I whole heartedly agree Keith. I got my CCNA and my ISP not only uses Cisco but also Alcatel and Fortigate for the data center. So now I'm learning Nokia and going for the NRS1 certification. Had to put off renewing my JNCIA as we don't do Juniper at my level.
This has been VERY informative. I'm new at all those things and I really appreciate your help. People like you, James Messer, David Bombal, Kevin Wallace... are doing a fantastic work !

I think it would be nice if you would do MPLS as a follow up from VPN. This session about VPN was very educational, I learned alot what kind of cryptography, certain VPN terms and how to apply basic VPN security etc.great video Keith
Thank you for the comments Anders! I have a few MPLS videos already on UA-cam, but will keep the idea about doing some more in the queue. Thanks again.
Hello Keith, Thank you for the video. Really helpful. Just want to check do you have a video on how to setup the site-site vpn and the configurations used at both the routers? thank you.
Thank you for the comments! Glad you are here. There are a few different options for setting up the VPNs, but here is a video I made several years ago, showing one of the options. ua-cam.com/video/VuGfyi6PYhI/v-deo.html Cheers!
Hi Keith, Thanks for the great videos that you post! I have a question regarding VPNs. How do we configure the VPN if we have dynamic public IPs on one side or both sides ?
Thank you for the question Kavin Patel! One option is to use a single static address as a hub (at one location) and then the others without static addresses "register" with the hub device. Dynamic tunnels can be set up using the addresses they are currently using. DMVPN is one example of a technology that can do this , with spokes (remote sites) that have dynamically assigned addresses. Hope that helps, and thanks for the question.
AWESOME explanation! You have a way of explaining concepts that make it easy for me to grasp. Wish you were on Udemy. I like knowing that when I take a class I can go back and review it at any time. Unfortunately CBT is a monthly thing so once I can't pay I lose the class. Any plans on doing something on Udemy or another platform similar to Udemy?
Thank you sujith kuruvilla for the suggestion. Currently I am focusing most of my UA-cam content at the Cisco CCNA level, but will keep your suggestion in the queue as a possibility in the future. Thanks again for the idea.

Thank you for the question Ahmed Aoukiash. I don't have any current PT labs/demos for VPN and IPsec. I will need to look into that and see how much Packet Tracer supports. In our CBT Nuggets CCNP level content, we do have labs for VPNs and IPsec there.
Hey Keith plz rl need your recommendations for study materials for CCNA .. is you tube works only or do I need any book material or anything more ?? Appreciated reply
Thank you Rose for the question. You will want some formal study program that covers each of the bullet points from the blueprint. You can get 7 days free at CBT, and I think you will love the full course offering there. 🏫 7 Days Free CBT Nuggets learn.gg/ogit-cbtn Happy studies!
@@KeithBarker thank you Keith . I can only spend very less time on study everyday due to family responsibilities. I prefer slow study but keep moving. So is only a book and hand on practice is enough to crack it or CBT Is more than that ??
I remember in a recent video you mentioned a web address link to the new Master CCNA 200-301 Playlist for your channel. Can you post me the link please and or add the link in the drop down so others can find it. Thanks.
So when we use vpn software from providers on our clients (e.g Nord) These work in transport mode, where the IP address of the VPN range isn't encrypted? Just site to site in Full Tunnel mode ? Sorry if i'm going a little off track here
With any VPN, a layer 3 IP address must be exposed so that packets may be correctly routed to the other end of the VPN tunnel. Inside the payload, the actual endpoint IP addresses would be encrypted and unknown, without the proper keys to decrypt them.
hi Mr.Barker your Fan from Algeria i would be happy if u answred this question i want to study CCNP but i have a weak 4gb Pc so eve-nf gns3 i can't work with them ??? what ara other solutions for me thank u for this informations u deserve all the best
Late to the party as always Security is my weak point (ACLs make me angry, and now I am struggling with DMVPN for my CCNP), so this is very profitable for me :) My vote is C (Labs) BTW Have you ever thought to do some hipster videos with old-school (let's not be mean and say "obsolete") technologies just for laughs? E.g. IPX/SPX networks (is even possible to connect this to the Internet nowadays via some tunnels/translation?), or IS-IS routing?
Thank you Rafał Szczechowski for the topic recommendation. I will keep that on my radar and see about working that in to a future video. Next Wed is is going to be Inter-VLAN routing on a multilayer switch, due to the popluar vote. Thanks again for the input, and for being here.
ashish sharma thanks for your input! Inter-VLAN routing with a multi-layer switch is the topic we will be addressing in the next stream. I appreciate your participation. See you in the next video.

So how come you can establish a secure connection over the public internet without a VPN, by simply using encryption? (FTPS, HTTPS)
Exactly.
@@KeithBarker so, you consider those two protocols VPN?
Since we use https, we don't have to worry about encrypting the traffic. Or am I missing something here ?
Wonderful video
