I've been to both his house, and the library in Venice. That's what makes Indiana Jones such a good movie series. It's authentic work, and they rarely ever used green screen. Such a great series, man.

I was this summer at Venice and saw the library! Cool fact is, you can actually go just like characters in the film, through the bridge to reach the square where library is placed! This bridge is really a path to the library

@michakozera8279 Yeah, sadly last summer, when I went, we couldn't go in because it was under construction for a temporary Da Vinci museum. So...sadly, I couldn't see if any Roman numerals were in there.

@@UVClipzI will tell you - they are no! Interior was shot in studio in London. Only bridge and library (church actually) are worth paying attention. Da Vinci exhibition also sounds great but we didn't have time

@michakozera8279 yeah, I suspected my expectations for what I would've wanted to see in the museum would not exceed me, and I would've been very disappointed to fund there are zero numerals on the ground, in the "church".

Also, the fact that Sean Connery, a former Bond, played Indy's dad is genius casting.

*before or after Raiders of the Lost Ark was out* Indiana Jones is like James Bond.
*Before Temple of Doom* Then let us put him in a James Bond Outfit!

The Penitent Man scene: The blades are at 2 angles for one cuts off the head of a man that does not kneel, yet the second cuts off the head of a man that prays with their head on the ground... like Muslims. The Templar Knights that hid the grail had crusaded against the Muslims, so the trap would have been designed to stop them even if the prayed and shown penance.

I think when Indy looks at the X in the library, I think there's a reason he's looking at it for so long before going up the stairs, the X itself is shiny, where the rest of the floor is matte, so I think you ONLY could see it from at the top of the stairs at that time. I could be wrong, but that's how it looked to me

Spielberg is definitely a director worthy of dedicating an entire summer to, I hope to see more great dives on as many of his films as possible! And i for one do hope Crystal Skull is included, the hate on that movie i think is mostly not deserved.

    • @paulnicholson5997

People are about to find out that Crystal Skull wasn't a bad Indy movie after all. I agree, the amount of hate is unwarranted. The thing I noticed watching Crystal Skull recently was Indy's character is treated with respect, something I think will be sorely lacking in the new film.

The "no ticket" moment on the plane is sold by the woman in the stole. She acts like she doesn't understand what Indy says for a second, but searches her language banks and comes up with what he means. They all should be rich on that zeppelin. One thing I latched onto with a recent rewatch is that in the beginning of the film when the Coronado blows up, we see Panama Hat's hat floating in the water. His lifelong obsession with obtaining the cross led to his ultimate demise. Learning to "let it go" is an important lesson Indy learns by the end of the film, but Panama Hat never did.

when it comes to the grail's power, I believe that it does have a lasting effect on those who drink from it, like not immortality since the knight straight up says you have to remain there and keep drinking from it to gain immortality, but instead gives the drinker lasting increased durability. this makes perfect sense if you look at all the things indy goes through in crystal skull and dial of destiny that would've easy crippled or killed a younger man, let alone someone of his age. so events like the always joked about surviving a nuke in a fridge scene, indy was able to survive due to the lasting effects of the grail.

I submit that the Grail Knight illuminated the manuscript and Henry was one of the brothers in a past life, which is why they recognize each other. Or, perhaps, Indy was the brother in a past life, and illuminated the manuscript, and later Henry. Either way, Henry's obsession is explained.

At 16:32 you can also see the piano player just above Indy is wearing the same outfit Indy wore in the beginning of Temple of Doom.

17:14 My favorite scene as a kid was when the plane is going through the tunnel.

4:06 Dr. Fantasy is also mentioned in Poltergeist, where the hotel sign at the end of the film welcomes Dr. Fantasy for some weekend magic shows.

    Great show, old bean!!!
I was a scout, but got kicked out after two weeks for bringing beer on a scout trip to some cave. Can't remember where. However, one of my sons and two of my nephews are Eagle Scouts.

I interpreted the conversation with Donovan when he says "we're only one step away"....Jones: "that's usually when the ground falls out...." as being when the grail is about to be removed from the temple, and the ground literally starts falling out and cracking as the grail passes The Great Seal.

I absolutely adore The Last Crusade. I often go back and forth between this and Raiders for my favorite Indy movie. It’s an incredible film.
