia. Shipping more expensive than the yarns. And I like your Kenya outing. But becareful with the snakes. I heard that African's snake could chase like flying.
Hi, Barbara Jeanne Brennan!! xOur rains will be here soon enough - mid April, and then we go into winter, so enjoying te dry heat while we have it. ;) x
Love the blanket that bright colors, yellow, green pink and purple. Do you have a video on the bright blanket? Love the basket,I hope to find some for my whip which I have 2 dollar basket which I'm using for my whip.
Hi Christa! Could you please show a close up of the hippopotamus behind you on your bookshelf? I just love it and can’t take my eyes off it! Are you planning a tutorial on how to make it? I hope you do! By the way, I could have sworn you were a New Yorker like me! Well, that’s all for now. All the best from this New York Rican...
Thank you for the information! I will order it ASAP! Your great and I love your videos! Do you have any yarn storage ideas for those of us who live in apartments? Any suggestions will be appreciated! All the best...
Hi, Cynthia Philip!! You are HILARIOUS! Yes - that is the husband! I showed him your comment, and he asked me to say "Thank you very much" to you! BIG hugs! xx
Last time I orderd ice yarns I'm thinking bout just keeping ice yarns is bout my favorite I think there yarn is very good quality I would also like to try and attempt for that six pack challenge but I do love there yarns and love your vidoes and I plan on ordering a small yarn haul hehehe... this next month on the first I can't wait
I use the pencil grip and I use the cheaper hooks from Hobbii that I think are just like clovers. love them. The others with fancy shafts I can just look at them and see that I can not use them, like Furls and the others. Also, I struggle with the plain aluminium hooks with the flat handle way too far away from the tip. Here is the link to the ones I use: hobbii.com/crochet-hook-set-9-sizes-2-6-mm
I hold my hook like a pencil and love ergonomic hooks. I don’t like the really big handles, like a girls so to speak. I love my clovers, both styles. Soft touch and the amours.
Hi Christa love the greens with the flowers they really pop now 💚💚💚and the sentiment is beautiful , can't wait to see you sitting on the finished project 😊Amanda xx
Hi Christa! Very happy to hear that you are working on the Shoulders Shrug, I love it and want to make it, so thank you very much for doing the tutorial, you are so kind as always! xxx 🧶 🐢🌻💟

That is SO exciting, Samantha Brenner!! Can't wait!! Hugs! xx
id looooove to see that lion head close up!!
Hi, Sophie Eldridge!! Check it out: ua-cam.com/video/om4mpoEZDHk/v-deo.html
Thanks so much for sharing, Elisabeth Sørlie! xx
Yes, I’m a pencil grip holder & I only use Clover Amour hooks...My Favorite🥰
Thanks so much for sharing, Tami Webb! xx
I hold my hook like a pencil and love ergonomic hooks. I don’t like the really big handles, like a girls so to speak. I love my clovers, both styles. Soft touch and the amours.
Thanks so much for sharing, Michelle Seager! xx
