I'm 75 years old. I have watched many van-lifers' videos. Yours are the only ones I make sure not to miss. In fact, yours are the only ones I still watch. Your comments are thoughtful...thought provoking. You're highly creative and your dissatisfaction with what you produce goes with the territory, I think. But I assure you the activities of your daily life are enormously interesting especially with your introspective comments, observations and monologue. I find it therapeutic and relaxing. And lord, woman, your photography and choice of music are absolutely the best! Dreamweaver. Heavy sigh.
Right on target. This particular video, like so many of Christian's, leaves us with a real sense of place that few others are able to capture. I believe the Pacific Northwest is the most captivating part of the country. Would love to see even more from her in coastal Washington.
I know you probably won’t see this, but what makes your videos interesting to me is your unique point of view. Nobody sees the world like you. That’s your jam. What’s next is anything you say it is. I get the insecurities, but you’re smart af and that’s part of it. Get it! You’re freaking awesome and I love what you’re creating.
I can understand how you might feel like you're living in circles. But remember, most people are living a humdrum life in the same town, living lives of quiet desperation, feeling trapped in a perpetual cycle of work, weekend, repeat. Lots of folks have given up on their dreams, and feel trapped. I think your life is on your terms, and that's true freedom. Owning a home isn't all it's cracked up to be. Society wants to tell you what you're "supposed" to do, but all it does is make you a prisoner to the system, trying to keep up appearances, constant maintenance and expense. In my opinion, the American dream has turned into a life sentence of bondage. Your videos are always good, don't stress too much about it, you have great talent!
Christian, you talk about other artistic creators almost as if you aren't one of them. You aren't just one, you are a leader. Your photography, composition, editing, and music are all just so head and shoulders above most. You create high end art here. As others have said, your day to day routine is different from many of us, and that is one reason we so enjoy your videos. We are there with you, vicariously. I am particularly attracted to your combination of seriously articulate script writing and narration, your child-like joy running on a beach, or climbing on a log, or being a klutz and spilling your coffee grounds. I've faced many similar times in my life...what to do next? Should I pursue that new job opportunity, or wait for something else? I've learned to listen to my gut. If it doesn't feel right, wait. Waiting is a choice too. One day you'll wake up and something will have shifted and what didn't feel comfortable yesterday may feel comfortable now. It takes time to make peace with these choices. And if you make one that turns out to be bad, you can always make another one, because the uncertainly never stops. New choices are always around the bend. Just keep taking us with you.
Your channel is not about van life, it is about your life journey--far more interesting than van life. I watch every upload and get inspiration from what you do, where you go, your experiences and your awesome creativity.
It’s all a matter of perspective. You might feel like you’re in a rut showing us the same views of the inside of your van, but from our vantage point of always being stationary and doing the 9-5, bet a lot of us would prefer your dilemma of choosing where to go next. Every time you leave open the back doors to share your views, we get to vicariously escape our reality and dip our toes into yours for the duration of your video. Escapism comes in many forms, but these short-lived ones lift the spirit. I could feel the spray from the ocean just from watching and imagine how refreshing and bracing the wind would be out in the open like that. I really love Washington. Now that we know what it takes to capture each frame, it amps up our appreciation for all the effort you put in. poetry in motion on film. That’s what you encapsulate in each frame. You’re gonna inspire generations of cinematographers with your mini master classes on how to do it right. today’s visuals of waves crashing towards the shore is calling my soul. It’s been ages since I’ve been near any beach and that’s all I live for. Can’t even dog paddle and get seasick just getting on a boat, but I love the water. Hate flying, but traveled all over to visit the best beaches. Only one missing from my list is in Greece, but I guess I’ll have something to look forward to later. Thanks for sharing your worries with us, but I bet if you aimed your camera on some dirt in a parking lot, we’d still watch that. You’ll have a hell of a time coming up with an interesting thumbnail for it though 😊
A long time ago, I was sailing the Aegean Sea in a grey ship. There were yachts and on the yachts were people who looked very happy. Always wanted to go back on a yacht.
I was thinking the same sentiments as I watched your beautiful video! It may be a rut to you but to those of us following your journey, it is a lovely break from our own ruts! Your words are always inspiring and thought provoking so I say, thank you! Just fyi, it is never boring, quite the opposite, and as a fellow PNW 'erner, so many incredible places to explore, I keep adding to my must see list in my van! :)
You don't need to be concerned about reduced quality in the vanlife side of your episodes. The cinematography and creativity of the rest is so head and shoulders above everyone else's. Sharing more vanlife aspects connects us to your honesty as a person. You are a lovely imperfect human and we don't expect you are living a picture perfection life. We are happy to share what ever you feel happy sharing. ❤
Wherever you end up, please do not stop filming nature. I think of the outdoors as my church, and to me, your videos are like little prayers honoring the beauty of this earth. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. It never gets old.
Your videos are beautiful, but that's not why I watch them. I love your discussion of the questions you are facing, how you gently share what you are struggling with, and what you think about that. I feel like you are the type of person who is exceptionally interesting to share a conversation with. As I move through my 40s, I find myself asking similar questions from the opposite perspective, and I appreciate hearing your perspective; it helps me understand that we are all asking these questions of ourselves, no matter what 'road' we happen to be on.
I know the conversation can be a bit one-sided with these videos 😅 …but I really enjoy putting questions out there and hearing so many different perspectives in the form of comments. So cool that it’s even a possibility to connect in this way
@@ChristianSchaffer It actually doesn’t matter if it’s one sided. I like that part - in conversations opinions and thought are bent towards the centre of two people. Alone they are more .. unfiltered / unbiased. Keep it up! Thanks for the reply!
I am a woman, once your age (albeit a long time ago), and can tangibly remember the need for freedom and the need for security at the same time. Hindsight, the most important is the health and wonderment for life and all that the present holds for you into the future. Every time I watch your videos, I am reminded of this in a beautiful, artistic and expressive way. Follow your heart and things will continue to flourish for you! I loved the roaring waves and your youthful jaunts!
Nomadic life vs stationary? Finally, at 71, I realized that being a nature lover & traveler, nomadic life is my only choice - & I love it - warts & all.
"what should I do with my life? am I always gonna live in a van?" - think about people with a day job asking themselves the same question about their career. I think we're all thinking about whether the grass is greener on the other side. I watch you and others to wind down at the end of the day. I really appreciate what you are doing and the artistic quality in your work is top notch. Be well ✌️
Since you asked for suggestions -- I'll say that every time I see a flash of your fridge or brief cooking clips in your footage I’m always so impressed by how healthily you manage to eat even while living on the road and in such a limited space. A “What I Eat in a Day” video might not be quite your style, but if you could occasionally feature how you meal plan and what you like to cook while living your lifestyle I’d find that interesting / inspiring!
Wow, wow, wow! Christian, what on earth are you doing? Your sound design, your images, your storytelling, what a master-class! I am moved, inspired and captivated by your work. Your solitude and sacrifice to hone your craft, and follow your heart has come at a cost. I love your authenticity, the coffee and problems are relatable. I feel like it's an overlap between your life and mine. It's connection. You're work is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you 😊
The exquisite composition and stunning cinematography drew me in right away on this one. I was mesmerized. Your coffee chat nailed it, too. We want what you are giving us, which is exceptional van life content and artistry through your ability to produce dynamic and captivating videos. Yes, it can all change the moment a door swings open for you (and it will), but in the meantime you are inspiring us in a variety of ways. My motto is: “Do what you love and love what you do.” Thank you for sharing your unique life with us while you discover that balance. Life is a journey and we are loving yours.
I wonder what it would look like if you made a vanlife short film with the arc of a story. A road film maybe? I bet it would be great. Your story telling skills are there.
@@koiphish333Appreciate you saying that 🙏🏻 I suppose I try to share some teaching/BTS here and there. But, creating those are a very different process for me. One feels creative and liberating - whereas the other feels more rigid and methodical. Maybe there’s a way to make it more enjoyable? But also, you know what they say - don’t get good at something you don’t enjoy doing 🤓
Finding home... 50 years old, never experienced van life, but changed countries and quite a few homes. If you find home within, where you are matters not. After all, the longest travel is within. I see you have found the beauty of mother Earth and are masterfully presenting it to us. Finding the beauty within yourself will make you feel home anywhere you are. God bless you!
First of all, I think a disaster-struck-again-reel would be really entertaining! And as for your question of how to make the "mundane" side of van life artistic and fun: I think you are already doing a really good job of it. Those far away shots, where we see you in the van, making food, drinking something, they all feel very powerful to me, as if you are allowing a glimpse into your way of life with us. I'm sure you already have everything you need to make whatever type of content you create, really special!
Currently stuck out at sea, had a rotten morning but retreated to my cabin for a tea break with a cuppa and hurrah, a post from my fave UA-camr! In 21 days I leave this ship and I’m off travelling in my van in Europe, your videos are incredible and they really keep me going so from me to you a huge thank you 🙏
"So far what I've found is where there's nature, there's very little community. And where there's community, there's less access to nature." This resonate with my spirit so much I can't even tell you. It's why I struggle with being solitude because I love being in nature but I'm very expressive and love getting to know people. It's hard to find both. A community that wants constant hikes and nature is very tough consistently.
Dear Christian…. you are such the quintessential…. the breathtaking displayer of such awe-endearing and awe-inspiring wonders of Nature. As I come and go…watching a couple of other Nomadic travel vlogs…from time to time…I find it such an incredible and epic viewing experience when I come back to watch your videos. So, I hope that you will continue for a long…. long time doing what you do. Yes, and we know wherever you go…you’re certainly going to have a great adventure…making these jaw-dropping and awesome…splendid videos to share with us. Please know that you are so very much appreciated…in every minute of the time you spend out there, sharing it with the world. You're a great escape of Outdoors to watch, and I hope you will do it as long as Mother Nature calls you. And from what I see…that's a call that will keep on calling. Wishing you all the best…Safe and Happy Travels! *Vandie Van 🚐 Wings 🦋*
First, I'm over twice your age I believe. I do watch a lot of overlanding videos, and only two or three van life videos. I subscribe to your channel BECAUSE of how beautifully you put it all together. Not sure I know of another that is as artistic in its cinema photography as yours. And not just in the art of photography, but in the words you share. The depth you take us in your world around you, and inside you. I love here that you ask yourself the questions. You share the doubt of just what you're doing and wonder if there are in fact greener pastures out there that are calling your name to come and stay. But then you answer these doubts and questions with words that I am sharing with you in my head as you ask them. I know the struggles. I still ask these questions, and share these doubts at the age of 68. It's the torture of a free spirit and a solo traveler in life. It's all normal. It's who you are. We choose a more complicated life. We are just so much more in touch with our complexities than most who live in a world of noise created by others who live in a world of noise themselves, all drowning out that voice in their head that ponders life, ... and what it's really about. Sorry, long-winded. But it's your story that makes me want to share. ;) Funny, .... we can sit here and share with you, see you, get drawn into you. Yet you don't see us as you share these things.
Since you asked... I'd like to say that this 62 yr old woman comes here every time you post to breath in the stunning videography you deliver. Some might call it "B" roll but yours is much to brilliant to be titled as such. Keep filming what you love and we will be here to enjoy seeing the world through your lens. Your storytelling is also lovely 🌹
Thank you for sharing so much of the beautiful world most of us never get to see. Your photography skills are fantastic, your editing and storytelling are amazing, and all of your viewers are blessed to be able to enjoy your work. My wife and I enjoy your videos together. Some make us laugh, some make us cry, but all touch us in a unique way. Thank you for all you do to entertain and inspire.
2 points. 1) your voice sounds like music, so chill and soothing. 2) you’re never alone because you have an abundance of us followers to travel and vibe with you.
The cinematography in this clip is beyond dreamy and the story telling carries the watcher right there with you, on that beach, on that trail. I could almost smell the coffee. Maybe you could make a compilation of moments that you said you filmed with your phone. The world is in dire need of authenticity. Every detail in this story you told was like a tapestry. One of emotions, decisions, and life just unfolding. Sometimes home is where you make it. Thank you for sharing. It was wonderful.
As a therapist, I could see how you are likely constantly in a sort of survival mode, always solving problems on the road. I know my opinion doesn't matter all that much if at all but I do not think what you present is boring. Sometimes, you gotta see things You are writing your story. Sometimes you're pretty funny. It's not dull. I always tell my clients we go through phases where we survive, then thrive. You do better with your content than you think. When people feel stuck...sometimes they need to see things from another perspective...I'm sure you know that, but it's a profound need of humanity. :)
Flawless and breathtaking especially the breaking waves and sunset in slow motion. From a fans pov whatever you do know that your work feels uplifting and healing 🙌🏼🤙🏼
I first discovered your art from a photograph someone posted on Reddit a few years back. At the time, I didn't even know who the artist was or anything about it, simply that the photograph captured my attention in a way few others could. That lead me down a rabbit hole of looking for more similar pictures and eventually I discovered you were the photographer, and from there, started checking out your videos as well. Over the years I've always looked forward to new posts when you have the time to make them, seeing your creative journey, the subtle changes in how you present your vision of photography and videography. Many of us are "stuck" in a stationary world, our livelihoods depending on a job in a fixed location, so we build a life around that, anchoring us, and quite often, weighing us down. Creators such as yourself who provide a glimpse of a different type of life offer us a fantastic escape. As much as I enjoy the escape of "imagine how cool life would be if I could just go from place to place every few days as my whims dictated," it's your videography and creative landscapes, the way you capture the colors of the mountains, the trees, the sunset and clouds that keep me tuning in. I guess what I'm trying to say in this jumble of thoughts, is that I watch for your creative journey, the way you capture images and video of the natural world and the emotions those pieces evoke. So weather you continue your nomadic life, or build a life in a more permanent home, just stay true to the creative journey you're on, whatever path it leads down.
Your videos I've found to be the one video series I cannot take my eyes off of because every frame is a moment, a message and a feeling not to be missed! Knowing how much time and thought goes into your " fluid art" , to turn away for just a minute would be like walking through a gallery exhibit with your eyes closed half the time. You will know when the time comes to establish a base, probably based on other obligations to yourself or loved ones. Meantime, know that you have a community that is there for you anytime you crave the energy of another humans light or the warmth of just being bear hugged! Keep mixing up your content and we will gravitate to what topic or visual we need at the moment. Love you, Christian, more than you will ever know!🙏
Thank you for patiently waiting for that sunset! 🌅. You filmed it beautifully💕. Just keep doing you … watching you make coffee is not dull or boring. 😅
You know, this just might be my all-time favourite Christian Schaffer video. And that is high praise. I have been exploring The West Side since my uncle was the harbor master in La Push in the early seventies. I have never viewed it the way you filmed it. That is a mark of a true artist, to take what may be familiar and give it new life. It is your unique vision that will never allow your work to be boring. I especially liked the drift log walking - talk about a Zen experience. Keep following your path!
Christian, This is the first time bumping into you and I wanted to share a little something. I watched your video twice through, once with volume and the second with no volume and what arose for me was that without the volume one might glean that you are living your perfect, free life in that moments captured, this moment and honestly, is there any other? Your questions of “what’s next” are from the mind, and your video, is straight from the heart, rich, creative and full of some place that is a deeper you. I wonder, can you find and live from the place of your video was created from without volume? Let the moment be your guide and an amazing life will unfold. Thank you for the beauty that is obviously you and just maybe without a narrative.😌
Knowing what you do professionally, I really should not be surprised at the depth of quality in your content but it is always so perfectly judged and blows me away. For me, it is not just about where you are or what you are doing that keeps me coming back, it is about how relatable you are and how you get yourself through the highs and the lows, sharing them honestly without filters. I always take away something positive from your content and I am so grateful to share in your journey. ❤
When you combine your spectacular video and images, with your 'routine van life', and your fascinating persona, and your pretty face, and your great stories and deep thoughts, you end up creating something I REALLY look forward to every time you post, thank you!
It's always a good day when there's a new Christian Shaffer video! I never tire of seeing the daily routines, find them soothing and interesting. Your dialogue is poignant, thought provoking, soulful. How wonderful that you share your thoughts this way. And the nature shots are beyond beautiful. You go places that, in this moment in time, I cannot. You bring the landscapes to me that I long for so deeply. Such a gift. Whatever you film, no matter how mundane it may seem to you, is wonderful beyond words. Thank you. I hope one day to see you out on the open road.
Christian, I don't know how to express how much i love who you are and how much i appreciate the cinematic masterpiece that this is. You don't only inspire me every time i watch a video, but in my daily life, because of your videos I know how impactful video creation can be on others(because i'm the evidence). Thank you.
You're the goddess of Van Life! You are a muse to us all. We need you. It has been said already, but your videography coupled with your inspiring thoughts about life, make us come back for more, everytime. You should have more than a million subscribers. Thanks you for being here for us.
Beautiful and stoic opening self-analysis!! Commendable Christian!! 😉❤And those beautiful glowing sunset shots are to die for! Majestic and enigmatic shots are first visualized and then captured as you plan on the setting up the tripod to capture the shot(s)! Thank you very much for the beautiful mindshare, heart share and those struggles and desires of the soul. 💞
You have your style, your warm hat, your coffee, your peaceful voice, your hoodies, your leggings, your diaries and the way of living. Sometimes we all have the same things because we like those same things, same people, same lifestyle. Coast line has been always my favourite. When ever I live inside land for a while... then I want to see the sea. When we want to change things then we are the ones who need to do that ... and because we felt something!
Your videos are always so beautiful and inspiring. I can tell how much hard work you put into each one, and it really shows. Your videos inspire me a lot. Thank you very much. I can't wait to see what you create next!♥♥♥♥♥
I think Rialto is the best beach ever, love the penninsula too. Really, some of us just really want to enjoy whatever it is you share. I think I'm attracted to the quality of the footage but also the thoughts you share. Society has evolved (in my mind) to include those of us that enjoy living on the edge and in our vehicles. I am in agreement that nature and community are hard as heck to find in an acceptable mix. This was a great vlog and encourages me to get out there again.
Coming from someone who did reintegrate back into society I can tell my heart never left the open road and I still miss it everyday! I am so happy I discovered your channel this year! It leaves me full of creative ideas and hopeful for more beautiful journeys ahead!
Whenever I hike, go out in to the wilderness and see views and surroundings that take my breath away I always tell people pictures just don’t do it justice…… but your pictures do. I wish I could just shadow you and learn your ways. You are a truly gifted photographer/videographer and it is beautiful to see someone who has found their calling and truly loves their life. I’m still getting there. But I hope I’m able to find the happiness you have. Remember, the grass is always greener on the other side. You are wondering if you still want to live as a nomad and I just dream of creating a living that would allow me to travel in a built van with my dog and fly drones in epic spots like you visit. Society is cruel and I would not miss it. Much love ❤❤❤
Your videos always feel like ART and leave me feeling inspired as a creator and relatable as a nomad. I really loved the shot of you dancing by the ocean with your headphones on it felt very free. Best, Roo
The occasional coffee shot is like a comforting anchor, so I don't mind the repetition. Your takes on nature are always breathtaking. I subscribe to many UA-camrs, but your videos are the only ones I never skip. I treasure your content.
Dear Christian, everything you produce is of high artistic quality. Don't worry about the others. You have a unique gift and you let it show. Also showing the normal, mondane day to day things makes it more authentic and we can relate to that. Love from Belgium, Europe.
'Well, this is dull.' Ha. I don't think so. Everything is relative. From our perspective, we live vicariously through you. Every shot is a cinematic masterpiece and your music selection is top notch. We watch for the sense of calm...the lack of a deadline, an overbearing boss, an annoying client or customer. I personally would love to see your cumulative footage. You come across as a quite serious and mature INTJ (which is great btw) but you also hint at that other, more playful side of you that you rarely show...which was actually present in this video. You may think that your iphone footage is 'sub par' but being the perfectionist you are, that footage is probably of higher quality than 98% of similar content out there and is probably very funny. 😊 Keep up the excellent work and just shoot what you feel like. We will be here.
@ChristianSchaffer , ok I was about to argue with you but I just spent a very enjoyable 90 minutes researching INFP women. I must confess this is a first. But yeah. I see a lot of that in you. As a sigma INFJ we share a lot of traits, mostly around the analysis of...well... absolutely everything. There was one excellent INFP girl who probably nailed it. I'll send you the link if you want. I think I might look for INFP women as my potential friends. They seem as alone and misunderstood in the universe as I am. And yet you have to laugh at the absurdity of human existence. I love a wicked sense of humour 😊
Christian. I read all the comments on here. You have amazing fans who really love u and appreciate u. A very loyal and sweetest fan base ever. I’m so happy for you. You should be proud.
7:10 this _is_ art, Chris! for the souls that have seen enough in their lifetimes, it's the tiny simple things that bring joy, not emotional or even educational videos. It's "The Milkmaid" painting level of art and your videos from the Washington state are exactly that - pure ASMR experience. Thank you so much for these, Dear Christian the Artist 🙏❤
Good-e-ness you have a beautiful creative soul and people fall in love with it and connect with you each time you post. Stay blessed and keep being amazing C. Lately I get the feeling this may all change and we might loose you to your next stage of life, but you can see how many people appreciate your sharing, for however much longer we get. Cheers.
Oh, and not sure your reading all comments, but I’d love for you to show how you set up your camera - set exposure and make lens/framing choices, though you touched on the a bit already. But also if you color grade, shoot log, etc. just a short video or such. Probably won’t be a banger in terms of views, but you shoot such clean and balance footage I can’t be the only one curious.
So often as creatives we can think we aren't doing enough or there's already so much content out there. Keep being yourself because how you view the world is unique and beautiful. I'm from New Zealand so I find your content so interesting because it's not my normal.
What makes me drawn to your channel is how calm your videos are of nature and of your own quiet being and that is enough, and everything, so you don’t have to do anything different but keep being you and sharing the simplicity and beauty of nature ❤
Wow ! great shots of the ocean. I like your choice of music and your videos and narration. I've been practicing living in the now also its really a good way of appreciating things more. I understand your struggles. I own my house and I think, when I retire I would go on trips in a van but still keep my house to return too.
"One day the mountain that is in front of you will be so far behind you, it will barely be visible in the distance, But the person you become in learning to get over it? that will stay with you forever. And that is the point of the mountain" (Brianna Wiest) I like your plan, another outstanding video. 🗻🌅
Fantastic places you film, and go, and see, and appreciate for the time you have that place as your "yard." Nothing is permanent. We all do our best to make it work. Making mistakes and getting through the tough times makes us alive!! People who enjoy you and your package of creative self and earthly adoration feel freedom and taste it for just a short while while enjoying your videos! I chuckled about your envy of creators who do what you do with their own twist, their own artistic spin. You ARE that creator!! "Walk a mile in my shoes" is one many know, "watch that mile through another's eyes", will bring you full circle!! It's not an easy one to teach as I have tried with all my grown kids!! What we love to see is the life we are drawn to that YOU are living. I myself love you as the entire human that you are or care to share here. I am doing a van build in 2 months that will take several months. I am older, and I dare to throw caution to the wind and live a different way as I have lived the conventional way for many years. I have a chance now. Wondering if I should take it was a huge decision. I have decided. I hope to meet you on the road one day, as you suggested at the end of this video. Take your own advice and enjoy what you are doing and where you are!! It's not bad!! Not bad at all!!! We all wonder what NEXT is! No matter where you hang your hat!! That is not due to the place it's due to being a human being!! Til the next one!! Peace ✌️ ☮️ ❤
Hi. I'm in NZ. I love your vids, whatever they are. Poor quality filming but real life happenings are awesome. It's raw and real. Your awesome artfelt vids are also great. I watch lots of vanlifers but your channel is just a bit different. Don't ever doubt yourself. You'll find your forever life. Don't ever think. ( I'm 60 so learnt the hard way). Be happy. ❤
Love your content. I live in Washington and I don’t feel like I know how to find all the awesome places you film. I need to get out and explore more. Wish I could rent a vehicle and follow you around. Would not be brave enough to do it alone. Thank you for what you do. But hope you find the balance you are seeking and a home base that meets all your needs when you are needing that change.
Good morning Christian! It was exciting to see you in my "back yard!" Those are a couple of my favorite hiking/photography spots. And it looks like you timed it well- less people! Always a pleasure to watch new footage from you, especially while you're pondering the road ahead. We'll continue watch "over your shoulder" from Port Angeles, WA. Drive safe, travel far...
Wow Christian, the cinematography just keeps getting better and better. Not only the shots but how well you integrated them. The mood, the music........amazing. You are very talented.
You are living a wonderful life traveling in your home. We travel in our van part time, more like 1/4 of the time. When we’re home, and I watch your videos, I just want to get on the road again. Thank you so much for inspiring me to keep traveling 🧡
The perfect composition and stunning cinematography immediately drew me into this movie. I was fascinated. I couldn't stop myself from saying "Oh my God, Oh my God" throughout the video. Very very good. Big applause...
The reason I'm even going back and watching all of your videos. It's because Tim said to go over to your channel because I would find something of beauty and certainly is! Your videos are beautiful and beautifully done! Love is also the most important to him as well as being authentic. I'm sure you already know this. As you two have spent so much time together. I'm just pointing it out if you're afraid to see it for any reason❤
Sweet, beautiful Christian, every video I have watched since I found you almost 2 years ago is inspiring! Even on an average day the views of the mountains and the sea are spectacular for me bc I’ll probably never see it where you are. I think your gift of videography and photography are just the greatest I’ve ever seen including professional “tapes” I have!!!!!! I LOVE the ocean but live in NE Arkansas. I too love rainy days. I have for many years bc it seems like those are the days where no one disturbs my day. I’m all for helping anyone at anytime but rainy days seem to be days for self care. I hope you never stop posting or if you do and go professional let us know where to buy dvds.💕🙏🏻💕🙏🏻💕🙏🏻💕🙏🏻🌹
I love your creative expression/blend of video diary. It may seem boring or predictable to you, but it's refreshing to me. Your filming and editing is always dramatic and evokes emotion, and I appreciate your sharing your inner thoughts. This may be one of the many reasons your channel continues to grow. You're always interesting. :~)
Don’t feel any pressure. Just be you. You pointing and shoot anything you see, narrating random things with your soothing unique voice, discussing about random topics and about life - literally anything will make us joyful and enjoy your video. So. Do anything. Be anything. No pressure at all.
Christian! This is one of the most profound video sequences of the ocean I have ever seen. Geez, my guts churn with the waves crashing in. You've done it again...its almost as good as being there! You are such a prize. Your talent is enormous and your mind is interesting and refreshing. Your work is cohesive and real. Your goals of Time Freedom and Community are present now, though your community is online at the moment. Long term Financial Freedom, Time Freedom, and Community just need one more category it seems: Joy. A home base would be pretty amazing for you bc you could keep your van and take off whenever you felt like it. Don't give up...keep the light on in that Home Sweet Home category too. Its coming! As someone who has manifested many amazing places to live out of only my thoughts and emotions, with no money, I think you may be needing to boost your emotional investment in seeing it there for you. I've noticed it sometimes takes awhile for everything to line up before my wonderful homes showed up. Have you considered living in the San Juan Islands? There is instant community there...and though they are finite and isolated, they are so beautiful. You could leave when you need to roam. I'm not sure if you would be interested, but let me know ( is there a way to PM you?) if you would like me to check your astrology...both for your transiting influences right now and for your cartography: where in the world (or narrow it to Washington or USA if you want) would be most nourishing for you. Meanwhile Christian, just give yourself a chance to let it all break apart. Obviously you are in the midst of a big change...its giving you so much wisdom, while making everything seem unsettled. Your community here loves and appreciates you so much. We are pulling for you. ua-cam.com/video/eolLcLbkZTQ/v-deo.html Could be, who knows? There's somethin' due any day I will know right away, soon as it shows It may come cannonballin' down through the sky Gleam in its eye, bright as a rose Who knows? It's only just out of reach Down the block, on a beach, under a tree I got a feelin' there's a miracle due Gonna come true, comin' to me Could it be? Yes, it could Somethin's comin', somethin' good, if I can wait Somethin's comin', I don't know what it is But it is gonna be great With a click, with a shock Phone'll jingle, door'll knock, open the latch Somethin's comin', don't know when But it's soon, catch the moon, one-handed catch Around the corner Or whistlin' down the river Come on, deliver to me Will it be? I'm 75 years old. I have watched many van-lifers' videos. Yours are the only ones I make sure not to miss. In fact, yours are the only ones I still watch. Your comments are thoughtful...thought provoking. You're highly creative and your dissatisfaction with what you produce goes with the territory, I think. But I assure you the activities of your daily life are enormously interesting especially with your introspective comments, observations and monologue. I find it therapeutic and relaxing. And lord, woman, your photography and choice of music are absolutely the best! Dreamweaver. Heavy sigh.
Yes 🙌
Amen, Michael!
Right on target. This particular video, like so many of Christian's, leaves us with a real sense of place that few others are able to capture. I believe the Pacific Northwest is the most captivating part of the country. Would love to see even more from her in coastal Washington.
Perfectly worded!!
Same
I know you probably won’t see this, but what makes your videos interesting to me is your unique point of view. Nobody sees the world like you. That’s your jam. What’s next is anything you say it is. I get the insecurities, but you’re smart af and that’s part of it. Get it! You’re freaking awesome and I love what you’re creating.
This is beyond vanlife now. This is an expression of life through photography & art. Just amazing!!!
I appreciate you 🥹🙏🏻
sh depressed people are often very creative
Thank you for this 🥹🙏🏻
This was very beautiful. What a gem to remember this time in your life.
What a beautiful comment. Thank you for sharing it with us.
🥂
Well said @softycadence3340
This was a beautifully encapsulated comment! Thank you!
Truth 'cadence'... well put and directly relevant...
Thank you 🥲🙏🏻
Yes!
Wherever you end up, please do not stop filming nature. I think of the outdoors as my church, and to me, your videos are like little prayers honoring the beauty of this earth. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. It never gets old.
I think of the outdoors in the same way ☺️
@flockoturtles Amazing comment, thank you for putting this into words on behalf of the rest of us!
Your cinematography is next level. Got lost in this intro it is so good. Well done WOW !!!
What wabrey21 said.
I very much agree.
I know the conversation can be a bit one-sided with these videos 😅 …but I really enjoy putting questions out there and hearing so many different perspectives in the form of comments. So cool that it’s even a possibility to connect in this way
@@ChristianSchaffer
It actually doesn’t matter if it’s one sided. I like that part - in conversations opinions and thought are bent towards the centre of two people. Alone they are more .. unfiltered / unbiased.
Keep it up! Thanks for the reply!
❤
Your storytelling is really beautifull! Thank you for sharing!
The photography was beautiful. The ocean wave scene at four minutes was jaw-dropping.
My thoughts exactly, Matt! Four minutes--wow!
Had some really nice sets rolling in 🌊
I am a woman, once your age (albeit a long time ago), and can tangibly remember the need for freedom and the need for security at the same time.
Thank you for sharing this ❤️
Nomadic life vs stationary?
Your video is not about Vanlife. This is so much more. It is about Purpose, Meaning in life, freedom, ... This is about art. The art of life.
Thank you 😊
Wow, thank you Paul 🥹🙏🏻
I'm 51 years old, for me, one needs a witness to your life, that makes life complete, and worth living.
I believe there is beauty and challenge in both solitude and companionship - glad you discovered the one that makes you happiest 😊
Your strength is your combination of cinematography and music. Which is hard to find on YT. Just be yourself, you’re unique in your own style.
Appreciate that 🥲🙏🏻
she is very different to the other youtube channels. Most interesting indeed.
A poet of paradox - the gift of not knowing it all but wanting answers. Never stop seeking Truth and beauty. You are a wonderful soul.
Thank you 🥲🙏🏻
Amazing photography, thank you.
Thank you ☺️🙏🏻
Currently stuck out at sea, had a rotten morning but retreated to my cabin for a tea break with a cuppa and hurrah, a post from my fave UA-camr! In 21 days I leave this ship and I’m off travelling in my van in Europe, your videos are incredible and they really keep me going so from me to you a huge thank you 🙏
Thank you so much! ☺️ Van life in Europe seems like such a dream, where you headed first?

"So far what I've found is where there's nature, there's very little community. And where there's community, there's less access to nature." This resonate with my spirit so much I can't even tell you. It's why I struggle with being solitude because I love being in nature but I'm very expressive and love getting to know people. It's hard to find both. A community that wants constant hikes and nature is very tough consistently.
I gotta believe it’s somewhere out there. And hopefully less than $1m 😅
Love this video and the authenticity. Monologue is great
Thank you 🤍
Dear Christian…. you are such the quintessential…. the breathtaking displayer of such awe-endearing and awe-inspiring wonders of Nature.
But it's your story that makes me want to share. ;)
Funny, .... we can sit here and share with you, see you, get drawn into you. Yet you don't see us as you share these things.
“we choose a more complicated life” feel this big time 🙏🏻 it’s almost ..unavoidable? I guess to create, is at least in a way - to be uncomfortable
Your storytelling is also lovely 🌹
thank you so much 🥹🤍
Thank you for your beautiful comments about Christians channel. My got wet from tears.🎉
My hope in sharing my work is to inspire a feeling, or some kind of emotion. So this is the highest compliment 🥹🙏🏻
Appreciate this 🥹🙏🏻
As a therapist, I could see how you are likely constantly in a sort of survival mode, always solving problems on the road.
I appreciate you 🥹🙏🏻
Your videos are little treats that I savor, waiting for a quiet time when I can give them full attention. I am impressed with your wisdom and honesty.
I truly love so so many of your creations, but this one might be my all time favorite! Again, just WOW!!!
thank you so much 🤍
I first discovered your art from a photograph someone posted on Reddit a few years back.
Your cinematography is incredible

Thank you ☺️
You know, this just might be my all-time favourite Christian Schaffer video.
Your videos are like a mini-movies! don't stop! The Elk was insane.
Christian,
This is the first time bumping into you and I wanted to share a little something.
Your normally day life is where you draw depth of character, and from that comes beauty in things we love. ❤
Just keep doing what you feel. Don’t force anything.
Thank you Mary 🥹🤍
Whatever road you choose to travel in the future, I hope your creative, artistic still photography and video stories continue.
Christian, I don't know how to express how much i love who you are and how much i appreciate the cinematic masterpiece that this is. You don't only inspire me every time i watch a video, but in my daily life, because of your videos I know how impactful video creation can be on others(because i'm the evidence). Thank you.

Sometimes we all have the same things because we like those same things, same people, same lifestyle. Coast line has been always my favourite. Just amazing as ever, Christian. You have changed my way of thinking/living. Every day I look to see if you’ve posted something new.
It’s so beautiful, always different too with the shifting logs
Coming from someone who did reintegrate back into society I can tell my heart never left the open road and I still miss it everyday! I am so happy I discovered your channel this year! It leaves me full of creative ideas and hopeful for more beautiful journeys ahead!
The opening scenes of coast were SPECTACULAR! Actually the ENTIRE video was amazing!

You’re very close! INTP 🤓
@@pocketaxis-ai But I’m INTP 😂
Yes. I know. I think I'm trying to say I'm impressed. 😊
I'm actually happy that you're not an INTJ. Robotic.
Christian. I read all the comments on here.
You have amazing fans who really love u and appreciate u.
A very loyal and sweetest fan base ever.
I’m so happy for you.
You should be proud.
Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home.
I think I’ll always be creating - and probably sharing :) I enjoy it so much. Content may change, though 🤓
So often as creatives we can think we aren't doing enough or there's already so much content out there. Keep being yourself because how you view the world is unique and beautiful. I'm from New Zealand so I find your content so interesting because it's not my normal.
So true, it almost always feels like there is more to be done 🙃
What makes me drawn to your channel is how calm your videos are of nature and of your own quiet being and that is enough, and everything, so you don’t have to do anything different but keep being you and sharing the simplicity and beauty of nature ❤
I do not have any words to describe your stories. You are just the best. Keep going and keep us going. Thanks Christian.
Wow ! great shots of the ocean. I like your choice of music and your videos and narration. I've been practicing living in the now also its really a good way of appreciating things more. I understand your struggles. I own my house and I think, when I retire I would go on trips in a van but still keep my house to return too.
Wherever you go, there you are.
I think honestly I would like to see more nature footage. A silent video from you just with the nature footage would be amazing.
Be happy. ❤
Don't overthink. 😊
This is on the Olympic Peninsula - lots of national park stops out here, very safe I’d say :)
Christian, you don't know where you are going but you know how to get there... Kind hearts find their way.
Such a beautiful part of the world 😊
Wow Christian, the cinematography just keeps getting better and better.
Wow, thank you 🙏🏻
The reason I'm even going back and watching all of your videos.
Stunning, stark camera work. You just keep getting better.
Thanks!
Thank you Jim! 😊
Beautiful
People love seeing problems = Observing the solutions you came up with for that moment; maybe they can use/learn from ✨
I love your creative expression/blend of video diary.
Thanks for the love ☺️
🙏 God Bless Christian 🙏

Could be, who knows?
There's somethin' due any day
I will know right away, soon as it shows
It may come cannonballin' down through the sky
Gleam in its eye, bright as a rose
Who knows? It's only just out of reach
Down the block, on a beach, under a tree
I got a feelin' there's a miracle due
Gonna come true, comin' to me
Could it be? Yes, it could
Somethin's comin', somethin' good, if I can wait
Somethin's comin', I don't know what it is
But it is gonna be great
With a click, with a shock
Phone'll jingle, door'll knock, open the latch
Somethin's comin', don't know when
But it's soon, catch the moon, one-handed catch
Around the corner
Or whistlin' down the river
Come on, deliver to me
Will it be? Yes, it will
Maybe just by holdin' still, it'll be there
Come on, somethin', come on in, don't be shy
Meet a guy, pull up a chair, the air is hummin'
And somethin' great is comin'
Who knows? It's only just out of reach
Down the block, on a beach, maybe tonight
Maybe tonight, maybe tonight
