I GOT MY FIRST KLEIN BOTTLE (from Cliff Stoll)

- I bought my first Klein Bottle on Amazon. It is sold by Cliff Stoll. And of course, I tried to fill the Klein Bottle but of course, it didn't work. I know I need to submerge the bottle to a bucket of water but I just wanted to do it the usual way first for fun!
I bought mine here: 👉 amzn.to/3EbpbHa

math, but FAST!
Next week: Steve unboxes a tesseract.
Should I?! 😆
@@bprpfast I think the viewers would love it.
Yes
Unboxing without opening the box :D
Then he found out the box is the Tesseract

alternate title: one and a half minutes of trying to pour water into a Klein bottle
Isn't it weird and awesome that there is a whole community on the internet that holds famous klein bottle makers? I mean, we know exactly from whom you've got this bottle, and we love him.
I mean, the Klein bottles are fairly low on the list of things that should make Cliff famous. Actually his professional expertise (astronomy) is probably at the bottom.
When a man can do integrals in 2 mins, but he can't fill a bottle in the same time (i'm kidding) is weird see you not doing math
But topology IS math.

The "uh- anyway" at the end was just beautiful
Be a mathematician, a physicist, an engineer, whatever you like, your brain will always react the same when trying to figure out this kind of objects
Congratulations! Cliff really is a sweet guy, and his bottles are amazing!
Nice design! There is air in that big chamber. When water comes in, the air is squeezed (so the squeezed air has a greater pressure than the outside environment air pressure), This leads to a height difference for the water level. And we can calculate the pressure difference from the water's height difference😃 So the equation is: (rho is water density, g=9.8 m/s^2)
Inner squeezed air pressure+ rho*g*h_in = environment air pressure + rho*g*h_out
I like your funny words magic man
This is like when I'm paying attention to my maths teacher but dont understand anything
4th dimensional bottle ☠️☠️
It is actually a 2D manifold in the 4th dimension.
@@pi_xi 4d object's 3d manifold captured and played on 2d screen 🙂
No, the Klein bottle has only two dimensions. It has an area, but no volume. However, you cannot have a true Klein bottle without a hole and self-intersection in a 3D world. This is for same the reason you cannot only have true (self-intersection-free) Moebius strip in the 2D world, bu you actually can have one in the 3D world.
Klein bottles are truly a masterpiece in the topology world of mathematics
I have one myself and I love all the effort Cliff puts into packaging it!
Try a straw like aquarium tube to bypass air pressure
WOW. I get fascinated by these stuffs. 😀😀
He sounds like a kid unboxing his Christmas present 😂
Top tier reaction 🤣
This is exactly what I wanted to see when I discovered Klein bottles are a thing a few minutes ago. I was pretty disappointed by UA-cam until I found this video. Thank you.
Cliff Stoll is one of my favourite people on Numberphile
Finally we will see some topology stuff on this channel.
As an engineer specializing in fluids, I just want to say "Bless your Heart"
When you have the water level at two different heights, like just before the end of the video, try sticking a flexible straw in there to give the air from the inner chamber a way to escape and make room for more water.
For anyone who doesn't know, Cliff Stoll is a physicist, famous for having documented one of the first cases of a hacker remotely attacking a computer system in the early 1980s in his book, "The Cuckoo's Egg", which I highly recommend to anyone interested in computer science and its history.
I remember someone saying that they don't like geometrical problems 🙄
next video: unboxing a coordinating plane.
WOW 100% GOLD
now find the surface area of this klein bottle
Just turn it sideways and try again. If it is not working, just use a flexible rubber pipe
Do you ever go up to the SF Bay Area? I’m sure you would have a great visit with Dr. Stoll at his house in Oakland!
It would be a great honor for me if I can visit him 😃
On his website, he says he loves to host visitors! With *current world event* I'm sure it's more complicated, but if I ever end up in the area, I'd love to meet Cliff.
just fast Numberphile just posted a new video with Cliff and his wife, which was honestly quite surprising. You should hit him up for your next holiday, pack a whiteboard and a few colored markers, derive the volume of an ellipsoid or something.
And now paint it with the maximum number of colors every map on a klein blottle can be painted with (without two regions with same color touching)
I got one for Christmas this year and they're really cool, I won't be filling mine with water though
omg that looks soo cool! I didn't know it was called a klein bottle
Its easy,,, you can put one drinking staw. To get the air inside the bottle out. And you can fill it Full....
You can fill IT with an suringe and an Long flexibel tube
Best outro on UA-cam
Remember if everything fails read the instructions
Cliff Stoll's body language is basically cardio.
FYI Cliff Stoll is the super enthusiastic old guy on Numberphile
Man, i like your shirt 😁
Awesome , I want one too
Such a cool mathematics collectible! The problem with filling it with water is that it has 0 volume 😉.
The key is to hold the bottle in a tub of water while doing the tipping movement, it basically just lets air out for water to come in little by little.
The internal pressure won't let the water go in easily.
Let's make a contest on filling up a Klein bottle 😍
The disc whose boundary is the selfintersection of the Klein bottle model was removed; that is, you filled a Klein bottle with a disc removed.
I love Cliff Stroll
This reminds me of Numberphile. They also showed the Klein Bottle.
He said he got the bottle from Cliff Stoll, which if i remember correctly, is the name of the guy that was on numberphile with the klein bottles under his house. Amazing coincidence!
I think you should try to fill it with a long straw (to pump out the air).
I would think if you kept the passage horizontal to the ground, you would be able to fill it a bit more than half way full. Just a thought.
thats a good idea and i wish i could try it myself to see if it works but i do not have a klein bottle
Put it inside a water bucket.I think it will work
"Anyway"
😅
If you want to fill it up you need to put in a straw to let the air out.
The air should escape through 4th dimension. Doh

Btw, an actual klein bottle cannot exist in 3 dimensions, it is only a 3d projection of the actual 4d klein bottle😉
This IS a 4-D Klein bottle. We just can't see it on our screens. 😁
needs to poke the water with something thin to break the vacuum
You can just vacuum the inside space of this bottle with tiny hose and fill it with suction...
Lol why so hesitant near the end to tip it more? The water would have entered.
You can fill it by water pressure
Made me wanna itch my brain

I thought water seeks its own level
Add a straw
I also have a klein bottle!
Seems like Puzzling it
Yoooo niceeeee.
The bottle's gotta be on its side

try submerging it
get a rubber tube or something and put it thriughthe bend and then suck out the air

The kinetic energy of the water applied into slightly archlenghted sideways consequencing on the motion of drag of the water to be way more weaker by applying the overall curl at it's hydraulics, that's why the klein bottle when poured water is hard to clean.

Klein bottle isn't actually a bottle..
It is flash from german which means area, not bottle xD
Just blow into the bottle using mouth😂
Hose pipe.
As a 12 year old child you should not believe me but I think I know how to fill it in, Maybe stuff a straw in so air will leave the bottle, because air takes up space ;-;.
anyway
It's not a real Klein bottle only a 3D representation.
This is not a true Klein bottle because it has a hole
Надо под напором.
uh anyway
