Wow paul Morris at the gardens, I was born in 1983 and had the chance to hear paul in the early 90s twice at maple leaf gardens,he was a major voice for the Toronto maple leafs, his voice brings back childhood memories, miss you paul.

Thank you Chris!! This brings back fabulous memories for me. Even though I was a Canadiens fan growing up in the 60s & 70s, I probably watched more Leaf games than any other team, growing up in Southwestern Ontario. But I always loved Paul's vocal delivery. Boy, oh boy...does this take me back. Thanks again Chris!!

Paul made the Gardens experience for me. I'd love to hear some of his "Toronto penalty" calls as well...

What struck me was that the announcer only said the players' last names. That changed eventually.

Paul was iconic in his simplicity.
    "Time...3:20......."
Paul and Harvey Wittenberg (Chicago Stadium) are the best PA announcers to me , regardless of sport.

During the 1st summit series with the Russians, that the CBC thought the game in Toronto being a National Broadcast needed a bilingual PA Announcer so they brought in Claude Mouton, famously the voice of the Canadiens at the Forum. To a die hard Leaf fan hearing any other voice but that of Paul Morris echoing through MLG was wrong, just plain wrong. The fact that it was Claude M, the voice of the Hab's was BLASPHEMY, HERESY, DOGS AND CATS SLEEPING TOGETHER, IT WAS WRONG WRONG JUST SO WRONG.Anyway the Gardens faithful booed Claude the first time he made an official announcement and it became a minor National Scandal. The one and only reason Claude was booed was that he wasn't Paul Morris. Nothing to do with French-English animosity, People got that so wrong. Paul's voice was part of the structure, it was Paul M you heard for every goal every penalty, always always Paul. When I pass into the great beyond I will hear the sweet music of Bill Hewitt, the best Leaf Broadcaster there ever was saying "He Shoots He SCORES, Followed by Our Paul calling "Toronto goal scored by number 14 Dave Keon assist number 27 Frank Mahovlich and number 4 Red Kelly...time 14:35".
