Can we all give a thumbs up for the whole Cultaholic team, for putting out all this stellar entertainment during the pandemic and helping to keep us entertained and sane-ish.
Music, vibes and the moderators voice are all on point. Keep this amazing work up lads, nothing better then coming back from hospital work light up a joint get a beer and watch this. Thanks lads.
3:04 some folks try to pass it off as New York because Metlife stadium was Giants stadium for decades before they remodeled (didn't find Hoffa) and changed the name, the izod center shared a parking lot with the stadium. Also mr beast was up.there at the American Dream mall flipping burgers once. That's the stinkiest part of NJ.
This is by far my favourite series you guys do! It’s so well done and I find so fascinating being a fan who grew up during the Ruthless Aggression era. Thanks for everything guys, keep up the good work!
One can't, but feel bad for both WCW, for having ended so abruptly, as well as Vincent Mcmohan, with all his wrestlers stabbing him in the back by joining WCW so surreptitiously.
Honestly, he didn't really want Hogan around, and he was only gonna use Savage as a commentator. Savage had some fuel in the tank and Hogan was still a big draw, despite the fact that you and I can wrestle a better match than 99% of his.
You have to credit Vince he has a ruthless streak in him when it comes to business and takes no prisoners. He has eliminated all competition before him. Sadly it’s my opinion the lack of competition which led to the quality of the WWF/E product got poorer with every following year.
3:04 on the 4th April 1991 WCW’s card has Owen Hart Vs El Cubano on it, I know Owen Hart wrestled in WCW for a short time after his Blue Blazer run in the WWF but never seen a card he was on. But more shocking than that is who they’ve got for the special guest referee for the WCW World Title match in a steel cage between Ric Flair and Sting. The special guest referee was El Gigante (Giant Gonzales in WWE) who would go to WWE in 93 and was useless in the ring and really didn’t understand how wrestling worked in 93! So I can imagine this Argentinian basketball player 2 years earlier when he knew even less about wrestling then, understanding the English language less then as he didn’t do much talking in WWE (I don’t know how good his English was in 91 or 93). Only WCW could have a special guest referee in their main event for their world title between their top 2 stars in a steel cage match which has different rules to a normal match and their referee has limited knowledge of wrestling and doesn’t speak the language well as he’s not been in the country that long. I bet that match went well as they couldn’t of picked a worse referee unless that referee was blind, deaf and a mute, well done WCW 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 (To put it bluntly, what the fuck was WCW thinking making El Gigante referee)
I only wish Flair could have had ONE title win for the Big Gold Belt over Hogan in WCW. They ran a story during a house show I attended in Pittsburgh where Flair presumably won the WWF Title (He was carrying the NWA belt around at the time also) and I'm telling you the Civic Arena went bonkers! But then, WWF officials came out from the back making Flair reveal he used brass knuckles tucked into his trunks and the referee reversed the decision. Instant replay without an actual replay in wrestling? After talking to other friends in other states, this was the running house show gag that summer. But, at least I got to hear Flair's name announced over Hogan as the champ. Hogan played his part, remained on the mat, looking up at the lights as Ric raised the belt above his head. I had never seen a title change LIVE at that point, after years of TV Tapings in PA and WV, and was almost in tears as an 18 year old dude that this was the payoff. So close, but yet so far.
You need to do one on the Ring Boy Controversy now. Pat Patterson may have been deeply respected by his peers, but I’m pretty sure he wasn’t innocent when it came to that whole fiasco.
There were other arenas that WCW couldn't run due to exclusive deals with the then-WWF. WCW had to run Capital Combat at the DC Armory due to being unable to get into the then-Capial Centre in nearby Landover, Maryland, USA due to the WWF having an exclusivity deal there.
The meadowlands isn’t New York. However the Giants and Jets are both New York football teams and play there. NYC doesn’t exactly have a lot of places to build a stadium.
IMO Flair vs Hogan wasn’t really selling at that point. Not as a title match. WCW screwed up not staying with the younger guys and developing the talent. They should have been working with Paul E to develop their talent/talent swap instead of stealing from them. The higher ups never understood the product.
They had the nerve to try to the book Madison Square Garden & they weren’t even going to have Flair wrestle and headline it. So stupid. The 2 times I saw Hogan vs Flair at the garden were great
It does mean that the management group of the Garden should not have allowed the show to be booked in the first place without allowing WWF to exercise that right to first refusal though.
I find it strange for years during the 1980's at the time Fans biggest fantasy was Hogan vs Flair even thought both were in different companys.... WWE tried hogan vs Flair when Flair was in WWE in the early 90's and I hear attendance was not good plus the match up was ok but not great......... seems fans got their wish but it was not a sell out. By early 90's fans were a new generation not the 80's fans who wanted the match up when both were at the top of their game.
I feel like WCW came out on top here, because Diesel WWE title run is commonly mentioned as one of the worst in WWE history. So one for the good guys I guess, and I just want to quotes Scott Hall at the end.
Can we all give a thumbs up for the whole Cultaholic team, for putting out all this stellar entertainment during the pandemic and helping to keep us entertained and sane-ish.
This series is quickly becoming one of my favorite parts of Cultaholic.
I’m really enjoying how you’re not just looking at the over publicised parts of the Monday night wars/ attitude era.
Same it’s great
Trojansfan The entire late 80’s through 90’s was a war between wrestling companies
Trojansfan it’s still a war even if it wasn’t called that,if you don’t like the non Monday Night War videos, then don’t watch them
Music, vibes and the moderators voice are all on point. Keep this amazing work up lads, nothing better then coming back from hospital work light up a joint get a beer and watch this. Thanks lads.
🙏🙏🙏
Stay safe mate , thank you for all you do x
Nothing to thank me about guys :3 I am glad to be able to do something ☺️
This is becoming my favorite series on Cultaholic,! Good work guys.

These are great Sam. I hope you keep these going for the foreseeable future. Great storytelling.
The production on these is great, keep up the good work guys.
Thank you for these lads. They're emotional, beautifully scored and so well researched. Brilliant job. Can't wait for the next batch of these!
God damn i absolutely love this series, the editing and content is just phenomenal.
Absolutely love these! Thanks for keeping us all entertained
And in 2019 MSG got pissed of at WWE turning their backs on them by going to the Barclays Centre so MSG booked NJPW and ROH to do the G1 Supercard
@@dragonitematero That was Chicago
These were my glory days as a wrestling fan. I watched both promotions and both have a special place in my childhood.
After watching this episode I only have one question. Who would like to see Steven Regal vs. Dean Malenko?
Jim Cornette
wrestling fans.
This guy
me
Me. I've always been a fan of the technical masters.
this is really high-quality content. please more of this, it's excellent.
Wooo another war stories great season 1 hopwfully there'a a season 2
Shane Douglas throwing the NWA belt needs to be an episode!
Another great episode!!!
Keep up the great work Sam!!!
Great job once again. This is just one of the things, you are currently doing, that is making the lockdown more manageable

Gotta say I really enjoyed this series
Nice getting this story. Never heard this topic covered before.
Very enjoyable. The content of the wrestling channels has been outstanding recently.
Best new series you boys have done a while....
E.Rutherford is in New Jersey but it's only a few miles outside of NYC and generally considered part of the Metropolitan area.
Please please MORE OF THESE!!!!
Vince always stayed one step ahead...
For some reason these videos are my ASMR. Damn you Sam and your soothing voice 😂
This video: 0:07
Me: ~Take my photo off the wall if it just! won't! sing! for youuuuu~
You know you’re dealing with the X factor.
I love War Stories

WAR Stories is a great series!
The first minute's background music can make anyone kick out of anything
Considering both the New York Football franchises play at the Meadowlands in NJ, its basically New York.

WWE not allowing competition in the Garden, why does that sound so familiar? Hhmmmmmmmm
I was at every Great American bash in the Baltimore arena .
I attended a couple myself always looked forward to them every June.
I keep wondering about the Philly Indy War y'all have teased in the intro because I have no idea what that is referring to D:
Excuse me, its Target Center, not Target Centre. Silly Cultaholic. Also goddamn this series needs to be daily. I love this.
@Sean Parker *Whereas Americans spell it incorrectly.
You need to do one on the Ring Boy Controversy now. Pat Patterson may have been deeply respected by his peers, but I’m pretty sure he wasn’t innocent when it came to that whole fiasco.

For future reference, it was called "The Orlando Arena". Not Orlando's Arena. Minor detail, but great video.
i feel like playing fallout watching this haha
This is that good shit that I like to let in
0:23 Dinastee? I think you mean Dynasty lol.
That's how it's pronounced👍
IMO Flair vs Hogan wasn’t really selling at that point. Not as a title match. WCW screwed up not staying with the younger guys and developing the talent. Sam's voice would be great as a video game character. ...
good video
the last picture is Jay lethal
I wish pieces like these could use actual video clips and it just didn’t have to be a big deal
They had the nerve to try to the book Madison Square Garden & they weren’t even going to have Flair wrestle and headline it. So stupid. The 2 times I saw Hogan vs Flair at the garden were great
Man the Meadowlands was a dump lol
Last one of the season?
First refusal doesn't mean you can cancel a show from another company.
It does mean that the management group of the Garden should not have allowed the show to be booked in the first place without allowing WWF to exercise that right to first refusal though.
Picking a fight with Vince is not a smart choice. The guy is an evil genius. Literally. He will bury friends and family to get over on an enemy.
why didn't WCW try The Nassau Coliseum
I find it strange for years during the 1980's at the time Fans biggest fantasy was Hogan vs Flair even thought both were in different companys.... WWE tried hogan vs Flair when Flair was in WWE in the early 90's and I hear attendance was not good plus the match up was ok but not great......... seems fans got their wish but it was not a sell out. Of course, WCW couldn't pack the garden. Especially in 93. That was the downward period in wrestling.
"Thee etta" ???
Suggestion: drop the backround music. Its very distracting.
You should do a piece on the wwe and Cincinnati Ohio, and why aew cant book a show there
Really? Wow. I'm gonna have to look into that.
YO SAM WHAT HAPPENED TO WAT STORIES THESE ARE AWESOME
INJECT PHILLY INDIE WARS INTO MY VEINS
I feel like WCW came out on top here, because Diesel WWE title run is commonly mentioned as one of the worst in WWE history. So one for the good guys I guess, and I just want to quotes Scott Hall at the end.
You mean WWF History
Why did you say denasty
“World’s most famous arena”.. lol nice joke
The real reason this didn’t happen for WCW was because not like Ring Of Honour and NJPW, because WCW didn’t have Matt Teven and this is a joke.
Y tf would anyone want 2 watch them put hogan over on flair hogan was not even in the league as the nature boy so who cares
stop the annoying sad music in the bg, just bad
