    The 2-Tier is what a home network is. In the 3 Tier topology it is more splitted in different sections. Actually simple😊

    I've completed my CCNA and this still taught me how to put my CCNA skills together into a network rather than practicing each skill individually

    4:24 you say there is a highspeed connection between the two buildings. Why (for the video I know) you are drawing some more devices? That we don't need if the distribution layer switches are connected to each other?

    I can't find the lab on your website, has it been removed or renamed? I'd like to check it out because I've actually got a question about STP between the Access and Distribution Layer switches: all lights are green between all ports, so STP doesn't seem to block anything. Has STP not been configured on them (eg 10:32)? Have a nice day.

    I didn't know layer 2 switches can support VLANs.

      Thank you @progressivehouseclusive3835!
      An unmanaged switch (one that can't be configured) is 1 large L2 broadcast domain (VLAN).
      On a managed switch, it allows for the configuration of multiple L2 broadcast domains (VLANs).

    I couldn't do this on my own. I have downloaded the pkt file. Still I couldn't figure it. I have configured OSPF but it doesn't show when I command show ip route. It shows the three connected VLANs only.

    How can a layer 2 core switch do interVLAN routing? Am I missing something here? Keith said 'Layer 2 core' right?

    • @KeithBarker
      @KeithBarker  Рік тому

      Thank you for the question LE.
      The distribution blocks are connected to each other, over the layer 2 core. Each of the blocks can route to each other.

    I have a question, if I'm using an IPsec VPN to connect two sites, then PAT would not be necessary right? If not, then how to configure PAT in a way such that it doesn't interupt the tunnel

    • @KeithBarker
      @KeithBarker  4 дні тому +1

      Thank you for the question @Shake_Well_Before_Use. Between two sites that already have unique IP subnets, NAT/PAT would NOT be required on the tunneled traffic. It could be done, but wouldn't be required in that situation.
      In short, yes, you are correct.

    Thanks a lot Keith. I only have one question I can't seem to understand.. How does the server associate the dhcp pool to the right pc requesting the address ? There is no trunking between the router (connected to the server) and the core switches (they transfer the 777 vlan only anyway), and the 3 layer distribution switch which has the same "ip helper" address associating to the server does not pass on the vlan by which the user is on and is requesting the address. In simple words : how come a user on vlan 20 doesn't get (by mistake) a layer 3 address associated with vlan 30 (for instance) ? The server itself (as far as I understand) has no way of knowing from which VLAN the request was made since its receiving info on an access port and its not a layer 2 intermediate device anyway.. Does the "Vlan Pool" name on the server has any significance in this matter?

    • @davidthompson9359
      @davidthompson9359 Рік тому

      Have you received an answer for your question yet? The way it get's the correct IP from the correct dhcp pool is by the VLAN assigned to the switch port the device is connected to.

    Can you explain to me how you're making the text appear/fill-in quickly as you speak? Are you pasting it in there or are you pausing the video for a split second? LOL..
    OR
    Are you speaking over a previously-recorded video that has been slightly sped-up?
    Thanks.

      Thank you for the question @doggystyledave.
      I don't do voice overs, but I use some editing tools to remove sections that have no audio. That would account for text and commands showing up faster.

      One of the best things about watching them is that you don't just READ a script at 1000 MPH- I don't understand how others think we can learn like that!
      I have had to slow others" videos down to 0.75 speed (using UA-cam Options) to watch them.
