I have lived and worked in DC but never thought of it as a food destination. I love the food there but I never thought of it as foodie. So much food from everywhere. Ben's yes. Some chicken with mumbo sauce. DC is the ultimate take out place because of people who come to town for work and the local lifestyle. Sit down dinning for the movers and shakers but if I were to do some food tours I would end up in Maryland and make my way to Annapolis. I know it has changed over the years but the good food was always the local places outside of the downtown area so you would always wander into Maryland or Virginia but yeah some nice places outside of the high traffic areas. Also you will have to do something on explaining how the British use the word "cheeky". I hear it all the time but it always seems to be in a different context each time.
Thanks for commenting! I find every destination in the US has a food scene in some way and I'm loving my Tik Tok community for giving me the best recs that there's no way I would find otherwise! Way better than Google or Trip Advisor!!! Laughing at cheeky...I'll try to define it some time!
Ben's Chili Bowl SLAPS. Haven't eaten there in about 10 years. From a Native girl from the DMV (District, Maryland, Virginia). Old Ebbitt Grill - CRABCAKES.
Went to DC for the first time last month. My GF and I loved Old Ebbits. I even took a few matchbooks as a
Momento.
best food I've had in the country honestly!!
