Surprisingly his kit is quite straight forward as he's yet another AoE Buster Saber. What he lacks in originality he makes up for with scalable strength. As predicted the New Years unit wound up being Fate Strange Fake's Richard I. Richard doesn't have a very unique kit, but he still has a strong one. While you might not need an AoE saber, he certainly packs a punch and has great animations to boot. How do you feel about Richard? Which Ascension is your Favorite? I'm not too thrilled for the artworks, except for the 4th Ascension, but it's the kind of character that I like in general in games: an all-arounder. I'll probably pull for him in 2 years but it did not speak to me as Charlemagne.

His speech in the anime sold me instantly; charisma levels off the charts.
He’s one of my favorite servants ever but has room to grow. They could upgrade his buster NP to aoe charge lawful allies except himself by %30 to fit in multi-core, and maybe a small anti evil/chaotic niche.
It makes sense since he is all about chivalry and loathes evil.
I like the final ascension but having NP 1 Arthuria and NP2 Mordred, feels like a waste to roll him.
His kit is just good but he looks amazing, perfectly fine for a New Year's servant

It's a little weird that his kit is *just* good; I half-expected him to come with some sort of Pretender-y mechanic. Considering how his lore kit seems to work, at least from what I've read about it. Or at least some funky mechanic that everyone seems to be getting these past couple of years. Although I guess that makes a new, non-welfare unit that actually just works without some fancy twist relatively novel.
This is one of those New Year's Servants that really puts the gap between NA and JP into perspective. I think it's more than obvious Richard was chosen because of Strange/Fake's anime debuting but it's 2025 lol - the anime is simulcast debuted worldwide, what's the reasoning that they couldn't have dropped Richard onto NA at the same time? And Rasputin was releasing when he did no matter what with the NA release of LB7 but I really don't think NA would've minded Richard as a surprise extra banner.
Now NA has to wait the usual wait and all the hype behind the anime (or at least the first cour) will have run it's course. And call me crazy - I don't see anything in Richard's kit that would break NA if they would've dropped him onto NA servers the same time as JP.

For me one of the worst New Year Servants, AoE Buster Saber like half of the Servants already in the game, his kit is mid. Ascensions are great but there are so many Servants like him, skip.
