GMC Sierra / Denali Automatic High Beams Explained

- Well, just when you think you knew everything... someone shows you something new. In this video FoG explains the function of the GMC automatic high beams. Hopefully we did not keep you in the dark too long! We have seen these on the 2015 and the 2017-2018 GMC Sierra 1500 and 2500 Denalis.
OMG I have been trying to figure this out for ever. Mine sometimes did this on it’s own. Then never again. Now I’ve got it figured out. Thanks!!!

I have a 2016 GMC Yukon SLT and also found this feature by accident. Thanks for the video I was going crazy trying to figure out how to get it to work again.

Had my 2016 Yukon SLT for a year before I knew about this, and by accident I might add. Unexpectedly did this one night and I had to find out way, so as usual Google is your friend, and here I am. 👍

in case it didn’t work for you: if it is not dark out, cover your sensor in the middle of your dash and try again. great video! he just forgot to say that. :)
edit: you don’t have to cover it to do it, but you must cover it to insure that it worked.

Gmc sierra does the same not just the denali...not being and smart ass just leaving a comment...also in my sierra it does not reset unless you do it...I've been driving like this for 2 years and never had to reset it...love it
OMG!!! I knew that the truck came with it but sometimes it would be on and working and other times it would not and I had no idea how to turn that feature on and off. Thank you I can now sleep!!!!!

Jay R. Lol! Enjoy... I imagine your face looked just like mine when I found out. They will stay in this mode for about 24 hours then reset back to normal so you will have to repeat the process occasionally .

Thank you very much for your video. I have had my 2017 Denali for about 6 months and had no idea about this until a month ago when my wife commented on how her husband was great..he bought her a truck with everything, even auto high beam !! I have been confused because I couldn’t get it to work for me.
I thought it was a default I accidentally turned off before programming my setting #2 on the door. I’m going to see if her setting automatically turns it on.

My Denali had it on one time and so I knew it would auto adjust but then it stopped and I was fiddling with the light button trying my darnest to figure it out! These cars sit up so high everyone thinks I'm blinding them with low beams so I can't imagine what they're thinking (I am sure they don't call my nice names) when I don't adjust them in time and they're on high!
I have the 2020 Chevy PPV police model the pursuit four-wheel-drive I knew that the Chevys in the Dinali’s had this but I was not aware that the PPV came with it and it does it operate the same way as a Dinali thank you for showing that

This is only for trucks with lane departure warning. Which I the denali comes with. Can also be an option on SLT.
...I've got a rental Malibu...first time it happened, it freaked me out,,,took me a long while to sorta, kinda figger it out...I drive a lot on the long, winding & DARK roads of rural Martin, St Lucie & Okeechobee counties here in FL...

I have this on my 2024 2500 hd but the factory setting will not allow me to have on the fog lights while having the high beam intelligence on so mad.
I guess I did this accidentally once, and was amazed, but then I didn't know how to turn that feature back on.

For this feature to be enabled, do you have to flip the high beams forward manually, and then return to the high beams off position with a certain period of time? If the feature becomes enabled, how do you turn it off, without having to turn off the truck?
Haven’t seen a time frame on it. If it happens within 1 or 2 seconds, they are on... flipping them on manually for about 5 or 6 seconds then turning them off appears to shut the AUTO off.
If you use your fog lights switch that will disable it as well.

I knew about the auto high beams. Did you know about the auto down windows and they can auto unfold the mirrors?
found the windows recently... I need to do a video on that... accidentally rolled them down in the rain while I was trying to remote start it! thanks for the comment Donald!

Are you sure it’s on the GMC 2500 Denali too? I can only find research about it being on the 1500. I have a 2019 gmc 2500 Denali and I can’t get it to come on.
I bought 2021 and don't like the auto high beam. I go down the road and the street lights trigger high to low and it looks like im flicking my lights at someone.
actually... the only issue that i have had is the HiBeams and Lane assist... I think the sensor gets dirty or covered and the thing kinda goes nuts.
Had to jump into a diesel (fifth wheel application) and my salesman didn't even know where to put the d e f 😎👍👍 trying to tell me that the 2500 models don't have a sunroof. How do people lie there way through life. Bill Marsh GMC Traverse City Michigan. Never again

My 2018 Acadia Denali looks identical to this so gonna give it try. Don’t like this feature
