Yall he doesn't speak Italian or Greek he just knows some phrases. Being fluent and learning some words isnt the same
I have seen quite a few similar comments over the years so I'm just going to pin my reply here. This is why the title of the video is not 'Tom Speaks 8 Languages' but 'Tom Speaking IN 8 Languages'. While speaking a language implies you can use that language to speak, speaking IN a language just means the act of speaking is done in that language at that moment.

i think he's a fluent listener/reader in spanish, like, he can easily understand it but it's hard to speak it yourself. Just like portuguese people can understand Spanish well but can't speak/write it and viceversa

Megumi It seems like the only one he really speaks is French and Ancient Greek, both of which are commonly taught in schools (I believe French is taught before college in England?) Other than that, it's not that hard to brush up on it in your spare time.

Por pronunciar "corazon partido" no demustra que su acento lexico es bueno. Si eschuchas al resto de su dialogo, es muy basico con un acento tipico de Ingles o Americano.. Si le puedo decir que su Frances es mucho mejor ya que yo tambien hablo Frances ademas de Italiano. Pero estoy seguro que esto no le importa cuando se trata de el, verdad? ja ja.

I guess you could always say that living in Europe gives him advantage in speaking those other languages, but his Chinese! As a native Chinese myself, I've never heard any other westerners pronounce Chinese that good! Many study for years and their pronunciation might not get as good as Tom. He's just amazing!!!!

He said he was glad to visit China and “I love you”. His pronunciation was not native (obviously) but pretty good and easy to understand (at least for me, a native Chinese speaker).

Mandarin is my first language and his pronunciation is really not that great. Just understandable at best. It’s great that he makes an effort to at least greet people in their own language though.

The interviewer said something else, as well, but I could not quite catch it. It sounded like giving a reason.

it's not perfect but I can understand it without subtitles, which is better than most other actors who try to speak mandarin

I think he was using the classicist pronunciation, which is how it's traditionally taught in British schools. I'm not 100% sure though
