I’m trying to imagine KISS covering this song. Pyrotechnics, thundering explosions, shouting (as opposed to singing), etc. So painfully bad, but still good for a laugh.
I am 50 in 2023 and have loved this song for as long as I can remember but it always makes me cry. So thankful to people that put clips like this on UA-cam. Superb song
I'm 54 i agree with you this is a very special song every time I listen to it I cry like a baby I don't know the story behind the song but I have to believe that it was written From a strong grief
MY GOD, I used to cry when I was a little boy listening to this wonderful SAD song over RADO CEYLON in 1950's ..and now I am old weary and weak away from the island of Sri Lanka and I still cry listening to this great song. This will happen to me and to all of us. Please GOD Almighty when we die please allow us to be with all our loved ones once again PLEASE! IN PARADISE You promised my JESUS my loving GOD, please! GOOD DAYS ARE GONE///// Hope to see M. Jimmy Brown as well...I wanna cry more...
This song very clearly explains the reality of life in this world. Absolutely brilliant and lovely to listen to repeatedly with no saturation at any point of time.
How beautiful is this. No wonder it was a big hit when I was young. I had tears n my eyes at the last verse. I wonder if it’s a relative they’re singing of
The thing l hate most is time. When we are young we think there is no end of youth. But time is like a tiger stalking pray. We , all of us are the pray of time. Unrelenting, unfeeling, uncaring time, marching us all to the end. I love this song and these beautiful, talented people. I am so sorry that they are all gone. Rest in peace golden voice , song birds, we miss you.
This song came out the year I was born, I have love listening to it from the first time I heard it in the early 60's. I wish there was a heart instead of a like button.
This was my favorite song when I was 8 years old. I just played it after all of these years and found, IT'S STILL MY FAVORITE SONG! The harmony and these sweet unforgettable words are a blessing to all, forever. THANK YOU, THE BROWNS!
When I was a teen I was a Nanny for 3 little boys. One was named Jimmy Brown. Everytime I hear this song I think of him. Love the song. Loved little Jimmy.
I heard country music for the first time when I was around ten years old in NYC. ,I was born and need in NYC.soon as I heard it stuck to me like bees to honey in 80 years old never left me.💘
It’s a French song written in 1939 there ´s nothing country about it except the French countryside. It’s actually much better by EDITH PIAF and se Compagnons of ze chanson
@@jean-marieboucherit4716 - well I took you up on your comment and heard Ms. Piaf's version. Still beautiful but the rendering had the tone of a mob storming the Bastille. The Browns owe a debt to Ms. Piaf but the beauty of the Browns version is almost divine.
This song always reminded our mother of our father Jimmy whitsett. Little did we know that in his short life it would indeed fit his life. I listen to this with tears as both our mother and father have passed. He to met my mother in a small valley community and were married in a small country chruch. He became a preacher but at the age of 42 he was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer and died five days later. His funeral was held in a small town chruch not any bigger than a village and many turned out to say their goodbyes. Our Mother passed away a few years back, and it won't be long before I too will go to join them . This song did cause my eyes to fiil with tears but yet at the same time it was heartwarming to listen to it, because it takes me back when both were here and all was happy. We didn't have a lot, never wanted a lot, but our valley called eagle creek was indeed the happiest times of my two sisters and myself lifes , and all the love and kindness shown from the people of eagle creek valley we could always know and feel from the people who lived there the love and caring for each other as well you could feel the goodness in each and everyone of them. It was the best days of our life's and we were very blessed to have them and to look back now sometimes its sad because everything changes but we will always cherish and treasure those memories.
This man has the most beautiful voice and he made my night at Grand Ole Opry tonight. His voice is about the same as it was back then. I am 52 and remember this song so very well. Thank you for the performance.
This song could rightly be called a folk song - a song of the people. I saw a video of them from the 1950's and now this one. Almost like seeing Jimmy Brown going through time as he lived his life. Beautiful.
I was baptized in the Methodist Church and had my wedding bells inside the church in Las Vegas when I die the little congregation will sing the last hymn before they bury me... Amen
when my Dad was little he thought this song was about him, his name is Jim Brown , yesterday we said good night for the last time love you loads Dad R.I.P xxxx
So sorry for all of you and your losses! I was introduced to this wonder tune back in the 70’s by my great Uncle Don. May he Rest In Peace. Could never get this song out of my head, such an amazing voice!
About 10 years ago my folks were fortunate to see Jim Ed Brown and his sisters perform. My parents ran into Jim as everyone was leaving. Mom and Jim began talking and found out that they were from the same area of their youth. Mr. Brown was so kind to my folks and invited them to have supper in a small diner with he and his sisters. My folks and the Browns ended up talking most of the night away. My mom passed away on Aug 11, 2016. She frequently spoke of that evening and this song was played for her funeral. I find myself smiling at the thought of them talking each other’s ears off now.
That’s a wonderful story, thank you so much for sharing it with us. We tend to forget that so many of the country music artists are “ just plain folks, at heart ♥️ “. Thankfully so.😊 It is great for that highlight in your mom’s life. ♥️
MET JIM ED AT A TRADE SHOW IN SOUTH TEXAS, (HE WAS THE ENTERTAINMENT) AND WE KNEW SOME OF THE SAME PEOPLE, WHICH MADE IT VERY ENJOYABLE. ONE OF THE MOST ABSOLUTE COUNTRY GENTLEMEN YOU WILL EVER FIND! R.I.P. SIR !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it is two of my favorite entertainers Jim Ed and DeForest Kelley "Dr.McCoy" both passed away on this day. R.I.P Jim Ed and De. They both made the world a little brighter!
They were the best trio, with Jim Ed's rich voice and the harmony of his sister's, they were incomparable to any others. They set s mark for excellence that will take years, if ever, to match, let alone surpass.
Strange to see them so much older, but sounding absolutely spot on - just as they did in the beginning. This sweet song, much like life, goes by way too fast.
What is it about this song that makes me tear up every time. It take me somewhere in the past. I can never skip over this one. I think I insert myself into the story. I need more music like this.

No stupid smoke and mirrors, fireworks, dancers, etc. Just great singers and a beautiful song.

so sad that we can not find this type of music in 2024

I was a high school senior that year(1959), I loved the song then, I am still around, & I still love it ♥️🙏🏼
I was nine years old. I loved it. Still do.
A real STORY song. Just a sweet, heart felt, song from a simpler time.

HEY SHIRLEY - IF YOU ARE 74, THEN YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT THIS CORRECT TITLE IS: "THE THREE BELLS"
All three are gone now but will live on through their music. Rest in peace, Jim Ed, Bonnie and Maxine. Thanks for all the wonderful songs.
Oh no that’s so sad but what a beautiful song
Bring back this America ---
This country royality to me. I really miss these folks!
Jim Ed's voice has lost none of its richness over the years and unlike some other singers it has really stood the test of time.
shesay diamonds
I think Jim Ed's voice improved with the passage of time.
over the years he even improved as his voice matured. :-)
I noticed that as well.
A song with mean in and remembering for a lot of things for people NJ
Beautiful song, it’s hard to find this kind of wholesomeness in todays popular culture.
My Grandpa died in 1959, just as this song came out. I always think of Pa when I hear this beautiful song.
Our Mom taught us kids every song by The Browns. I can still see her in the kitchen with her radio on.
this what music should be , not the crap they call country music today
If you don't soften when you listen to this, NO PULSE!

You are so right, Linda Fox!
Like a fine wine, his voice got better with age. Compare this performance to one on here from 1965 of the same song and you will likely agree.
I can't listen too many times to this song. It's one of the best songs that has ben recorded
Amen to that.
I 100% AGREE!! ♥️♥️♥️
Just AWESOME! Thx so much for posting! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 👍🏻👍🏻 ♥️
Yes, it is super , but don't you believe (or think) there are thousands super compositions? I do believe that.. greetings (Belgium).
The very best in country music history
This song came out the year I was born, I have love listening to it from the first time I heard it in the early 60's. I wish there was a heart instead of a like button.
His voice had not missed a beat. He sang just like it was his first time.

Edith Piaf originally did this, in French. Look up that recording from long ago. Just as beautiful even if we do not speak French.
This is definitely folk music.
