Huh, this is really unique for sure, and I can't really mention anything similar to it, but it'd be really cool to see your cover of some more progressive music like Animals As Leaders, Scale The Summit, Tetrafusion or Toska. I really loved your Karnivool covers as well.
really enjoying everything about your videos so far, new viewer but new subscriber as well. I also appreciate how in depth you go into some of your comments explaining the intricacies of the song, mad respect. look forward to hearing more.
Thank you so incredibly much. Very much appreciated! I'm always up for explaining anything; and I love the interaction with the wonderful community. Glad you appreciate it! :)
thats one thick polyrythm groove, damn well played! and a huge thank you for showing me this guy, never heard anything from him or something similiar, but i love it!
I thought this was really cool man, although I'll be honest, I've never heard the actual song (looking it up right after this) but it's definitely something different and I always enjoy different.
It's a cool tune for sure! Tigran and Arthur (drums) has gotten quite an increase of attention over the past year I'd say. Not sure how I stumbled across this sometime mid last year, but towards the end of the year / beginning of this year, I heard more and more conversations popping up involving them, hehe!
Oh wow, this sounds really complicated. To be honest, it sounds like something Matt Garstka would do with Animals As Leaders. I need to read your description to find out the name of the style. Anyways, this was awesome man! One of your best ones to date! I wish I could meet you if I ever go to California. Would be fun to hang out!
It's for sure using the same concepts as for instance Animals As Leaders or Meshuggah. Basically, you stay in 4/4 but you imply another meter on top of it through groupings/repetition of specific amount of notes. In this case, the repetition is 5-5-5-5-3-3-3-3-3 as sixteenth notes. If you get pulled into it, it seems like something completely different from 4/4. Would be awesome to meet, for sure! :) And thanks for the kind words!
You are most welcome friend! You are a fine player and your channel is enjoyable! Thanks for sharing your passion of music and drumming! Little Drummer Channel ;)
Here you go buddy: www.dropbox.com/s/c7lhumrvgvblzjh/maxadrums%20-%20TIGRAN%20HAMASYAN%20-%20Entertain%20Me.pdf?dl=0 Unfortunately Dropbox screwed up all of the original links haha.. I'll have to update them later, but am currently in the middle of moving-stress.
Nice playing! I'm going at it myself with the help of your transcription. But I feel like in bar 15, the dot from the dotted 8th rest should go to the following 8th note instead. Also (just a matter of opinion I guess), for these kinds of irregular grooves, I think it would make things a lot easier to notate the whole bass drum pattern in 16th notes and rests. It may not be 'the established way' of notation but it's easier to read and it becomes clear a lot quicker, that it's actually just a repeating 4x5 and 5x3 16th pattern. What do you think?
You're absolutely right about the dot being on the wrong eighth note - good eye, and thank you! Regarding writing all rests out as 16th notes, I can see the benefits you're speaking of, however it makes it a lot more cluttered and harder to focus on. It requires more focus and attention, which means that the performance might suffer instead. An alternative to that would've been to write out the groupings of 5 and 3 to clearly show where the groups are and how they repeat. It's all personal preference though! But I like it clean - I can focus better and read faster that way.
Any chance you could do one for PU? It's REALLY hard to find on the internet. I've spend a lot of time looking. I'm 90% done with PU but some of my playing is not accurate. Need a transcription. :-) thx
I would try to watch a few videos explaining diddles and double strokes for sure! Then it just comes down to practice. R-R-L-L and R-L-L R -L-L etc! Always controlling it, bringing it up to speed.
