I Made the First Klein Bottle Terrarium (Very Difficult)

- Klein Bottle Terrarium... Here we go! I've been planning this one out since I got the suggestions awhile ago and I knew it had to be done. This was by far one of the most challenging terrarium builds I've done to date and I'm sure it won't be the last. Let me rephrase that, it will probably be the first/last Klein Bottle terrarium, but not the last challenging build.
I don't have much to say other than that. I hope that you enjoy this build because it wasn't easy to pull off. In fact, I almost didn't do it, but I pushed through and made it happen. Enjoy!
If you have any comments, suggestions or questions, leave them down in the comments! Also for additional content like this, photos of my terrariums, projects sneak peeks and more, follow me on Instagram @SerpaDesign. / serpadesign
Want to buy a Klein Bottle? There's aren't many places to get one, but here's where I got mine. www.kleinbottle.com/
Also I'm sure someone will ask about the flexible grabber. Here's the one that I used in the video. amzn.to/2tohWcD

Finally got a chance to make a Klein Bottle terrarium! Did you enjoy the build? Also as I said in the video, there's much more to come in 2019 and beyond. I'm working on a ton of terrarium build and will release them over the course of time.
how to check if the terrarium is sufficiently hydrated?
Did you already show it to Cliff?
Magnets are the answer you are looking for for cleaning it!!!!
I admire your dedication, sir. Nothing good comes easy.
As far as I know he hasn't seen it.
You should team up with a glass blower! lol Have them create some sort of unique and custom Terrarium for you and then you do the build. What is YOUR dream of building?
I actually want to learn to blow glass for myself, but I like this idea.
Bonnie Hyden that’s actually a great idea!
Yeah you should totally do that
Just here to like and comment this idea so it gets higher up the comment chain :)
@@SerpaDesign I sometimes watch the Corning Museum of Glass here on YT. There are some big name artists there. Contact several...tell them you'd like to learn...apprentice under them. See what happens. All they can do is say 'no'. One never knows what might happen.
A Klein Terrarium seems like a pretty safe place to live right about now.
You again
underrated
Omg so topical covis scawy!!
You've got the patience of a saint. I've got an anxiety attack just watching this.
Haha! A few choice words may or may not have been said, but I did my best to keep my cool.
Me too!
Me too! Breathing hard watching this
Nearly threw my phone lol

What if you use a magnet on a cotton ball on the inside and a magnet on the outside to get those spots you couldn’t reach that you mentioned?
Yeah I think it could work. Maybe I'll experiment with the idea.
Oooh, I like that idea! A tiny aquarium scrubber!
That's a really good idea. Maybe coat the magnet in a thin layer of silicone (to not scratch glass if it flips or drop) and then stick a thin piece of foam on it. Oh my... you could have used a similar idea to get material into the klein bottle! Make a small tube, like a mini elevator (think the transport tubes in Futurama) with an opening on the side of the top, and glue a magnet inside. Fill it with material, push it up the klein bottles opening with a stick, connect the magnets, and drag to drop material into the bottle.
Came here to recommend this.
@@stealthbeastgaming me too
Salt and Pepper shaker terrariums would be cool making them drastically different in appearance like salt and pepper.
Yeah man I got you! S/P terrariums are on the list.
Lululipes hahahahahaha there is no thing as too small for serpa
@@lululipes4382 you don't know my boy Tanner he specializes in the impossible 😂
@@SerpaDesign Salt for a white desert sand terrarium appearence,
Pepper for a dark and soily forest terrarium look?
@@SerpaDesign where is it???
You utter madman.
A madman you say?
Cliff would be proud to see one of his Klein bottles used in such a beautiful manner, well done sir.
This just popped up in my recommended section...
Thank you youtube, I'm now interested in terrariums
Same
Same
And topology??!!?
When coming off channels like this accidentally, I sometimes think, just how many cool but underrated channels are there in youtube?
Use the search feature and be amazed. I've semi retired and do nothing but.
Agreed.
I tried to say your name out loud and my furniture started floating
@@iron1975 lol u got me 🤣
The air would have been turning blue if I was to try this. You have much more patience than I , but thank you for showing a very interesting build.
Haha! I'm glad you liked it.
Has numberphile seen this yet?
This is the opposite of ASMR, so frustrating to think of doing but you did an amazing job!
Lol! Think about it from my perspective. 😂
@@SerpaDesign no thanks, I have enough stress lol
3:54 Every kid ever talking about claw machines. So impressed with this terrarium Tanner! Great job, absolutely amazing done!
Haha! Glad you enjoyed the video.
What are you trying to day with the emojis lol it can be a very odd thing if you look at it
'Tons of crazy projects coming up' more crazier than this??
Yes! This is just the tip of the iceberg.
WHAT?!?!?!? 😲😲😲😲😲
Very cool. I bet someone's also done a ship in a Klein bottle
Very difficult build but turned out really well. Cool concept.
There's a way that movie special effects people create articulated tentacles that might be a cool way to populate a terrarium like this. Lot more effort required to build it, but it might let you place things easier. The video "Animatronic Character Basics - Cable Controlled Tentacle Mechanisms" from Stan Winston School is a good intro to it. I have no affiliation. But when I saw you struggling to get things into that vessel that mechanism popped into my mind.
Good tip! I'll look into it for sure. It might be something worth knowing for future terrarium builds.
So beautiful!! The simplicity is what makes it stunning in my opinion! I love terrariums & got my son into it. He brought me some moss from his ride in the woods on a four wheeler the other day. I was beyond proud of him!
If this isn’t the definition of dedication idk what is... lol I liked this before even watching the whole thing purely because of how many hours went into making this and the amount of effort this took. Really good job dude!!
Thanks! A lot of time is put into each production, but this one was definitely one of the more tedious builds.
Klein bottles are my FAVORITES, I love this so much! I can't wait to see the progress updates down the road!
Really appreciate you doing this. We can clearly see how difficult this was and how much time you spent on it. Thank you for your efforts and attempt at trying and not giving up.
As a glassblower, this has got to be the coolest use of a klein bottle I've ever seen! Well done.
At least you tried and it turned out good and most importantly you never gave up!
This is great! I like the challenges of the not so ordinary ✌
Really? I like your profile pic from the borderlands series, one of my fav games ever
@@alexanderchan4486 I was gonna say the same I'm in love with bl2 lol
@@codyhummell9409 I was always more of a b1 fan as I first got it free with gold, played through it on every character, and then did the same for b2, I did play the prequal but not nearly as much as the first two
@@alexanderchan4486 I enjoyed one I havent been able to find a version on ps4 though unfortunately. That game is what made me fall in love with boarderlands but bl2 is what made me stay. I was really bummed with the pre sequel though so hopefully 3 turns out as a mix of the loot system of the pre sequel and bl1 and the depth and content of bl2. Fingers crossed though lol
I bet he's now the best claw machine player on earth. xD
hey i have an idea! what if you can take a plant that grows very long and plant it at the opening of the bottle where the cork is? i think it will look really cool if you can pull that off. Great video by the way. Awesome content
This is by far the most wholesome channel I watch. Keep up the good work!
Pro tip: use a magnetic cleaner
Ez to get in and out
You should add something to the end of the cork like a miniature squirrel so it looks like he's sitting on a tree stump :)
Encountering beauty in a hard-to-reach, out-of-the-way place is the most fundamental, ever-present aspect of exploring nature, and I think it is represented aptly in this terrarium.
This bottle is the PERFECT explanation of the phrase, 'So close yet so far'...
Absolutely brilliant job. And your description of what a Klein bottle is was spot on.
This is insane! I don't know if rage-quitting is a thing in the terrarium business, but if it ever your happen it would be with this... ;) great job!
Your patients with these builds is incredible. Loved the blooming orchid pics. Thanks.....
Something soothing about the little robot claw helping the organic matter.
WOW! I’m not sure if I would want to even try this! It does look pretty good tho considering what you had to do to make it. Also I have 7 terrariums currently that are doing amazing because of you.
I wouldn't if I were you, but that's your call. Also I'm so glad you are finding joy in terrariums. They are a ton of fun!
have you tried being clever with magnets for placement
I now know what a Klein bottle is since I had never heard of it before. The concentration on your face is priceless and hec this whole video is priceless! Kudos to you and thank you for an edge-of-my-seat experience!
I fell in love with Klein Bottles, and lately with terrariums. Now I see this! Thank you for doing this work!
Dayum. I dont have such patience
hats off to u Tanner.
The last 10 minutes of my break goes to you, congrats
Jennie Banana watch at 1.25 speed, sounds better and you’re done quicker lol
I look forward to seeing an update on this one- always been a fan of Klein bottles!
Wow, all your hard work really paid off, Tanner! Just superb.......as, always!
What if you? Wanted ti grow? But god said...
*you get 3 square inches.*
That's really neat! Now..... how to trim it?! Lol
No way to trim unfortunately. Just going to have to let it turn into a jungle.
You need a pair of a pair of 4D scissors.
Lol!
Fantastic, Tanner! I really admire your patience and skill. That looked maddening to construct! Love your videos!!!
Thank you for opening my eyes to the fawn and flora in detail. Love what you do
I don’t think I would have the patience
You could clean the inside with some magnetic "wipers"
This is pretty darn satisfying.
wow! I realy like the result! the time that you invested in this one makes it even more beautiful!! I take a bow for you!
😵👏👏. this is insane. 👏👏👏
more projects using scientific glass instruments!!!
That is super cool but it must have been such a pain to build.
It really was!
You never cease to amaze me!!! Way to go!!!
I dig it. Can’t wait to see how this gets on. 🕺🏻 love how detailed you are 👏🏼
I was thinking, "why dont you just add some seeds of some kind into the substrate and add them both?" But then you said you got the mosses from outside so you pretty much did just that.
Looking forward to the update on this one to see what "tagged along" with the mosses.
I did think to use seeds actually, but I wanted an immediate impact. Otherwise I would have.
Me before watching this: fine UA-cam I’ll watch it just so you stop recommending it
Me after watching this: well SerpaDesign just earned a new sub!
Wow very impressive! I had my first go at creating a couple of closed native terrariums. I'm happy with the results and looking forward to watching their progress. Thanks for inspiring my new hobby.
Wow loving the difficult nature of this build.
They have megnetic cleaner pads originally made for smoking bongs that would work perfect for cleaning it out better :)
"Magnetic spot scrubber"
Wow man are you a massochist? That's patience and dexterity beyond measure. Pretty sure you'd make an awesome surgeon if you ever decided to go into the medical field. I felt like I just watched someone install a heart stint. XD
Haha! I'm too old for that by now. I'd be close to 40 by the time I was done with school lol.
@@SerpaDesign well, you'll be 40 ether ways
This is amazing and mad all at the same time... love it!!!
Thanks serpadesign, you’ve helped me greatly through this hobby.
So wait a moment... if the terrarium has one side, are we inside it?
Yes. So, technically speaking, he could have just laid the plants around the bottle and still called it a terrarium, and it would be mathematically correct :D
@@TheMinegamer83 so what you’re saying is all his terrariums are inside this terrarium
Maybe use a magnet to clean up the bottle
Full points for the effort. This is the sort of thing that would drive me nuts. It's lovely though and I'm looking forward to updates
You got me into this wonderful hobby and I couldn't be more thankful, you are very inspiring and informative. Thank you for all your help and for helping me find a lifelong passion!
I appreciate this comment! So glad you are enjoying this hobby.
What monster disliked this video?
Lol! Happened as soon as the video went up. 😂
Exactly what I thought!
Probably a greenie going *DONT PUT PLANTS IN JARS THEY HAVE FEELINGS TOO*
My first thought as well. I was so impressed with this, I want to try it myself!
Probably the tone of his voice
You should have used magnets to clean it inside
Wouldn’t work the hole on the bottom isn’t connected to the edges
@@gunnerhauer124 u can push it up with something before using the magnet. getting it out should b easy too cus it would just fall out
Very impressed by your perseverance. It turned out really great!
This is beyond amazing! Thank you.

How in the world this kind of video can get dislikes?
Stunning. I love your terrarium builds
You're an absolute madman, I love it. Great job!
Amazing how 34 people are first.
But can you make a mobuis strip terrarium?? 🤣🙃
wow!! beautiful! what a patience!

Such amazement work, very challenge!
YES I wait for Saturday morning to come around every week for these vids
Very cool bottle. Can't wait for the progress updates
Really impressive your problemsolving abilities and your patience!!!
Beautiful man, seriously beautiful. Thank you.
The end result is really cool!! Love it!
Bravo, that's some hard work and looks mind boggling
This was really well done and creative. I got respect for you for the amount of time you put into doing that. I plan on trying to build my own jar terrarium in the near future, inspired by your videos.
Looks like the best guess for working with a Klein bottle terrarium would be to mix it all and add it all at once : substrate, moss and fern spores, tiny stems and let it all settle and grow. Small flexible branches could be inserted for hardscape too.
Crazy challenge you did there, Congrats !
Incredible, as per usual, good sir! I think I'd go absolutely INSANE if I tried this!! Kudos to you.
Hats off for the effort... Amazing this is
Your builds are simply amazing! Keep up the great work and take care
Only you can do this ! Awesome work Tanner... as always !
You are totally bonkers! And I love it :) Looking forward to seeing how it grows - for your sake, I really, really hope it does!
WOW... it really test your patience... Tanner, your work is really awesome... cheers from Indonesia
Your patience and creativity are beyond 100. Love learning from you, keep it up man.
Nice work man! Like the production and shot direction of you. 4 stars.
