      I think there have rain tires but never ever snow tires!! So big snow tires have no one built i now!1😉

      @@r.blacky341 They used rain tyres as "snow tires", because they had a coarse tread and snow was only expected at 2 or 3 sections of the track (length of the Nordschleife is 20,832 km (12,94 mi), vertical high is 300 m (984 ft)).

      @@Nitramrec yes! my home is very next to the Nordschleife 50km away from my home Koblenz! I drive 40years in pass with my 50ccm moto bike over the Nordschleife! Than with my Opel-Manta,and next year with my BMW 323i i race the Nürburgring,but i dont now the track with so much curves,but it was very dangeres for me and my car,but i have no crash,but it was only Lucky for me,that i dont crash my BMW 323i!!(now my age are 58 years) sorry for my bad english best wish Reiner from Germany

    I once worked on Super Trucks and witnessed them running on a snowy Dijon circuit and thought that was impressive. But 1100hp round a snowy Nordschleife with your president in the almost passenger seat is just something else. Brilliant story!

    Willi Kauhsen is a legend.
    Seems like you're familiar with "Alte Schule" where you can listen to several multiple hour long interviews with him (in German). Some of his stories happened in Canada, some in Italy. But the best happened at the Nordschleife.

    President Gustav Heinemann was 74 years old at the time of that ride, and he was 46 years old in 1945 when the WW2 ended. Those two facts are making me not wonder at all, why he enjoy the ride so much, despite being unbelted in open top 917, on snowy Nordshleife.

    Lol, great story!!! I bet those old dodgy suite's we're messing there proverbial pants!!!!!!! But I must say I was a bit shocked when you said they hit 155 mph that's fast on a dry track and no belt.?.? Sounds like the president was a brave soul!!!

    Those were real man. Don’t know whom to admire more, the President or driver. 917 was OG car called The Widowmaker. Even on dry tarmac it was almost impossible to drive full throttle. Imagine it was n the snow and with that responsibility. Driver was the origin of the GigaChad. That President asking for another lap while freezing and giving the thumbs up after full spin was super cool. I was born in 1971. I remember cars and man from 70’s. Pant sleeves covering shoes and redicilous facial hair. But very macho and real man. Driving bikes with no helmet. Remember family member coming to visit us in the Ford Capri 2.8. He was dressed like a pimp and his girlfriend was like woman from the recording of the original Woodstock. Every time he would go with his car he would peal off and leave the tire marks. Both laughed. I was little boy in the aw.

    Can Am cars were amazing. The most powerful road racing cars to date. Racing tires of the day didn't have the grip of a modern all season tire. I went to every Can Am, and F1 race weekend at Mosport. Despite being in Canada, there was never any snow.

    That was a very cool story. I have never heard about this and I have loved racing since I was a little kid and I hate other sports that kids play football, baseball, soccer,etc. So I am pretty dedicated to motor sports, dangerous and amazing machines. Big brass balls to take that car with the president of the country around the green hell and at some point going 155mph, just nucken futs

    If I was German president or chancellor the track would be my office there's where I'd take all my calls and all the heads of state from around the world would have to get in a race car and talk through headphones about whatever their grievances are and make world peace through horsepower and speed 🏁🌏☮️✌️
