Thank you for your support!
Avocado trees grow fast when they don't really get too much sun..I moved my 2 potted ones into an area where they only get morning and early afternoon sun and they are growing nicely...leaves come out nice and green.
Interesting, it really helps when you pay attention to these little details. Moving it over here really made a huge difference with this little guy. I'm wondering if it will bloom this season? How old are your avocado trees?
Thats the nice thing about being mobile. Im also in a 9b area at 3000 foot elevation. When it gets hot mid July I start moving from south facing areas to the west or east side of the house. Even the North side starts getting too hot for potted avocados. Im just trying to grow them up more before putting them in the ground permanently. My neighbor has 4 Hass all about 5 years old. 2 in the ground on slopes that get lots of sun about 7 ft tall now doing fantastic and 2 in the shade of a big pine tree that are barely growing and lanky with very thin foliage. They need sun. If you can’t move them from the intense heat then get some shade cloth. Over to top. I remember when they planted lots of avocados in the canyons between city of Orange and Irvine every single one had a piece of shade over it.
I grow a lot of trees in containers as well. If you haven’t tried Laguna Hills Nursery Top Pot potting soil I would highly recommend it for your fruit trees.
You should see the avocado trees they sell. They sell the clonal avocado trees from Brokaw Nursery.
Beautiful Tree!! And very Healthy. Thanks for sharing Have a Great DAY
Good morning, thank you you for watching. I'm Happy to share, hopefully this tree blooms this year. 🤷♀️🤗
Great update👍👍👍👍. I love avocados and wanted to try to grow some in containers and didn't realize that they were difficult to grow. Thanks for sharing😃👍❤.
Thank you, their only hard yo grow the 1st few years. After that they are fine. Thye need protection for the first few years once they are mature they can handle what ever comes their way. Thank you for watching. They n
@@GardenloveHomestead cool thanks for the great information👍👍👍.
I’m glad you did this video my tree was on the south side and it it got full sun and it has lost some of its color it’s in rehab
Lol, rehab! Yup! When ever I get a new tree I place it where ever I want it and I pay close attention to it. If it thrives I'll leave it there but if I see any signs of distress I try to figure out what is cousin it and make adjustment. In this case I had to move it, and wala it love it's new spot.
Wow! What a great job! I have two that I started last year. I was going
to put them in the ground, but since I saw your video i think I'll transplant them in bigger pots and see how they do. Love your garden!😍
Hi Yolanda, you might want to out them in a bigger container and when they get a little bigger you can out them in the ground. If you have the space so fire put them in the ground they will grow bigger and produce alot more. I don't have the space so container it is. If you read below there is a person whom said he has them in the ground but has shade clothe on it year round because it's a young tree.
Awesome! Unfortunately, I have a huge yard. 😁 lots of work! Thank you so much!👍🌳🌹
Nice! Remember when a plant wants more light it will grow stretch upwards trying to grow taller to where the light isn't obstructed. Maybe a sunscreen during summer on the south side would help keep it bushier.
I just purchased a 5gal Mexicola Avocado tree for $20 grom Costco. The tag says it will grow 14ftH by 14ftW. It's a cold hearty variety in the mid teens.
I will transfer it to a 15gal pot soon. Keep us updated ur tree.
Wow that is an amazing buy! I wish my Costco would carry trees but they dont
Great channel. I'm glad I found you. What kind of soil did you use and how do you water your container avocados. I've killed 4 avocado trees from root rot. Very frustrated and wasted time (years!)
Hi, thank you for your support. Avocados love water but do t like to sit in water. So the type of soil you use is sooooo important 🙂!
You topped it 😉
That is a fantastic avocado..Thank you for sharing
Thank you, I'm excited too. Hopefully we get flower this season 🤗
Can you do a video of transplanting your Avocado into a bigger whiskey barrel?? I have a Haas that needs to be transplanted and would like the How To....
Your plants are gorgeous.
Thank you 🤗
Thanks for the update
Of course! You are welcome! It's doing great, hopefully it will bloom this season. We will see.
Great video. And a beautiful tree it is, I am amazed by it. What do you do with leaf browning and when should I cut the top off. I don't want it to get tall but right now it's about 4 feet tall.
Beautiful tree
Thank you 🤗 cant wait till it flowers 😊
How many years can change, thanks for sharing greetings from new friends
I would change it every 2 to 3 years but feed it monthly during the growing season.
Hi Diana, great update, next one due is on the loquat. Did any of the flowers set fruit? And any word on the broken branch you tried to repair or air layer? Does it look as if it's still alive? 😊
Hi, oh yes I will do an update on the loquat. Some fruit did set and the air layer is still there 🤗 keeping my fingers cross. Update coming up 😊
My Valencia and Navel are fruiting too
That's awesome! Are they in the ground or in pots?
What size pot was it in when you first purchased this tree?
Was it a 5 gallon container?
I'm impressed at thw size of those leaves.
Do an update on this tree.
I'm searching for a Sir Prize & a Lam Hass trees. I will be growing them in a pot for the first 3 years before putting them in the ground.
Hi Robert, yes this did come in a 5 gallon container. I actually bought at a big box store. I didnt want to spend to much money, specially not knowing if it would make it through the 1st winter. I like your plan, I think you will be setting it up for success. I purchase this three almost 2 years ago. Thank you for stopping by, ill make sure to continue to post updates on this tree. Have a great day.
Cool I got some houseplant avocados and other tropical in upstate ny
Such a strong beautiful tree. I am surprised that everything looks so good after snow! Your poor trees must have been shocked to feel that on their leaves.
Thank you, it's been doing really good considering the crazy weather. Our snow was nothing like yours. It was just a little bit lol. We California's are funny when a get a little extreme weather lol..
Very nice Hass Tree! What kind of soil are you growing it in your container? It likely will flower in April or May. Can you make a video on the Hass soil?
HI sure, I'll make a video shortly. I have a formula that I use on all my Fruit tree.
how big is that container? i have mine in a 19 inch container. i think i need to put it in a larger container.
I think its 23 inches but not sure. I did make a video when I measure most of my containers. I just transplanted this tree, video coming soon.
Im in Central California near the coast zone 9b and I have two mexicola grande avocados in containers and one lamb hass in a 40” wooden container that I made myself and they all flower when the temperatures get warmer after winter... Last year I had tons of flowers in late April and early May... make sure to use some fish fertilizer around March and it should blossom like crazy... Nice tree 🙂🙂
who that is some great feedback, they flower :) did they get any fruit? I'm really hoping this tree can grow some fruit. ill keep my fingers cross for now. I live in southern California zone 9b too. however living near the coast you might be able to grow a lot more than me. We get very extreme heat here.
Has it fruited in a container before?
Unfortunately it has not. This is the last year I'm going to wait and see if it fruits. 🤞
Such a beautiful tree....I was wondering if you put frosted clothes on in winter?
Are you going to have any fuits?! Pretty excited.
Hi, has the avocado born some fruit in the pot yet? I am wondering because I am thinking on starting one from seeds.
Can you pls update your avocado tree ?I would live to see...thanks ...Sarah
Absolutely, Ill make one this week. Its still hanging in there. So far its doing good. 🙂🤗
It's huge.
Thank you!
Can you try growing avacado tree from seed in a plastic tote. I grew a avacado tree from seed in a plastic tote and the tree us 9 feet tall
So nice! I would love to see a detailed video on starting a tree from baby to where it has grown to now! I want to grow one :)
I havent grow much from seeds, but when I do I will make a video.
how often were you watering the avocado in the container?
Have you thought about doing a air layer on your tree
Not yet, maybe when it gets a little bigger.
Hi watching your video ❤️ how's your avocado tree now did you transfer in the ground or still in the pot? Thank you ❤️ hope you read this
It looks like she doesn’t have space for the ground tree, I think it’s still in the pot. I also don’t have space and I’m happy I found her videos.
Have you started it from seed ?
Probably not, look how hefty that is😂
Update pls
Will do 🙂
😍Did you start it from seed?!i have my seeds going now
Yes I not, this was a tree from a big box store and it was grafted. I love to hear your results keep me posted please. Thank you for watching and for your support with my channel. Have a blesses day!
Does it give fruite where snowing?what are winter tempeture?plz can you informe me about HASS avocado ?does it tolerate frost or tempeture 10~15 digree in winter season?
Hass dosnt tolerate prolonged temperatures that low.Mexicola is much more cold hardy. Lila is a cold hardy smaller tree you could get online but expensive. Houston Nurseries carry it or check on line. Smaller tree at full maturity.Gem Hass is a smaller tree finally being sold at nurseries. It is said to taste better than Hass and a smaller tree more cold hardy that produces well every year where has produces well every year. Their are many great varieties of Avaçado. The Sir Prise is a B pollinator you can get at big box stores. Google Has and you will find out information. Hope this helps some for those looking for information. Too me a long time to finally get more information on these wonderful varieties of Avacados. Makes me want to have enough land to grow a lot of different varieties. F your trying to grow in cold temperature be sure to bring inside during cold weather. Before the cold weather water well and continue to spray tree with water. It's suppose to protect Avaçado from frost according to professional growers I follow. Haven't tried it myself. Wishing everyone luck in growing my favorite tree. Cheers🥂
What type of soil are you using? Did you make your own potting soil?
I used let over potting soils for for citrus and palm, Sure start from EB stone, a little compost, and worm castings. I hope that is helpful.
It definitely helps. I was recommended to use mainly cactus soil and I think that would be too much rock, too much drainage. I'm thinking your left over citrus soil has slightly less bio mater as time goes, more sand and fine rocks. I will see if that works. Thank you
My furete is in the ground for 1 yr and has leaves the size of my hand. I have a shade cloth over it all year round. I live in central valley, zone 9b
That's awesome! Thank you for sharing this information. They are a little delicate until they mature. I'm sure will be fine with out the shade clothes in a few years.
Hi
Hello, welcome to our channel
@@GardenloveHomesteadpleased to meet
is it gonna produce fruit?
I really hope so. this was an experiment. I'm not sure if avocado's can thrive an produce fruit. we will see together.
Any fruits yet?
Not yet, but its full of leaves now 🤗
Is that a dwarf hass?
Hello, no it is a stander variety. However I am looking for a dwarf avocado. welcome to my channel.
