    Cool video! However, you completely lost all credibility with the included BMW. If there has ever been an automaker which has probably never made a cheap and/or reliable car, it would probably have to be BMW. I do agree with the other cars, though.

      Hi, thanks for your comment. The BMW was abit of a surprise, I agree there's better cars for under a grand that are more reliable. However the e46 especially 320d is alot more reliable then what most people think and alot more reliable then newer generation 320d who suffered from chain failures. The reason for the entry is to show you can find a good all round German model for under a grand. Its down to buyer to ensure all necessary checks have been made. Appreciate your comment and I would like to here more of your opinion on my future videos. Thanks

      The e46 is actually fairly reliable

      Evidently you don't know anything about the BMW E46/M47. These vehicles are known to reach 400,000 miles if regularly serviced and looked after. Maybe educate yourself on vehicles before posting an idiotic comment!

    Hi to your list I would add Ford Focus and Ford Focus zetec engined. Really well built and better ride than VW. One of other factors to consider is price of parts. Ford parts are particularly cheap.

    Think you do well to buy good ones for under & 1000 unless you are a trader and cac go to auctions. I have a 2006 Jazz Sport bought last October £2300. There's such a wide spread on price on ebay and auto trader. But under £1000 they are quite old or have issues.

    Hi Moh, I have 5 grand to spend. I need economy and reliability and with a quality interior and quietish on Motorways (thinking Japanese). I am not a petrol head, I will not use it for short trips much. What would you recommend?

    • @Mediamoh
      @Mediamoh  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi, I would say go with a mk8 or even a mk9 honda civic. Petrol engines in both are very reliable and deliver decent mpg on the motorway. No turbo, dpf or expensive dual mass flywheels to worry about. If you want a little more punch then civic also comes in a 2.2 - ctdi and i-dtec both very torquey engine and will give you very good mog on the motorway. Tbh if you won't be using it very much for short journeys then I'd say you can go for both 1.8 petrol or diesel engines. Just ensure when you buy one maintenance is up to date.

      @@Mediamoh Thank you, I heard the Mk9 has a few problems and I prefer the face lift version of Mk8 2009-2011. The 2.2 unfortunately only comes as a manual gearbox. I have seen many conflicting views on the iShift semi, but the Full auto is 5mpg less economic and £90 more tax. I have seen that the brushes wear out on the iShift Actuator motors, but there's a garage in Harrow that replaces the brushes for £750 and also other places that do this. There are a lot of iShift Civics and Jazz cars around, and the iShift is a manual with auto clutch, whereas the Auto is a CVT which has its own problems. On Honda Civic forums, people say there isn't a problem with iShift but you need to get used to it and lay off the gas when you're changing up just like on a manual. Many call the transmission the i💩but no-one says what the reliability is as,a percentage of all CVTs sold to all iShifts. Apparently semi autos were created to combat CO2 emissions and so each car brand have their own versions including Toyota, BMW etc.

      Hi Leo, thanks for your comment. As I said with my other comment I just wanted to show viewers that it's still possible to buy a German car for under a 1000. The previous e46 didn't suffer the chain problems as the newer 320d and as such thought it would he a good addition. As said previously of course I agree there's more reliable cars I could have added but I just wanted to add a little twist to the video.
      My range rover buyers guide will shortly be released too - thanks for your engagement and hopefully hear your thoughts on my next video too
