I did this today to one of my dark grey scaled koi. The pond water was put in a trug. I measured the salt 588 grams of salt for 30 litres. Had it in there in total for 30 seconds then straight into a trug of normal pond water. After that i took it out and with it still in the net i wrapped a wet heavy towl round in and used antiseptic spray then propolis on its wounds. It had a big gouge in its nose and a side marking on its body. Ironicaly early on it had the white fungus but lately it started to be more active and the fungus wasnt there. Treated it anyway.👍
Stop hating on him, it actually helps. I used to have koi, and yes, you need special salt. If the fish was injured, you dip them in salt for 10-15 minutes to cleanse their wounds
shaun barry Well the thing is, you cancan just use table salt. But some fish can’t tolerate salt, so sometimes you need to go to a pet store and ask what salt you should use. Other than that, if you don’t want to use salt, you can use a stress coat product. Or use crystallized salt, for it kills of parasites.
@@KerrRepollo you can dip in potassium permagante for 5 minutes, or treat with pro form c and prazi pro medications. If u use pro form c don't use salt with it.
No it has iodine and its bad for your fish. Just use the special salt from the petstores or cheese production salt generaly salt without iodine. Propably mined salts are better.
I was thinking the same..... For only a couple of gallons (to ME it looked more like maybe 1.5 gallons bcuz it barely covered the back of the fish)), that was a LOT of rock salt.... The maximum dose I ever heard of was a tablespoon per gallon (which is pretty ol' salty)..... Then again, this is a (bath/dip) treatment and not dosing a tank... I myself am afraid of burning their gills....
Nothing "iodized" anyways.... Several folks have warned against using Himalayan salt, but I have used it several times thru the decades mostly in my quarantine -sick tanks with nothing negative that I have ever seen or found...
It should. Salt kills bacteria and parasites. Over time parasites will become resistant to medication but salt baths are awesome to promote slime and help kill bad things on your fish
