Hiking at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge

- In late June I woke up in the middle of the night to drive to the Saint Marks NWR. This was to ensure I got there right at sunrise. I always feel that gives me good odds at seeing wildlife. On this trip I saw many deer and alligators. There was also pig, crab, red winged black birds, hawk, herons, egrets, soft shell turtles, dragonflies, butterflies, and of course mosquitoes.
After searching the woods and touring the levees, I stopped at the lighthouse to get a look at the Gulf of Mexico.
I don't think I saw any other hikers even though the Florida National Scenic Trail goes through the refuge. Mostly there were fisherman along the roads and photographers/tourists by the lighthouse.
I made up my own 10.2 mile loop route, starting at the visitors center, working my way around the East river Pool, then circled Stoney Bayou Pool Number 1 and Number 2.
Filmed entirely on my Panasonic Lumix FZ300 Superzoom Bridge Camera and edited in Resolve.
Super nice great job
Hey, thanks!
Great captures!
Thank you. If I was a little faster I could have shown that last deer swimming to the levee it ran away on.
Hearing the mosquitos made me itch.
It was pretty rough near the trailhead.
That baby deer! ❤️
Yes indeed. The star of the show!
Nice video, Greetings from Italy
Thank you 🦌
I found out that on federal land you need to get written permission to video
Last I heard us little UA-camrs were okay, but maybe that was only in National Parks. Guess we'll see if they come a knocking.
