What a time...I was 10 in 75. the world still had this innocence then, a certain simplicity, that is sorely lacking today. That was the era of the tv shows, sitcoms, game shows, movies, the cherished Saturday Hockey Night in Canada when the family entertainment for the night was the game, being together, nice and cosy on a freezing cold, blizzard December Saturday night. And after the game, we usually watched 1 really good comedy show i.e., Wayne & Shuster, Carol Burnett, Red Skelton, or maybe Colombo. We were in heaven. What compares to that now? Computers, iPhones, digital games? Kids are out of shape because all they do is play computer/TV games and hardly get and decent exercise like we use to as kids in the 70s. For us it was bike riding, rage, jailbreak, street ball hockey, etc. All the kids played together, all the parent's knew each other, on those really humid summer nights the neighbours would talk to each other from their verandas, while the kids played simple and fun night game i.e., pick-up-rocks. everyone slept well, woke up fresh, there was a feeling of hope for tomorrow. everything was possible. In my Junction neighbourhood the feeling was one of a small village. There weren't too many cars yet. Neighbourhoods had beautiful flowers on the front lawns, you could always hear sprinklers here and there. And suddenly you would smell the aromas of food cooking on BBQ's, the smell freshly cut watermelon, as well as the smell of freshly cut grass - many still used the gold push-blade mowers. When the blades were sharp it did a great cutting job. all of a sudden the sound of girls jumping skipping rope and singing their improvised skipping rope improvised songs. Around the corner someone would be washing their car, soap suds everywhere. And then out of the blue a torrential summer downpour which went on for 1 hour, and it would suddenly stop and clear up, and the sun would shine again. Simply beautiful. It was the 70s theatre of life and it was free! It was a time when a glass of cold tap water was the best tasting liquid you could ask for - it was fresh and clean. Sometimes kids would take a drink from a nearby hose watering a lawn very close by. The trees looked better, healthier, the chirping of the birds sounds more vibrant, authentic, the pace was slower, the air smelled cleaner, the season's changed precisely like clock work, there were still lots of Monarch butterflies everywhere, there were garter snakes in most backyards, sunflower plants just sprung up on their own. There was a perfect harmony and order in everything then, the symphony of life was still very palpable. Everyone still loved Christmas and really got into the spirit, children and adults alike. Visiting family was still done and was a lot of fun, Kids grew mostly knowing their grandparent's. Students still respected their teachers, parent's, elders, authority. Sex wasn't shoved down children's throats, it was implied in subtle, but not in overt disrespectful ways. Food tasted better, etc., etc. I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture. For me, this was the 70s. We are far, far away from that now. What a shame, really. And it will never come back ever again. If you grew up in the 70s you were one of the last lucky ones. At least you can savour those beautiful memories.

Yours is the best comment I've ever read on YT, I can relate to everything you said. In fact, I feel like I just relived my childhood. I too was 10 years old in '75. I was born and raised in Toronto, lived on Mutual St. (across the street from the Terrace). My dad used to take me and my brothers to watch the Leafs play at the Gardens at least once per season, it was only a 15 minute walk from home. The good 'ol days indeed.

Ballard let a potential Leafs 1970's Dynasty Team like the Canadiens 76-79 and Islanders 80-83 get away along with missed top Player Draft choices available. Those 70s Leafs teams would have gone a lot further if they didn't have such a cheapskate asshole like Ballard. Lets see. How many Leafs players did cheapskate Ballard let get away in the 1970s that ended up either in the Stanley Final with Flyers 74-75, Sabres 75, WHA Teams or with Other Teams? Parent, Spencer, Horton, Keon, Ullman, Flett who was originally Leafs property before the Kings got him they got back in 1974 and then let him get away again in 1975 to the Flames, Stoughton, Thompson, George Ferguson, Brian Glennie, Lanny MacDonald and these are just a few on the list from 1971 to 1979.

Foster and Bill Hewitt calling them made the Leafs games have more energy. The NHL game announcers today just don't have that distinctive unique one of a kind energy voices like Foster Hewitt, Bill Hewitt, Danny Gallivan, Dan Kelly, Bob Cole, Rick Jeanneret and Don Wittman.

Awesome! I was wondering if you happen to have more CBLT Toronto Stuff from the 1960s & 1970s with commercials? Also, do you have the Leafs on TSN intro from 1998-99 & 1999-2000?

1:10 The type of goaltending that says "hop on my back boys! You only need to score one tonight." No wonder the Leafs won every single Stanley Cup from !971 until 1986..... all responses are blocked.

..was thinking the same thing (wink wink) but from 0:39-0:45..looks like Favell was thinking: what the hell am I doing here..I wish I was still with the Flyers..

Don't try too hard in the warm up, Dougie! You might pull a muscle if you got into a proper stance and blocked a few shots!! LOLOL!!!!! Still one of my favourite pro athletes of all time. A hot dog, who knew that the NHL after expansion was no longer a religion (which it had been) but becoming pure entertainment. And that, he did well.
