It feels like the plot of the teleportation disaster has concluded with Rudy's story. He has now found all of his family members who went missing since episode 8. Now Rudeus must overcome even more suffering from the outcome of this.
It's very subtle, but in the light novel as well as in the anime Paul turns to Rudy and weakly smiles. It's implied that he's happy he could save Rudy in the end.
Gotta remember the whole zenith being with a party were not confirmed also remember that the author of the labyrinth book never made it to the boss bc he couldn’t fine the stairs going down
There are so many pieces that don't add up and yet it could be a simple conclusion such as false information... However, I will be grasping as much info as I can when I do my next predictions.
15:45 This scene hit me so hard in the LN after everything that has happened, that I paused reading for a few days. Then seeing Paul's death animated hit even harder now. Rudy loses an arm -> Let's be positive that it's just an arm and hydra has been killed -> Paul gets chomped in half -> F&ck, they had to double down but let's still have a bit of optimism that at least we were able to save Zenith -> Zenith has either severe dementia or amnesia -> Goddamn they really had to hurt me thrice!?
When I saw Rudeus lose his arm I was thinking "okay it'll grow back". When the panels turned over to Paul and he was losing his lower half, I held out hoping thinking maybe magic could save him, but now I understand that MT isn't afraid of killing off main characters (or characters close to the mc). Let alone Zenith's situation now... it hurts
"Save zenith, even if it kills you" Such a important line that defines Paul. Its how desperate he is to save zenith. But Paul will save Rudy even if it kills him. So jts do your all and i will save you by risking my life.
I think Paul was at the point where he would do anything just to accomplish his goal (save Zenith). He would likely feel like a failure the rest of his life had he be unable to. Though I'm sure he would have preferred to live to be with everyone, I think in those final seconds he was happy.
Ok let's go with the main ride, again, I'll comment as I watch the episode. Now we know why they skipped 1 week, TP3 episode was on mother's day in Japan and they timed this ep to be on father's day. However, I heard that there were also problems with the production and the staff needed some time to come up with something decent, yet many quality people ended up helping out of sheer conviction. In theory you can already watch the OP, if you wish you can also watch the trailer for the beginning of the labyrinth arc, also if you want you can even do the usual breakdown. But if you keep it for the end it also works. 0:15 well, it would have been a very difficult task to make a prediction about this ep. lol. Let's get started! I love how they showed all the party work, they even gave detail to the cuts Paul does, I especially like the double cut he does to the second head in the first round. 1:44 haha thanks for the audio warning, you know, even the tv broadcast in Japan there was a warning about graphic violence at the beginning of the ep. 4:40 At this point Rudeus thinks they should even return to the surface and hire a group of mercenaries to help them fight the Hydra, but Paul would never agree to abandon Zenith after seeing her so close. 6:37 Good old Paul bringing out the best in us! You were treated so badly by some! He's one of my favorite characters in the ENTIRE story even if we're only half way through the thing! 7:11 Those words even though he says them to Rudy, they are also for himself, he could not save his own mother who was the only person he felt love from in his family and yet he could not save her, abandoning her to fate along with his father. He did not want Rudeus to feel the same regret as he did. Man my respects to the Rudeus' actress again in this episode she really gave her best but still I think they should change her when he grows more. 11:39 Sadly one of the weaknesses of Rudeus is that he cannot use incantationless healing magic, no matter how much mana he has he cannot boost the level of the spell as he does with the other schools. 12:10 Paul dying to save his son! Hitogami's warning was fulfilled, if Rudeus wasn't there Paul wouldn't have died protecting him... but if he wasn't there Roxy would have most likely died. Thank you TP3... I thought you wouldn't dare to make it this far when I met you. 15:10 We need some good news... sure... but we already paid the happiness fee. The ultimate roller coaster... all the happiness that we started with and look how we turned out in the end... Let's go!! there are still 2 more episodes left! some say that the real MT starts from vol 15-16, for me it's vol 12 (the labyrinth arc) where the real highlight begins.
(Finally getting around to your comment) I heard the same from a few other commenters. Whether it was due to a broadcasting issue or because they planned to air this episode of Father's day, it was going to hurt either way when watching... Watched OP (loved how much budget and time went into it, but you weren't kidding...there were A LOT of spoilers) I had a feeling Rudeus might want to try another way, but when Paul got angry and sat down, he knew Paul wasn't going to leave until the Hydra was defeated (having come this far). I have enjoyed Rudeus VA as she has done a terrific job, but for the sake of the series, I hope they recast and change Rudy's appearance to make him look older. I think if Rudeus could cast healing magic without incantations that would make him very OP for where he is at. I don't know how old Rudeus will continue to grow in the story, but I wouldn't be surprised if one day he could do all magic without chanting an incantation. There was no good news in this episode... the ending made sure of that! Based on your last comment I take it EVERYONE will be watching season 3!
I love how you're the only one I know who was able to distinguish that they used the same track from the Orsted encounter, it's such a niche anime exclusive detail that really puts the viewer BACK into severe danger mentally. These types of audio cues and details are something you could not replicate in the manga or LN. With respect to all 3 mediums, this adaptation right here is why both old LN readers and new anime only viewers come to enjoy the story telling. AND THIS IS JUST THE AUDIO - SCORING And I havent even mentioned the Voice acting, Animation, the proper use of a seamless CG Monster, choreography as well, just as important to every dance, it is also important to make fights look good. everything was done with so much respect i cant---
I listen to a lot of anime OST when I write and it helps inspire me to create stories or events that I try to describe. Orsted's theme gives off this very eerie beat, like you've just encountered a final boss and there is NO hope for you. They properly captured everything in this episode. I don't know how they could have made it better. From animation, to the music score, to the directing panels and how it ended. It was a roller coaster!
Something is off about zenith being sent to the labyrinth, first off someone said they saw her but the path to the boss fight where she was kept was sealed off. Secondly the dragon/hydra gave off a disturbing look to rudeus after killing Paul, it seemed too sentient and looked as if it knew rudeus. Or maybe I’m just theory crafting to cope with this loss 😭
If you remember kishirika saw Zenith in s1 as a favor for Roxy. So there is something off indeed. But if I remember right, they Will explain It much later in the story.
There is something that's not being added up right. Perhaps the thing that goes through my mind is if Rudeus never went down to Begarritt, would Paul still be alive because they would eventually give up on finding Zenith. Without Rudeus, locating her would have been impossible.
So now we got to here in the books i had questions. Like the following; How did people see zenith? We were told that a dew people spotted her. So did a random tp circle send her there? Or did they see her in the crystal and saw a hydra and went 'nope'! But then why not say what layer? And does that mean the floor auto heals!? Or is there something else amis here. All of those were things i questioned during my reading of the last bits if this book.
I say truely you are my special moment and peak writing Our rudy is truely a glass cannon strongest mage in academy still got the inexperince best of him Now let's discuss some details -First stone cannon rudy fired was same level he topped badigadi with -Their party set up truely bad for this type of enemy -Adavance ranked at all three of sword style pall was barely saint rank still he needed the magic sword to cut of the hydra head -hydra scales was so tough and sharp just touching it will rip your skin off -dragon breath which rudy stopped was so strong that 10 normal mages would be needed to stop it if not for rudy -rudy eye of forsight helped but still hydra was to big to see it all and there were to many variable -elanalise truely thinks rudeus as her own child now and in this whole journey devoted herself to protect him even her style is parry and strike she was tanking hydra heads so rudeus do not get injured - the enemy with mind and hydra action like biting his burned head of and using his all body to target healers and rudy truley feels like we are facing a living enemy -after only have 1 head left hydra truley felt fear for his lyf and went berserk mode and start stomping his necks all places he felt the threat rudy poses and start targetiing him -rudy lost his arm to hydra eyelid which he explained that even his eyelid was like a gullitine for nrml humans -paul was cremated inside the dungeon to avoid being zombified or turned into undead as high mana concentration in dunegon -the journey back was shorten rudy fell into true despair and losing his arm makes his very disorientated Roxy was always at his left side to support him -he makes a lot of mistake while they were fighting thier way back but nobody scolding him and corrected him
It seems Rudeus uses a few key spells very consistently when he's in confrontations. Quagmire and stone cannon seem to be his favorite (imo). In a situation like the Hydra, I was wondering why Rudeus didn't try stronger spells at first, but it seems the Hydra could nullify magic (so the spell he used against Orsted likely wouldn't work). Sometimes the most basic spells he uses seem so powerful because of his large mana output. The detail about why they burned Paul's body is something I didn't know, but it makes sense. The episode was heartbreaking yet beautiful! The pain Rudeus will now face and continue to bear will help further his character. I wouldn't be surprised if he acts differently if he gets in another situation such as this.
Pauls new sword. He got it from a adventurer who couldn't cut bread with it. Thw tougher what its used on is. The shaprwr it gets. Meaning bread is soft so.... It is dull as anything . But the hydra is ultra high defense and tough so the blade becomes really fudging sharp and can cut through it like butter.
@@LykesonRose ye pretty much, the sword is legendary, Paul just happened to see a guy try to cut some bread with it and fail and instantly knew it was this legendary type of magic item.
10:15 I don't think it's the same OST, but the instrumentation is the same. Cool that you also noticed that. Really glad they went with the song choice they did there, instead of something more heroic/triumphant sounding, since it makes the fight feel a lot more dangerous (which it is).
When it comes to OST , I'm a huge enthusiast as I think the scores add a significant tone and feeling to anime episodes, and how one interprets the events playing out. I haven't gone back to listen to the score in episode 21 (season 1), but it could be a variation or at least the same instrumentation.
@@LykesonRose So I checked, and the bit that plays towards the end of the fight, starting after the breath attack, is "An Encounter with Overwhelming Power" which is the song that plays during the Orsted fight (though only the latter half is used in this episode). Still not sure what the bit around when they've cut two heads off is, the part with those cellos - it kind of sounds like "Joint Struggle" but it doesn't quite sound 1:1.
I doubt they'll explain it as they cut it from begining of s1 but bodies and corpes will turn into monsters like zombies and skeletons when enough mana runs through them. So they have to cremate the body. Rudy put him into a earth box he made afterwards to take home. Its a shame we didn't get the info on the 2 girls ghay stayed with him. The one thst cried was afraid of men because what happened to her because of the teleportation disaster. But Paul saved her and was the only person she could trust thay was a man.
I generally use shampoo and conditioner that don't have parabens. I avoid product and also hairspray, so ideally I just let my hair be natural. Probably not very clear on my end, but I don't do much!
My friends and I just fell silent after every bad turn - Paul's Death and Zenith's condition... What do you even say to that? Checked reviews and I have to say, I hoped there's something someone can say to make more sense of it. Alas. It looks like we're all on the same boat. 😢
The way I take it, there was no positive outcome from this. The only bright light I can see is Roxy being saved, but at the cost of Paul's life and Zenith's condition.
@@LykesonRose For sure. The thing about MT is that, whatever happens to Rudy, the world doesn't really stop for him. We just got to soldier on, I guess. At the end of the day, isn't that all we can do, really? Love watching you man. See you again next week.
@@fcgHenden That's one of the reasons why I love how this world building is structured in MT. Many more series should be like that as how it is in every day society. We are the protagonist of our own stories, but the world doesn't revolve around us. Thanks for watching! Next reaction is out!
"How did she got trapped there? Is it straight from the teleportation she was caught in the crystal when she was in the labyrinth?" That's actually an important question. There's an answer for that, but the following questions aren't something that can be fully answered without spoilers. In fact you should talk about this in your prediction video in fact, as you do make a point for the stairs being resealed, and that should tell you things don't line up with we know, so something is fishy in the background.
I'm glad there is reasoning or at least an explanation provided later to this question. I'll be sure to keep those details in mind when making future MT content!
I think Paul losing his sht is the right reaction when Zenith's within reach. Rudy already panicked twice when it's roxy but for his mother, hes so fkin calm (for both cases in season 1 and this season). I dont like that dissonance at all
Rudy's logic was that he hasn't seen his mother since he was 7, while Roxy was the "goddess" that helped him through the difficult points in his life. I too wish Rudeus panicked a bit more for Zenith's sake, but I think that's just how his character is.
@@LykesonRose @genegenesis3010 Don't trust Rudeus internal monologue so much, he's not a reliable narrator. He clearly loves Zenith and Paul. He's just probably hesitant to view himself as their son(And Paul and Zenith being his Parent) since at this time, he's actually subconsciously thinking that what if he stole original's Rudeus life and feels guilty about it. Also, he panics just the same with Zenith but in a safe location like at his house when he read about Geese letter, the same when he panics inside the inn(a safe location) they are staying when he learned about Roxy being left in dungeon.
Paul was dumb as a brick, but I gotta say, his selfless sacrifice for his son just says multitudes of emotions! Poor Rudy, he may not look like it but he’s really in despair for loosing his father.😢
Paul charged head first into everything, while Rudeus waits and thinks. The two complimented each other well in battle and I wish we got to see more of that dynamic...

作画もテンポも声優の演技も完璧なアニメだと思う。
これが本当の神回でしょ。
悪魔回でもあるw
Gotta remember the whole zenith being with a party were not confirmed also remember that the author of the labyrinth book never made it to the boss bc he couldn’t fine the stairs going down
There are so many pieces that don't add up and yet it could be a simple conclusion such as false information...
However, I will be grasping as much info as I can when I do my next predictions.
everyone on this eps : this is the most horrible thing happen in MT
LN reader veteran : oh you sweet summer child
Man this was really a peak Sunday
Glad you recognise the music at 10:04 for orsted OST.
The last things paul thought about was along the line of "i don't want to die, but at least Rudy is alive"
You went through all 7 stages of grief in like 1 min lol
RIP Paul
Let alone Zenith's situation now... it hurts
I love the finishing cut on this reaction.
"Save zenith, even if it kills you"
Such a important line that defines Paul.
(Finally getting around to your comment)
I heard the same from a few other commenters. Whether it was due to a broadcasting issue or because they planned to air this episode of Father's day, it was going to hurt either way when watching...
Watched OP (loved how much budget and time went into it, but you weren't kidding...there were A LOT of spoilers)
I had a feeling Rudeus might want to try another way, but when Paul got angry and sat down, he knew Paul wasn't going to leave until the Hydra was defeated (having come this far).
@@LykesonRose glad and thankful that you managed to read it haha I was very euphoric that day and wrote a lot in both videos
10:30 Is this boss fight has the same song as the Orested fight song?
It sounds very close to me, but if anything it's possibly a variation of the Orsted fight/boss theme.
Even though I read through the entire series and knew what was going to happen, I was still left speechless...
AND THIS IS JUST THE AUDIO - SCORING
And I havent even mentioned the Voice acting, Animation, the proper use of a seamless CG Monster, choreography as well, just as important to every dance, it is also important to make fights look good. everything was done with so much respect i cant---
I listen to a lot of anime OST when I write and it helps inspire me to create stories or events that I try to describe.
So now we got to here in the books i had questions. Like the following;
How did people see zenith? We were told that a dew people spotted her. So did a random tp circle send her there? Or did they see her in the crystal and saw a hydra and went 'nope'!
But then why not say what layer? And does that mean the floor auto heals!?
Or is there something else amis here.
All of those were things i questioned during my reading of the last bits if this book.
Little details.
Pauls dagger was high tier artifact, this dager had 100% armour penetrations thats why paul could slays a head
One of the aspects I wish the anime would include, but understand why they leave out those details.
Thanks for sharing!
YOU: I have no words
Zenith: me either
😶
i really like your reaction!bc That's exactly reaction that i want to see you when Rudy's father is GONE
I just waited yesterday forever for you to post your reaction video. Needed emotional support after this episode 😅
Apologies for the delay, took longer due to the cuts I wanted to keep in and I edited two videos in one day.
これがターニングポイント3…
Turning Point 3 = Long drawn out pain
ターニングポイント 3 = 長く続く痛み
I say truely you are my special moment and peak writing
Our rudy is truely a glass cannon strongest mage in academy still got the inexperince best of him
Now let's discuss some details
-First stone cannon rudy fired was same level he topped badigadi with
-Their party set up truely bad for this type of enemy
-Adavance ranked at all three of sword style pall was barely saint rank still he needed the magic sword to cut of the hydra head
-hydra scales was so tough and sharp just touching it will rip your skin off
-dragon breath which rudy stopped was so strong that 10 normal mages would be needed to stop it if not for rudy
-rudy eye of forsight helped but still hydra was to big to see it all and there were to many variable
-elanalise truely thinks rudeus as her own child now and in this whole journey devoted herself to protect him even her style is parry and strike she was tanking hydra heads so rudeus do not get injured
- the enemy with mind and hydra action like biting his burned head of and using his all body to target healers and rudy truley feels like we are facing a living enemy
-after only have 1 head left hydra truley felt fear for his lyf and went berserk mode and start stomping his necks all places he felt the threat rudy poses and start targetiing him
-rudy lost his arm to hydra eyelid which he explained that even his eyelid was like a gullitine for nrml humans
-paul was cremated inside the dungeon to avoid being zombified or turned into undead as high mana concentration in dunegon
-the journey back was shorten rudy fell into true despair and losing his arm makes his very disorientated
Roxy was always at his left side to support him
-he makes a lot of mistake while they were fighting thier way back but nobody scolding him and corrected him
It seems Rudeus uses a few key spells very consistently when he's in confrontations.
In other words, it's a perfect counter to the hydra!
Hope you enjoyed your vacation ❤
It was a very much needed break!
Aired on Father's day btw :)
bro weird question but whats ur hair routine?
I generally use shampoo and conditioner that don't have parabens. I avoid product and also hairspray, so ideally I just let my hair be natural.
Probably not very clear on my end, but I don't do much!
@@LykesonRose thank you, your hair is majestic.
Jus peak,peak action,peak team,paul peak father
Peak!PEak! PEAK! PEak! peaK!
Hey Lykeson, I just wanted to say that the thumbnail has the wrong episode number
Good catch!
As you saw, Roxy can cast strong fire magic but she´s much slower than Rudy at it. Incantationless magic is a real game changer in this world.
He would regret, he said
I realized just now that you are wearing the same white hoodie in every reaction, lol!
I like to keep things simple 😂
A double whammy 😅
They set us up ona father's day
The thumbnail says 21
It safe to watch the op now
I will be watching/reacting to the OP this week and give my thoughts on it!
Peak🎉
Is it straight from the teleportation she was caught in the crystal when she was in the labyrinth?"
That's actually an important question.
This demolished season 1 animation and heartbreak god damn
I'm convinced they put all the season 2 budget into this very episode!
@@LykesonRose @genegenesis3010
Don't trust Rudeus internal monologue so much, he's not a reliable narrator.
@@LykesonRosenever fully trust rudeus monologue lol, he lies to himself a lot. We will be shown later on just how much he loves and cares for zenith
MOST PEAK & tragic ep of the series
wrong thumbnail number
😭
Paul was dumb as a brick, but I gotta say, his selfless sacrifice for his son just says multitudes of emotions! Poor Rudy, he may not look like it but he’s really in despair for loosing his father.😢
Paul charged head first into everything, while Rudeus waits and thinks. The two complimented each other well in battle and I wish we got to see more of that dynamic...
