Westerners watching often misunderstand these forms.
They claim this doesn't look like real fighting and mock these forms.
The true purpose of Chinese forms and Chinese influenced Okinawan katas is to cultivate tendon strength, structural integrity, lung strength and strong circulatory system.
These forms are performed slowly under full dynamic tension when pulling, to grind muscles against muscles, then bursting outward to cultivate fa jing .
The fingers and hands are tensed via dynamic tension during Ji Lik training to cultivate tendon strength for powerful grip.
In demos or in teaching only movement of form they'll be demonstrated quickly for brevity sake.
But in real training these are performed very slowly under full body dynamic tension.
Very painful burning, much tension, complete body workout til complete exhaustion when properly training Chinese forms & Okinawan sanchin kata, respectfully.
This is the true power of these arts.
Just punching a bag, doing Calistenics, lifting weights, grappling doesn't cultivate tendons and explosive fa jing in the same way.
Static tension holds and very slow moving dynamic tension training gets alot of blood to tendons that don't get much blood supply during Calistenics & weight lifting.
So western combat sports athletes too often suffer rotator cuff surgeries and torn/snapped tendons because they lack this knowledge and arrogantly mock this training due to ignorance.
Now you've just been given closed door knowledge, for free, in a UA-cam comment, but because people do not value that which is freely given it'll be like casting pearls to swine or giving a holy thing to a canine. The value shall go unnoticed and the closed door knowledge wasted upon the western minded readers.

Okay, I get what you mean that these forms are for strength and conditioning. But in such a venue where people are supposed to demonstrate their skills, shouldn't they be demonstrating the results of those conditioning? In such a demonstration, you wouldn't get your point across by showing normal drills the practitioners do everyday

for most of the audience, unless you also practice these forms yourself, you wouldn't be able to see, let alone feel the dynamic tensions these guys are supposedly experiencing in their bodies.

Good analysis bro, Okinawan and Southern Chinese styles are what is called "Dirty boxing" and was designed to fight and injure an opponent, not combat sport.

The closed door is not wasted on me. I practice these forms (Feeding Crane, Choy Li Fut, and Okinawan Karate) slowly and am amazed at the workout you get when practicing these at what I like to call "Tai Chi Speed". When done with dynamic tension and breathing, my heartrate is in the cardio zone even though to a person watching me doing the forms, it does not look like I am doing much.

I see little of Uechi/PGN in this if this is supposed to be what Shi Shi Wa taught back in late 1800s.

Pretty much all of the videos I've posted have extensive written descriptions dealing with the history and mythology of the system.
Unfortunately the changes made to facilitate easier watching via phones has left those descriptions kind of hidden where they used to be obviously displayed with the video.
I'd suggest looking for the video description if you want to learn more.
Also no, it has no relation to Zhou Zihe.

Amazing in terms of? Guarding, aiming, striking, blocking positions all wrong. I can say these guys don't know how to apply the kungfu that they train daily, only posing. Despite all the unique names, it's just crane fist + tiger fist + luohan fist that they don't know how to apply nor having the initiative to figure out how to apply avoiding full contact sparring entirely

@@jawarakf You are right on a few points nowadays, it is difficult to find real practitioner who masters their arts. martial arts have become a business, and true practitioners as well as true styles are scarce. characters like gu ru zhang or Lin Jinling etc are rare in our time. unfortunately there are a lot of people who say they are masters but do not even master a technique, he masters money that's all, it's a reality. now when i say it's amazing it's because i'm a respectful person.

@@boluo5786 easy to tell whether a kungfu school is McDojo or hardcore by looking at the students and master. If they are all flabby or skinny without muscle could conclude they didn't train anything. If the they are just fit, they do stretch and do punches/kicks. If numbers of students are muscular and tough, confirmed there's harsh conditioning and full contact fighting.

Totally totally agree. One century from now so much of of the authentic CMA will be lost forever and for two essential reasons: those outside of Chinese are too dumb to ever understand these treasures, whilst the Chinese by and large also fail to care about their own culture.

Boring. Nothing amazing or extraordinary, just typical southern Shaolin chuan fa. Except the extraordinarily bad music in the background. It seems all you have to do is come from China, demonstrate your martial art, and people will swoon at the sight. Such hysterics do nothing for the growth of the art. A little like being star struck when meeting some actor while in Hollywood. Meh.... ! All the same we appreciate your sharing.
