You always mention ‘balsamic’ in your Doc videos. It’s not balsamic, it’s balsam. Balsamic is vinegar. I don’t think putting that on your DMs would do them much good! 🙃
lol.. I know... its something I am working on it. the label on it confuses me.
@@Fodaysway You voice is Balmic though.. Soft and warm.
You don't have to be condescending Paul. The video is still great and helpful!
I love that you say balsamic ❤
I can’t wait to put balsamic vinegar on my docs 😂
😂.. it makes them zesty
This is such a helpful and informative video - thank you 😊
Thanks for watching 🙃
Thanks man, good video
Great timeless vid. thank you!
Thank you
Some people complain about crazy horse without knowledge of the leather. If you do not like a rugged look, skip the collection.
Yeah definitely.. they are one of my favorites
I bought some "Made in England," Doc's, and I absolutely despise them! They're super uncomfortable, the leather is as hard as wood and 7 years later, I'm STILL trying to break them in! Buy these at your own peril!
I'm sorry to hear you've had such a tough time with your Made in England Docs. It sounds really frustrating to deal with that level of discomfort for so long. Have you found any techniques that help at all with breaking them in? Maybe there's a way to make them more comfortable.
You gotta pull the inside of the leather. Get some Mink oil, use a Hair blow dryer to warm the leather, not hot, warm to the touch. Then run the oil on the inside of the leather and work them with you hands to soften the leather.
Can you use the wonder balsam on smooth leather?
Yes you can
I don't recommend putting any product on the exterior of the leather, especially if colored/dyed. Put it on the interior of the leather.
Horween leather is very comfortable out the box and in my opinion looks great.
okay. they do look great
My first docs ever will be here tomorrow, and they are the 1461s in olive Horween leather. NGL, I'm nervous about breaking them in. 😬
I bought some green DM's in 1990's and the pain....I should probably have bought the next size up, I tried everything... they tortured my feet. Ended up giving them two a charity shop. My loss was someone's gain! they rubbed my heels and across the toe so badly. I googled...the trad boot now costing over £200. They were about £80 back then.
Wow.. some really did gain from that. The inflation is crazy.
@@Fodaysway Isn't it scary - Inflation has rocketed even in last few years.
I’ve had both soft leather and vegan in the red 1460- with the vegan being platformed. The vegan red is my favourite color, but the material is weak. The color had chipped from the toe within a month- exposing a black material under the red, with further degradation of the leather around the creases in the toe fold area throughout the years causing the shoes to loose thier water proof/resistance. I’m other words, my feet get wet when I wear them in heavy rain or snow. From a sole perspective, my first pair lasted 6 years, and the second (vegan) are going strong after 6 years. So all in all, I wouldn’t ever buy vegan again. Which is a shame to have inferior quality for Vegans who don’t wear leather for ethical reasons, but shell out $250cad for the brand.
All my docs apart from my made in England 1914's and for life 1460's are the smooth leather and they've been very comfortable out the box brand new, the leather on the for life 1460's is a soft leather so was even more comfortable from day 1.
But the Quilon Leather my Made in England 1914's has been a real challenge to break into, it's taken a lot of patience and perseverance with them.
They took the skin off the back of my heels a quite a few times during the break in period, and still can now sometimes if I've worn them all day, and they'll be 10 years old next year, they are very comfortable thought and I do love them 🥰
My next pair of Doc's I want in the Pascal Virginia Leather ☺️
Okay.. my made in England felt good right out the box and then surprised me one day. The Chelsea boots were tight for me and felt funny sometimes but it’s good now.
@@Fodaysway I guess everyone has different experiences with Doc's and the different types of leather with regards to having to break them in or not break them in, don't they?
When you say your made in England Doc's surprised you one day, do you mean they suddenly hurt?
That's good that your Chelsea boots are good now 😉
@@bikerguychris33 yeah everyone has a different experience. Yes the made in England docs just started hurting me one day.
@@Fodaysway Aw right, that's strange that they should start hurting you after the break in period, although that being said, my Made in England 1914's can sometimes still take the skin off the back of my heels and leave me with a cut which is sore, if I wear them all day, and they'll be 10 years old next year, so are well past the break in period 😂
@@bikerguychris33 wow….10 years.. that’s a big achievement
Very helpful! Thank you. :)
Glad it was helpful!
@@Fodaysway Very much so! Quick question: do the men's DMs run as large as the women's? I'l like to buy the Tariks you recommend for my boyfriend, but am unsure about sizing.
Thank you!
The virginia leather is the easiest to break into, id say theres no breaking into at all. They’re so soft and comfortable right away :)
Yeah definitely
What's the difference between the Crazy horse leather vs the pascal?
Crazy horse leather has a distressed appearance so you can the scratches on you boots. The pascal leather is soft leather that makes it easy to break in your docs
Can you give any insights on their Quilon leather?
I have them.. they are in the middle… it doesn’t take too long to break into
@@Fodaysway Sweet! That's great to hear. Bit off topic, but what about their sole quality? I've been reading stuff that Made in England soles are poor and wear out faster compared to the soles with "The Original" in it.
I got the smooth ones and the leather seems to be coated in rubber or something.
Really! That’s strange
Breaking in Dr. Martens is nothing, compared to some other boots.Try breaking in a pair of Jim Green Numzaan. Use mink oil. It will soften the leather.
Okay, i will put them on my list to try.
I wanna buy SINCLAIR PATENT CROC EMBOSS PLATFORM BOOTS
and my perfect size is uk 6
should i buy uk6.5? or 6?
I ordered uk 6
Hope it wasn’t small😢
Oo fancy… it between a 5 or 6.. I’ll say 6 to be safe
Do you know the difference between the "1460 PASCAL BEX PISA" and "1460 PASCAL BEX"? I'm trying to figure out if the difference is the type of leather or something about the shape.
The difference is the type of leather. The Pascal Bex Pisa are very soft leather than the other one. The Pascal Bex is not the hardest to break in, but the Pisa is one of the softest leathers Dr Martens offer
@@Fodaysway Thanks for the info! :)
@@sb11116 you welcome
for my first pair I decided to go with the 1460 in soft leather and I've never regretted it, I never had to break them in as they were already soft, also I thought they looked a bit more feminine than the classic ones. I have used them everyday for years, now they look a bit rough but that's because I'm lazy and I've never taken care of them 😅
Okay.. you made a great decision on the soft leather as your first.. docs look good dirty
hey there, may I know whats the BGM you're using for the first soundtrack ?
it is called LoFi Hip Hop by ShymonMusic
Just a quick comment on leather vs vegan leather. Most leather is sourced from animals raised for food which I understand is why people don't like it but people have been making clothes this way for centuries. Vegan leather is primarily made from plastics like polyurethane. If you're vegan I understand your choice of the vegan leather but personally, I think the environmental impact needs to be assessed. While there are certainly environmental and moral issues with the meat industry, plastics like those used to make shoes will never biodegrade. Leather is a byproduct and vegan leather is a manufactured product.
@@btfrenchy thanks for the info
Break in. Not break into. Youre not burglerizing the shoe lol! 😂
Lol.. I know.. I’m working on my English
@@Fodaysway hahah! Made a funny pun anyway! We have full grain waxed lesther doc martins but cant find any video about them. They are so bad when you walk in the grass which is wet the whole shoe seems to suck up the water like a sponge and gets so insanely wet. I thought dr martins would be a little bit damp proof aat least. Reallt dissapointing. Any idea what to do to help it be less wet? Thank you! 😊
How easy is the crazy horse leather to break in?
Personally I didn’t have difficulties with them. They are not the hardest break in
I have a pair of 1460 crazy horse, first few wears in thick socks, maybe a small pair underneath, then they were like and old friend. I have an old pair of the crazy horse Chelsea boots, they are like gloves, love them, had them years!
Krazy Horse!
lol..
