Completely agree with you regarding picking up stitches! I used to dread it. I have done it so much last few projects that i dont even flinch now and it's beginning to actually look seamless! Yay! Like with all techniques, I think we just have to *do the thing* to get better! Your Tonight top looks perfect!
It's so intimidating - I have always been just a tiny bit worried about it for years. But what a relief to finally have mastered it! Thank you for watching :)
I finished my first Tonight Top last week and now your video is tempting me to cast on another! Agree that it's a fantastic pattern, and yours looks so chic on you.
First time watching. I’ve made 2 tonight tops for my daughter and they are so good that she can wear then under a suit for her professional job. I used Filcolana Anina and Along Alec Anna merino so they are soft, soft, soft. Love watching podcasts with people my daughters age, get lots of pattern ideas. Thanks, have subscribed
How wonderful that you made her two gorgeous Tonight Tops - they are so versatile and one of the few knits I think you could genuinely wear anywhere. I've been so curious about the Along Avec Anna yarns - glad to hear you had a good experience with them. Thanks for watching and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I just came back from my holiday :)
@@OrsaMakes Hope you had a lovely holiday. I’m occcasionally a sample knitter for AAA so maybe a little biased but I find it a joy to knit with. It’s raining again here in Scotland but at least its cool…. A little sunshine might have been nice.
I knitted a tonight top this summer and I absolutely love it. I just cast on one in black and now looking at yours I think I need one in Grey as well😅 Your Tonight top and your Lulu slipover is both stunning😍 Thank you for another inspiring podcast 🥰
Im a new knitter, started few months ago and I invested in chiaogoo’s interchangeable needle sets. I’ve started picking up stitches by switching the needle for a Tunisian crochet hook onto my cable and it has been seriously life changing as to how much easier and tighter by picked up stitches are..
I’m a new knitter too like you and find this too fascinating. Did you find a tutorial or is it something you came up with on your own? I’m assuming you pick them up with the Tunisian hook then knit them off that??
Oh this sounds so handy - I will have to look into it! I'm a terrible crocheter though but maybe if I think about it like knitting I'll be able to do it.
@@stephanienorwicz1366 I started as a crocheter and had chiaogoo Tunisian crochet set too. I figured out that the cable connectors are the same for both the knit and crochet sets! Anyways I pick up the stitches and when I’m done, I switch back to a knitting needle by pushing all the stitches onto the cable itself and then continue to knit as normal. I’ve also tried picking up with a Tunisian crochet hook that’s 0.5mm smaller than my working knitting needle size just so the stitches are a little tighter where it’s picked up! Sorry for the late response!!
Hello from another fellow knitter and UA-cam Podcaster 😊 so glad I found your podcast. Love your style and the pieces you have knitted. Chocolate browns are one of my favorite colors. I actually own this Hobbii Wool color and it’s incredible. I love mock necks and both of your pieces are gorgeous. I want to make that slipover because I totally agree on what you said about the fit and the ease to wear. I love the top from Lily Kate but I tend to lose steam whenever I pick a project on 3mm needles 😩 I love Milan and yes everyone dresses so chic and I love the fashion energy there. Also 😂I totally agree with living for English summers. They are truly wonderful. I love being in London in summers. I’m not big on hot summers either. Thanks for sharing! Happy Knitting and enjoy your holiday in England. Oh also I subscribed 😊
Hi! So nice to meet you :) Chocolate brown is such a rich and cosy colour that always makes me happy. I hope you love whatever you make with your yarn. I know what you mean about 3mm needles but I've been really obsessed with the finish they give me recently. I'm flying out on Monday and truly can not wait! Give me cloud over 35 degree heat any day. Happy knitting and have a great summer!
Loved your Tonight Top. Keep us posted how the yarn behaves. Can you suggest any yarn shops in Milan? I’m going there for a few days in early September.
The yarn is great so far 👍 but I will do an update after I’ve washed and worn it a few times. My favourite yarn shop in Milan is called Lanar (it’s near Porta Venezia and very central if you’re visiting). It’s beautiful and very modern. I hope you have a great trip!
Your knits are amazing. I really like the lulu top you have knitted what I am confused about is you said you knitted it in friends wool and kid silk but when I have looked it is an Aran weight and the pattern asks for DK. I am old knitter but I get very confused when altering these lovely yarns.
Thank you so much for watching! 🧶 I made the normal version but went with a thicker yarn to get a tighter gauge. I found. That it worked well and I didn’t need to change needle size but I prefer a warmer fabric.
Hello! such a fan of your work, it is so beautiful, been a longtime fan! I have the same bust measurement as you, and I would love for my 'Tonight Top' to have a similar fit as well. How long did you make your collar? and if its possible, how much more did you increase so that it was a mix of size 2 & 3? Thank you! xx
Thank you for your lovely message! My collar on the Tonight Top is 5cm. I worked out the increases until it reached 44 cm across (88 cm in total) by casting on in size 2 and then worked the increases for the underarm shaping and front according to size 3. I also added more stitches with backward loop at the armpit when joining together. I hope that helps! It really is a lovely pattern.
Ahhh this are both so stunning! I just checked out the lulu top on petite knit and it looks like yours is shorter than the one on their pics (it looks like after the increases at the bottom front they knitted straight down for a bit before the ribbing) was that in the instructions or did you decide to cut it short?
Thanks for watching! My version is the normal (not chunky) Lulu. Even though I used thicker yarn I found that I still pretty much met gauge but I wanted to warmer, more wintery version than I would have got with the original yarn size. Hope that helps!
hi! i love your tonight top! its stunning. what needle size did you use to knit it? im on the hunt for a pattern like this and have the yarn picked out. I see you've used yarn at a higher weight than whats recommended, one thats actually similar to the yarn i want to use (drops brushed alpaca silk). thank you in advance
Hi! Thank you so much - it is one of my favourite knits from this year. So wearable and comfy. I used the recommended needle size but just cast-on stitches in between two sizes because I have a 90cm bust. If you need more help, please feel free to message me on Instagram :)
Hi Issy , love your tops, I really like slip overs, keep you warm but not overheated! I have made a few now. We had a blast of warmth but has become just warm now so should suit you well, I am in the south/west, it has been a funny ole summer 😅 Would love to. See any photo’s of you at the wedding, I hope the weather is kind to you. Excuse me I hope you don’t find me rude, have you become engaged, I noticed a ring☺️ look forward to seeing you again soon, Suze. 😊
Hi! I'm so excited about experiencing some English weather. I've noticed a mini heatwave is predicted for when we arrive but I hope it will pass. I could go for some cloud and rain at this point - it's 35 here today and I'm roasting. I will try to get some footage of my dress for the wedding. It's nice to have an excuse to get dressed up. Hahaha about the ring. It's not rude at all! It's a gift from my boyfriend's mother but not an engagement ring. I forgot I put it on that finger - but maybe one day soon! Lovely to hear from you :) I hope you're enjoying the summer.
