@@GigabyteWorld Thanks. I dont need to reinstall. The install on the HDD boots just fine, it's just incredibly slow. So trying to boot off 1GB USB to speed things up and use the HDD for archival uses only
Ok is the 1 GB usb enough storage for the OS ?
Can someone help me? I got a macbook pro late2008 and whenever I try restarting and holding option key nothing seems to happen. It goes straight to starting the mac book with apple logo.
Try and boot from Cd instead or use a usb keyboard
After I press on the USB for booting, it gets stuck. Mouse doesn’t move, laptop isn’t making any loading noises and stays on the screen with the options. What could be the deal?
It may take a few minutes to load .
Try preforming an SMC reset before booting from USB .Turn off the computer plug 🔌 it into Wall press and hold shift +control+ power button keys press and hold them from 7 seconds .Let go press power turn it on and now try boring from USB drive .
I have an eternal white screen with my Macbook Unibody from 2009... help !
Try these two options
Turn on the MacBook as soon as you hear the chime sound press the option or alt key hold it for about 10 -15 seconds until you see the list of boot devices .
Option 2 open up the MacBook disconnect the battery first then check the LCD cable to make sure it’s not loose disconnect the cable then connect it back connect the battery
And try and turn on the MacBook hope that helps
My Mac goes straight to internet recovery option then disk utility .There are no options available to boot from
flash drive
That’s strange do you have an OS on the usb drive are you pressing the option key as soon as you hear the start up sound ?
@@GigabyteWorld I do have an OS in the USB and i am pressing options key immediately. Its a macbook pro 2016

It says i cant downgrade a drive, i have mac os ventura and i am teying to downgrade to monterey, would love some help
Can you download macOS onto a flash drive then wipe the drive and install from the flash drive or buy a flash drive that already has macOS Monterey on it
@@GigabyteWorld hey thank you for the response, i first created a bootable usb with Monterey, then erased Mac HD with the option as a journaled drive, the whole process took 2 hours 30 mins (including installation of MacOS Monterey)
I can now play CSGO with ease, I can play dota too, but it's not that smooth
@@GigabyteWorld the clicking on options during boot did not help much, but it was good to know 🙂
@@gaurav19932011 I am glad to hear that you have resolved your issue
So I’m having a problem with the internal HD, it just shows blinking folder everytime
Does this method of booting via USB Drive erase all my data from the internal HD? Thanks
inoinoino booting via USB will not erase your data ,if you are having issues with the internal HD I suggest you try internet recovery .
Turn on the MacBook and immediately press command option and R keys you will see your WiFi connect to the WiFi when you get to
A screen that show MacOS utilities you can select disk utility then run first aid on the internal HD check it for errors select restart when done let us know if that helps .
Gigabyte World I already did just that
Everything was going fine until I tried to choose my startup disk and restart the mac, then the cursor was spinning endlessly
inoinoino try it again if its spinning there is a process being run let it keep spinning for a while until that process is complete .
There might be an issue with your HD .
Try it the second time and let us know .
We can try something else.
Gigabyte World I’ve tried it couple of times, same result
I think my next move is to go into recovery mode and install macOS on my USB drive, and then boot from it
do you think it could work? then, once I’m in, I’ll try to backup my stuff
Gigabyte World oh and my internal HD (Macintosh HD) actually does show up in disk utility, isn’t that a good sign??
Mine just goes back to the no boot device screen after I select my USB drive

Macbook Pro 15 mid 2009, used to run El Capitan before the HDD crashed, trying to get it to work with a new SSD and a bootable USB drive with El Capitan, but nothing shows up on the screen when I turn it on holding the option key. If I press nothing it shows a folder with a question mark...Can't see why this is happening. (I created the bootable drive with TransMac following some instructions, tried this on 2 flash drives with the same results) Thank you...
Try a PRAM reset first
Turn it on when you hear the chime sound press these keys command option P & R hold these keys down until the computer turns on then off two times it will chime twice then let go of the keys. Now turn it off then try booting from the USB drive .

Your mac is not communicating with your hard drive try command + r hold those keys down until you see a screen that say macOS recovery check and see if your usb is listed on the left side of the screen
