Hey everyone, the expression you need is just:
loopOut();
But! Make sure to watch the whole video to know how to solve the flickering issue you may get on certain loops! Cheers!
Huge respect for showing the answer instantly here! Other youtubers make you watch a 5 minute tutorial for a solution that takes 10 seconds wasting our time for UA-cam pennies.
No problem, it does pretty much completely remove any revenue though, so there's more details in the video and if you still want to support the channel watch my other videos and consider subscribing!
@@TipTut Thank you for replying, I did subscribe and bell activated as well, will also check your intro to adobe XD soon...
Thankyou so much!
You talk too much and make the video all hard to find the answers. Also, the loop window options are not the same as you show and I am on a new version of the software, so is this even valid anymore? Thanks for trying, just not clear.
For those of you still struggling with the the flicker issue - You don't have to create or delete keyframes at all. Not necessary. Just turn on the "continuously rasterize" icon (the little star burst) next to the "shy" icon. That will get rid of the flicker without the need to mess around with keyframes!
**ADDED NOTE - Obviously the "continuously rasterize" isn't always going to be the ultimate answer or give you the results you want. It can be just as frustrating at times. Things like 3D layers, cameras, audio or nested comps can give unwanted results. It really is a hit or miss sometimes.
Either way, I'm so glad that my comment has been able to help so many people. Happy comping!
This should be the video lol
Thanks bro!!!
I knew about that but for some reason it doesn't work for me in some instances. AE works in mysterious ways I guess :) Also funny to stumble on a friendly face in a comment section of random video :)
wow you are amazing!
@@apeeatape Hey man! Ya, sometimes the continuously rasterize gives some funky results. Such as, if a comp has 3D elements, a camera, or nested comps, or it just wants to be weird that day and not work. It definitely is a function that can be your best friend or worst enemy if you don't understand how it works. It's a love hate relationship.
i have followed these steps and it still does not loop
works like magic! thank you so much saved me a lot of time :)
quick and helpful. Thank you !
Brilliant. Simple & easy to follow. Thank you for the tutorial!
Happy to help!
Amazing tutorial, directly to the point, thanks TipTut!
So helpufl. Thank you for sharing.
Great explanation. I don't know why I hadn't subscribed before. Always good work.
Thank You! I've been looking for tutorials but every one of them didn't work.
This one worked perfectly! Thank you!✨💯
You're welcome!
only this one worked smoothly for me, thanks a lot 😍
OMG, thank you! I had the flickering issue with loopOut and your video solved my issue!
Great tutorial!
Thank you. That's just what I needed for my project :)
You just saved my life. THANKSS DUDE!
Works like a charm!
life-saver! thank you so much. this helped a lot
Glad it helped!
The fix worked. Thank you
Nice! Thank you!
Awesome dude, thanks 🤘🏼
No problem!
Thank you!
Thank you mate, u help me a lot
No problem!
Thanks for the tutorial! but I have a question, my animation has "autosway" effects, which lets the object sway automatically, I want the entire composition to loop smoothly but since the the swaying makes the object's first and last frame having different positions, the looping can't happen :( or I don't know how to
just started taking after effects seriuorsly these tutorial are invaluable
Happy to help!
thank you!
Thanks for the tutorial! I had to watch the video several times but I think I got it? I'm very beginner with after effects. I think you have to delete the extra layers that you didn't cut off?
Thanks for this!
My pleasure!
great! thanks mate
No worries!
Thanks, sir.
I struggled so much with the flicker issue; I tried adding and removing keyframes as suggested, turning on continuously rasterize, setting keyframes to hold and none worked for me unfortunately. What I found worked is adjusting the time on the last key frame of your loop - go to your last keyframe, notice the red clock beside time ramping and set it back like 1 millisecond before it's supposed to end. for example, if your comp is supposed to end at 00:02:00, set it to 00:01:29, or what ever the value is one millisecond below - that fixed the flicker.
THIS ONE WORKED!!!!!!
Yup that worked ...what a shit show - you'd think after effects would be able to do a thing like looping properly xD maybe in 2023 - Thanks Ryan!
Ty!
i am trying to make an animation drawing video as a gift for my boyfriend, so i can cheer him up.
this video helped me on the first step of the video, so i am really grateful. thank you so much!
Thanks a lot, I would have never figured it out by myself!
Glad I could help!
0:38 "Cmd - shift - D" on the Mac for "split selected layer"
For those that still struggle witht the flickering problem at loop frame. You need to shorten inside the comp that loops by one frame (just go to the end of the looped comp and drag the right end of the second blue and gray line by 1 frame and then you can do like him and add a keyframe right before loop on layer comp like he did. If that still doesn't work, make sure you rasterized your comp layer (little sun)
thank you !!!
It still didn't work for me 🤕 I followed every step and making sure with all the details like precomposition, the length of the composition, and placing of the keyframe and such, it is still flickering a blank frame. Btw my ae is cc2019
thanks a lot, mate! it took me a bit to understand ALT-key pronounciation :D (i'm not a native british speaker....) however thanks for keeping it short and on point!
Glad I could help!
Thanks
Like these simple trick, give some simple tricks to work on character animation and all expression that helps in our daily routine and white board animation.
I am doing everything exactly the way you're doing in this video AND the old version of this. Nothing seems to solve the flickering frame. Also, mine is not just on the first time through - it's every time. What the hell am I doing wrong?
Hi, I like your videos, but have you done any tutorial on how to make it loop forever as .mp4 file , because when I render it, it just shows the loop for 30 second and then the video stops. Thank you for your support.
I know I must be doing something wrong. My comp is 2 seconds long but every time I use the loopout expression and extend it the animation still stops at 2 seconds.
same, i still can't make it loop
In my case only one keyframe (start) is appearing not the end one.
Yeeeeeeeeeeei, this video saved me asjfnaodjnfos thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu
Not getting a time remap endpoint keyframe when I enable time remapping. Not sure if that would be why this isn't working for me. Even if I drop my own in there it doesn't work after anyways.
same
Dude, can you tell me if it's possible to copy a composition? When I duplicate a composition and change the duplicate, the original is also changed! How do I fix this? Thanks!
Duplicate the composition in the projects panel, not the timeline.
Thank you! This is extremely helpful! :)
For all you fellow n00bs: if you're confused about the pre-comp duration, select "Adjust composition duration [...]" when you create it.
Great tip!
I am not sure whats going on but I have used expressions in the past with no issue, now I am constantly getting errors or in this case nothing happens? Have tried countless times and still nothing no repeat? what am I doing wrong
And could you give knowledge of alpha and luma and topic to be covered masking. I know how to do but my fundas in this are not clear.
God this just changed my lfie
I don't get the keyframes when I apply time remapping. And even when I put in the keyframes by hand or not, it would not loop
Had the exact same issue and just figured it out:
The keyframes *are* there, but they're added at the beginning and end of the content's full length, not the in and out points (the part of the layer that exists on the timeline). So they're not visible if you have only a portion of the full content on the timeline.
Before activating Time Remap, click on the layer segment you want to loop and select "Pre-compose...", select "Move all attributes into the new composition" and check "Adjust composition duration to the time span of the selected layers".
That'll make the full length of the layer limited to just the segment that existed on the timeline, and you'll see the keyframes when you add Time Remapping to that new pre-composed layer.
@@gillsgills I just retried and ticked that option in the precompile window and that fixed the issue for me, was driving me nuts, thank you so much!
@@thecommentator6694 sweet, glad to know this helped someone! my pleasure
@@gillsgills Thanks so much!!!
@@magrimaud1285 hell yea :)
Doesn't work on After 2018 😢 i still have no idea how to fix the flickering problem
niiiiiiice
still doesnt work,,,,when i cut it and pre compose..it doesnt follow the time that only 2 seconds for the animation..but keep 17 seconds...
That helped to remove flickering. Weird issue.
How to stop pingpong after a few cycles?
THANK YOU now I can make my silly animation memes
With composition the last step did not work. :(
It's shown working in the video - did you follow the steps exactly?
I had the same problem! So I just clean up AE cash (>Edit tad, >Purge, >All Memory&Disk Cash)
At least, It worked for me)
@@petertivikov6502 that fixed it for me!! thank you so much
@@petertivikov6502 Dang I had 17gb in my cache... :/
@@petertivikov6502 It worked with this, thanks
01:42 He says "all you have to do is crop the composition LIKE SO". What does he do though?? He doesn't say. I hear him pressing some keyboard button but it doesn't show which one?
Alt + [
Anyone else thinking why such a crucial and simple task isn't a built-in feature?
Sadly didn't work for me. Only shows first frame and is black for rest of the composition.
Steps that worked for me (After Effects 2023):
1. Composition > Trim Composition to Work Area for the composition you want to loop
2. Make a new composition and drag in the composition from Step 1 into it
3. Right click the layer > Time > Enable Time Remapping. Two keyframes are made at beginning and end of composition.
4. Move to the very last keyframe, step backwards one frame, and create a new keyframe.
5. On the very last keyframe, double click on it and change the time to 0. Then double click on the last keyframe and delete it from your composition.
6. Alt click the stopwatch next to Time Remap to activate it under the layer. Copy paste this code: Property > LoopOut(Type="Cycle", numKeyframes = 0)
Now it will repeat for as long as your workspace is. Hope this helps!
That doesn't work. If I delete the last key, it won't loop. If I don't delete it, it will loop only once
Not working in 2024. Get a weird mishmash frame no matter what.
......... and this is why after effects sucks. period
