Fantastic comparison, tempted by the 5C... I currently have the KF BA225, I do like the fact the centre column can collapse down and that you can also convert it to a monopod which came in a handy a few times, it also has a bit more working height, but it is 160g heavier:
- K&F BA225: 35cm folded, 152cm max height, 8kg load capacity, 1013g carbon fibre, converts to monopod
- Sirui Traveler 5C: 33cm folded, 138cm max height, 4kg load capacity, 850g carbon fibre
- Aoka CMP163: 37cm folded, 71cm extended, (138cm with extension pole), 2.5kg load capacity, 500g carbon fibre
Whew, was about to get the 5c, not even knowing about the 5cx. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Thank you for a very informative video, especially for mentioning ballhead difference, it is very important!
Thank You for your video. I have both tripod and appreciated them.
I really like the little Sirui C5X tripod but it has an annoying hidden flaw:
The tripod head is screwed onto the column with an all-plastic attachment. Used in difficult conditions with the ZV-E10 and the 18-135mm, not a very heavy set, the head unscrewed. When I tightened the system, the thread was damaged and the head no longer held.
Sirui exchanged the tripod but the problem remains the same, you have to use this tripod with care.
Funny to see this video right after I was looking at both of these, nice to know the difference.
Camera support equipment is such a good investment. Utility and longevity, unlike our electronic gear. I still use a fluid head and sticks I bought in the 70's. This brand is good quality and offers a great value prop. Good show, Cheers
yes - in my tripod roundup next month I am going to specifically mention people like you who buy things they want to last a lifetime. it makes a difference. thanks, JR!!
Merci pour ce test exhaustif et issu d'une réelle utilisation terrain !
Je pense choisir le 5cx.
Have you been watching my videos Mark? Lol. I would be flattered if it were the case. I did a video about the 5c in response to your Ulanzi one a couple months back. At least you pronounce Sirui properly (unlike myself). Keep up the great work!
I did not see that - but now I'm gonna go check it out!!
haha - t was great!! Thanks for linking to me
3:51 lol you got me dying here. You're funny dude.
For a second I thought Christopher Nolan was giving a review of some tripods. 😐
THe Sirui ST-125 is more compact ish for the size, it's bigger but stronger. I find it as a good middle ground.
yes - I think so too. Wish I had one here to compare.
Ordered small one. For video I use gimbal and for photo I think will be enough stability. And will install my SmallRig fluid head.
Thank you for comparison and info.
no problem!!
Thanks for the info!
I was keenly waiting for the R10 vs A6400 video. I know nobody will make it as better. So I'm still waiting.
Have you had a look at the ULANZI MT-56 Ombra yet?
Thanks for the great vids!
I have not - but I really should!! I will write them.
Okay... thats cool... but you got any under like.... lets say 80$? 🤣I'm on that ramen noodle budget, but still wanna take pictures/video without issue. Particularly I do theme park stuff, and wouldn't mind having a tripod (perhaps one that can double as a mono pod) that can just kind of fit on the backpack and be taken to a theme park.
Try this one from SmallRig amzn.to/3QN65ii

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I have to say I really appreciate your responsiveness, and the videos you post. They're very helpful. This is the 2nd time you've pointed me in a helpful direction, so thank you.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Think I'm going to go for the SmallRig one, I'll let you know how it goes.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis So heres the update: The SmallRig is actually a pretty good find. It's really sturdy, the ball head mount / the swivel is smooth and when paired with a PGYTECH quick release system it's pretty fantastic. It's a little on the heavier side, but not unreasonably heavy. Definitely worth checking out.
thank you, just bought one! Used your link, not sure id that helps or not.
appreciate you thinking of me!!
Came back here to say that I received the product from Amazon and it is way better than I expected. All the joints are tight and it feels so solid and well made. It's about half the weight of my previous tripod and folds down to about 5 inches less in length. The built-in arca top with release and ball joint are so nice. Can't say enough about this. I'm only using a Fuji X100V and Sony a6000 on it, so I don't need it to support a ton of weight, but it feels like it could hold way more.
Throughout the whole video I was panicking because I'm looking for the perfect budget traveling tripod and I thought that this one was only possible to be used with the Sony a 7c.
😀
Hi, have you tried the Gyroflow for zv-e10? You could make comparison between catalyst browse and GF ;)
I have been playing with gyroflow a little, but I haven’t had a ton of success. I will keep tinkering
I have a 5cx and the attachemet that the ballhead sqrews in is plastic. Unfortunately it twists non stop.
oh that’s too bad. can you return it?
Hi, is there a difference in weight and height between the ballheads of Sirui 5C and 5CX? I would like one picture with the Sirui 5C and the 5CX next to each other, just to see the how they compare.
those tripods are huge in thickness! not what i would call a 'travel' tripod how would you fit those in the side of a backpack 😂
I think it's the balance of weight and stability that makes them travel. Most people strap them to backpacks as opposed to side pockets. The ones that fold up small like the zero y and peak design and others are pretty pricey if you want super compact AND stable 😀
Are there any compact tripods / travel tripods you would recommend for the Sony a7cII?
Btw, I got the a7c2 instead of the a7iv per your recommendation and I’m very happy!
I live these tripods (it's a quick release system

Hey awesome video. I bought the sirui traveler X tripod. Just wanted to know whether the peak design plate is compatible?
The peak design plate can fit into this standard arca swiss head of the sirui
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks Mark
My sirui T-025X looks just like the 5C. Did they just rename the series?
Which part is abs part?
can the heads on 7C be removed in case i want to used it with head used for videos?
I wonder, if the aluminium version will last longer, while the plastic version might not last over 10 years? Can anybody test this by searching for old tripods for comparison, for example?
Carbon fibre is about 4 times stronger than aluminum - it not a plastic it’s made of carbon atoms woven into a fabric. So I think it should outlast the aluminum. But I’m not a scientist - so I can’t say for sure 😃
Carbon fiber is relatively new material for tripods, but considering its other uses in aviation and auto industries, I would bet it will have a long service life.
Literally just unbox this.
Sirui 5c or 5cx, which one is better?
The x
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks
Have Tripod. Will Travel.
You need a good tripod for your guitars.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I'll tri
Have you looked at Zomei? They look similar but around half the price
I have t seen those , no. Are they carbon fiber?
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis They do carbon fiber models, so do Innorel. Deciding whether it's worth buying one to test out.
nice tripods
They are really great for the money
whats the difference between 5cx vs 5c?
like I mentioned in the video - the ballhead is better in the 5CX
I just soiled myself! I have a Peak Design piece of garbage tripod which doesn't have a wonderful little carrying bag like the Sirui so no fresh undies on the trail 🤣🤣🤣
you needed a big nylon bag
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Haha, are you suggesting an adult diaper? 😛 You're still older eh? Haha
I think this guy been drinkin.....

Does the peak design quick release plate fit on the tripod?
The peak design is arca swiss compatible so if can fasten in, yes. It won’t be a “quick release” but will operate as a normal plate
You are the second youtuber I have seen today calling the brand Suray. I mean, it is Sirui. Si - rui. Si like in "Si, senor!"
I’ve never heard it pronounced by a Chinese person, until then - I’ll still be guessing 🤣
No clips, no thanks 😮
