Make sure you’re getting your iodine folks! I had a guy a worked with switch to pink salt thinking it was better for his family. His daughter began to have all kinds of weird problems like getting light headed and fainting. Doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong until a blood test revealed low iodine counts. He went back to regular salt for her major meals and she was fine.

@Kashgari Duh. It literally says iodized on it lol.
Respect for these men.
"Where does salt come from"
Call of duty players : *Allow us to introduce ourselves*
The salt is pink because it has iron oxide (basically rust) in it. Otherwise, it's just rock salt. There are no special nutrients in it and it doesn't have iodine, so make sure you take a supplement or just eat plenty of dark, leafy greens.
@Apsoy Pike iron oxide or free iron is not bioavailable. It's actually toxic to liver.
@Apsoy Pike Iron Oxide is not like elemental Iron. It's essentially rust. I think some weak acids, like citric acid, can break it down to become more bioavailable, but honestly, Pink Salt isn't really worth it. None of the claimed health benefits have been substantiated, it lacks iodine, and it's quite expensive. I feel like there is little gain, unless you just prefer the taste and texture, or think it looks nice.
No one needs supplements, just eat a few chicken livers per month. JFC.
@@hakarmalm7756 You wouldn't need them if you had an almost perfect and varied diet and had no problems with your bodily functions what so ever. Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world, so supplements come in handy. There is nothing wrong with supplements, as long as you don't abuse them, and take what you need. They give you nutrients that you may have difficulty acquiring from your food alone.
It's not iron oxide it's magnesium salt mixed with table salt, that gives it the pink colour.
Why are people so dumb. Before commenting, you could have researched it.
We take stuff like this for granted. Hard work just for some table salt is actually so dope.
