I think we'll start calling this "The Thassa's Oracle Incident of 2023."
Look at it this way, we all just want to watch more of the high quality content we're used to seeing on this channel. Thoracle cut it short and left us all wanting more!
Well that is totally fair, and we appreciate that perspective. I truly hope that a single instance of showcasing Thoracle for the first time in nearly 18 months isn't mistaken as some sort of villainous incident. At the end of the day, our good friend included those cards in the deck and we had fun playing. That's what matters for us. "If you had fun you won."
There was no salt at our table and we still had a fun time with each other, a win in our book. :)

This was such an awesome game to be ruined by thoracle combo man. You hate to see it. Hopefully moving forward this does not become the norm because you guys have an awesome channel.

Very anticlimactic finish, but up until then it was awesome.
LMFAO...Not to be that person who complains about a Thoracle win but usually in like, say, in an high power Orvar list or in cEDH I get it, but really? In Yarok? You needed Thoracle+Consult for the win? Of all things Yarok could do...Obviously you do you and not saying "No more Thoracle+Consult in the channel!" or anything like that...just was a bit uninspiring is all. And BK, you call it a "combo win" but it's a 1-2 punch that goes in literally any Dimir deck. Yarok has some great actual combos, wish they had tried going for something like that. Anyways, good showing of Meren and Henzie though...Also, sick setup, I think it's the first time we are getting to see it.
Great game, not a great ending. But I do intend to keep watching!

Gonna be honest you should never be playing the thoracle combo unless it’s CEDH or you tell your play group beforehand and they’re fine with it

@@mostlycasualcommander not really the attitude I thought we’d see from this channel ngl. Yes Thoracle can be a touchy subject, tho no need to come off the way you are here imo.
My only issue with thor combo is that it has become *the* wincon in any deck with dimir colors. As long as it doesn’t become the only way people are winning (or nearly) i have no problem with it, especially on turn 7+.

I'm about 7 months late here but just wanted to say this is some grade A commentary and look forward to watching more of your videos (even if, as others mentioned, thoracle put an upsetting and abrupt end to what was a lot of great interaction)

Oh, late comment for BK: When helping my friend build Meren, one of our better choices was Heartless Summoning. If you're not running it already, I highly recommend it. All x/1s in your hand with etb and on death triggers can go off twice a turn for extra cheap.

I believe people are overexaggerating the ending. Thassa combo for the win is valid play, and it's only been featured once so far in this channel as far as I know. You all need to calm down.

RPG Pundit (The Final Boss of Internet Shitlords) also has a cat named Meatball.
And this is why I avoid out of nowhere win cards in my edh decks... We're here to play the game after all.
I largely try to avoid them as well. If I do play one in a deck it's exactly one in a deck and I try to make sure that there's only one very specific board state needed to make it work. We play casual so we're not exactly running around with a bunch of tutors and what not. I like to play durdle decks and my playgroup likes to play fast "turn creature sideways" decks so in that case it does help balance it a little bit.
The Meren and Henzie decks both look really awesome. Elminster didn't get to do much so idk about that deck. Great game.
I like your setup but I feel like graveyards should be in front of library's instead of behind so your opponents can see the cards going into them.

Great game always enjoy ur videos, no matter if its a combo win or not. Meren was owning this game until thoracle consult 😁, also henzie was becoming a little scary
Did Yarok Tap his forest to cast Demonic Consult? I only saw him have 2 islands and a forest up after he cast Demonic Tutor.

Every time I see a Meren deck, I understand why Minthara is so shit - Wizards is terrified of designing another broken Exp Counter commander.
Cool game, really enjoyed it, but as other said, that wincon was very unti-climatic. It isnt bad to win with thoracle, it is bad if the table is not prepared for it. Those other decks were more in the casual side of commander and that combo is cEDH stuff. Bad move Yarok player, bad move!

The thoracle win was lame but I did enjoy the game till then and busterkins trying to pronounce card names and of course meatball.. plus the live banter

Why is meren playing the signet the talismans are alot better, one damage is nothing to get either black or green paying one mana to get your colors makes you invest alittle more them you should have to

Thoracie is absolutely not casual at all lmao. I don't care what excuse a player comes up with for it being in their deck but how anyone could feel accomplished with a Yarok deck playing a spell slinger combo to win is beyond me. Very anti-clamactic ending that won't make too many people happy honestly.

Laaaaaaame. Yarok player does nothing until he tutors for more tutors to combo out with Thoracle. Get outta here! I wanted to see how Meren v Henzie played out. I believe Meren had the advantage. I would have used the Plaguecrafter to edict out the board and hands until opponents were out of options.
Ugh can’t stand thassa’s oracle. Such an unexciting and braindead way of winning. I was enjoying the video until I saw that. It was such a fun game too. Shame.
