This must have been in 2001 as a promotion for the stunning "Field Songs"-album. One of the finest voices ever. I'm happy everytime I see he's still among the living.
YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO THIINK OF JIM MORRISON WHEN YOU PAY HOMAGE & WITNESS TO THE WONDROUS MARK LANEGAN: THEY WERE COUSINS 8th REMOVED. BLESSED ANCESTRAL LINE OF SINGERS POETS AND EXCRUCIATINGLY HANDSOME MEN.
+geekrockrats The day before yesterday I saw Mark Lanegan live for the first time. You come as a concertgoer and leave as a ...hm.. believer (maybe this is the right word)
I think you mean mark couldn’t carry Jim’s, I like Lanegan, but let’s be honest he hasn’t done anything good since bubblegum, the last four albums and his collaboration with garwood were all mediocre at best, I personally think they are shit. And I would say my favourite albums are whiskey, field songs, scraps, I’ll take care of you , winding sheet and bubblegum, seen him on scraps tour and field songs tour and before with the trees. But he’s no Jim Morrison. I saw him live on Garfield tour and his voice was shot, just not as good as he was, shame
Blues Funeral is the absolute best album I have ever heard. His next two albums were still good, the last two I've only listened to once and I deleted them off my phone afterwards, I genuinely disliked them. Same with last two Leonard Cohen albums - I was a bit embarrassed listening to them. As for Mark's singing abilities and voice, I also prefer him over Morrison. Morrison was great, had he lived and matured, he would have gotten even better.
Could easily hear this and think he would get big yet he never got mainstream, perhaps the huge influx of great bands at the time sort of overshadowed him coped with the end of sad 90s band trend, nevertheless mr lanegan left a trail of excellent songs wich i am discovering slowly online. It feels hes gonna be one of these artists that only gets due recognition once hes gone (thing i am hoping to happen never)
I have a weird theory but hear me out; ok,i've always noticed that when they do a close up of mark's hands his trademark star knuckle tattoos have mysteriously vanished and i think i've figured out why. this performance was in italy in late 2001 when international travel was obviously a very tense and cautious experiance with threats seemingly coming from anywhere for any reason right? stars are seen as symbols of the U.S. is it possible that one of marks advisors had him put cover up......
on said stars so as not to identify him as blatantly american and possibly military to avoid some sort of attack on his group? i think it sounds ridiculous but they were ridiculous times(remember being told to put duct tape on windows to avoid chem. attacks?) thats all i can come up with for an explanation as to why the tatts are not visible. probably wrong, idk.
After he got clean, cut his hair and focused on his music.... this is making me choke up a little. So fucking brilliant.
those kids were ready to dance and got ML best career moment. Watching them fully hipnotized render how much big he was alive.
This is just a fantastic version, Mark is hammering out those vocals.
I was there that evening. No, you can't imagine what kind of emotions he gave to everyone there.
+marcello252 Io posso solo immaginare
lucky you
marcello252 privilege!

Field songs is still the best album ever
...Mark Lanegan finally has gotten comfortable in 'his singing skin' 🌼
*i enjoy watching his progression
Keep coming back to this video. Not enough like this on UA-cam.
How beautiful thank you 💜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I imagine most people there hadn't heard of Mark or the Trees etc,but at least half of them probably became hardcore fans after this

I’ve experienced it myself and you’re right. I saw him on the Blues Funeral tour and met him afterwards,he always does those after a show
His voice hurts my soul.
The mix is great!
This version of Fix is fucking amazing.
I've found my Salvation!
0 dislikes. It should remain that way.
Brilliant... absolutely brilliant!!!
i know it says 2000,but this album was released in 2001
amazing voice, i follow this guy since he was in the screaming trees, definetly the jim morrison of the 90's as someone just said
He hated that comparison tho, lol.
MTV is certainly different now
@amenglayaran and more than a little bit of tom waits, his voice saves lives. i have no proof of that but i havent had anyone dissagree
tom waits didn’t invent singing this way. more likely mark was influenced by charlie patton than tom waits.
Sublime.
what happened to mtv? what happened to people?!
They had kids and their kids can't play instruments. Their to busy playing with software on all types of devices.
Stop with the Jim Morrison comparisons. He couldn't carry Mark Lanegan's underwear.

I love it
why are all the great american artists mostly unknown here in their own country? its like the golden age of live rock shows all the time in europe
ghostwhiskey Following Mark’s music since 1992! 🎤🎼🎸🎼🎸🎼
I guess they're more concerned with mainstream pop culture... their loss lol.
Americans only care about fat girls twerking to hip hop or a rap and country mix. America is anti art. Which will be our downfall
