Very informative video. Im 70, (classed as elderly 😢) travel on my own and use a walker. I now feel confident that i know what im doing when i get there. Very happy that mention was made of a lift. 👍👍
Thanks so much for letting me know you found the video helpful. I'm glad you found the part about the lift useful. I try ti include this information when talking about places to visit in Rome, because not every site is easily accessible. I hope you have a wonderful visit!
We’ve just spent a wonderful week in Rome. We leave tomorrow. I watched several of your videos and found them so informative and they absolutely helped us plan and have a super week in Rome.. thanks again….
It’s absolutely phenomenal how you create such exceptional and informative videos, and post a video every week for people to enjoy. Thank you!
Thanks so much as always, Ralph, for your kind support. In fact, I spend a lot of time planning, researching, scripting, filming, and editing so I am glad you enjoy the results! Thank you for noticing!
Great video! Very informative. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
This is absolutely wonderful...! Thank you very much Elyssa. We are planning to visit Rome in July and I'm very happy that you cover such details in our videos. I believe our trip is going to be much more pleasant thanks to you. 😊
Thank you for your kind comments! I'm so glad you find my videos helpful. Have a great visit this summer!
The most informative video on YT
I got the attic tickets😆!!!Thank you Elyssa
So glad it was helpful! Congrats on getting the tickets you wanted!
I love you 💕 from India
Great info Elyssa, Rome is must see. Your guides are better than Rick Steves!
Ouch!! Shots fired on Rick Steves. #lmao
Awww, thanks so much as always! That's a huge compliment!
Love your videos!! Great info and insight… planning to visit Rome this summer and most likely the colosseum,,, when looking into purchasing the tickets I don’t see an option for the free tickets for under 18 🤷♀️
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoy my videos. I'm working on one dedicated to this topic (visiting the Colosseum with kids - and where to get their tickets). Meanwhile, if you are purchasing standard entry tickets for yourself, you don't purchase your kids' tickets at all. You just go in with them and then, as I showed in this video, on the INSIDE of the monument, you can collect your kids' tickets.
@@Romewise thank you for replying!! I’m planning on purchasing the full experience ticket and entry to the Arena, and not purchase the kids tickets, but was worried it will cause a problem upon entry for not having tickets for them
@@Doctor-lubna715 OK full experience is different. You MUST book your free kids' tickets. Click the "Free ticket" option and add as many tickets as you have kids under 18. For the Full Experience tickets, you have to enter all names, including the kids' names.
I wish I’d seen this two weeks ago! Btw, it was a lot more crowded than this at 1300.
Thanks for watching! Yes, the Colosseum is crowded - it's peak season right now. But it was not too bad when I went, first thing in the morning, as you can see. I hope you had a good time!
@@Romewise We did, once we found the entrance, and got away from all of those people who think that there's a selfie opportunity every 15 feet.
@@wkasimer Oh yes I know exactly what you mean!! :D
Thank you for this video! Where do people can pick up tickets for their kids only for Arena? Do they need to go to both entries? Thx
Good question!
My guess is that you will need to go to one of the external ticket booths to collect your kids' free tickets for the Arena 24h visit, since that ticket does not allow you entry to the main areas of the Colosseum.
I'd suggest going to someone managing the queue and letting them know you need your kids' tickets. They will probably allow you to jump in and collect them rather than having to wait in the long line.
Can you visit the Arena floor with the same ticket that you had in the video?
The ticket I had was a standard entry ticket. It did not include the arena floor. I didn't show the whole visit to the monument, as the topic was just getting inside and then exiting. But a standard visit allows you to see the 1st and 2nd levels of the Colosseum and you can also see down to the underground and arena floor.
To visit the arena, you need either a FULL Experience ticket or the new Arena 24h ticket:

Are they still doing night tours?? I can’t find it listed on the actual website
The Parco Colosseo introduced a new ticketing system as of May 1, 2024. They said then, and continue to say, that they will be bringing back night tours, but they do not yet have a date for this. So we can just hope and wait!
I bought 3 tickets for Colosseum this morning and just found that the time showed June 18 instead of July18. I will arrive Rome until July16. Can I change the time to July 18 or cancel the tickets?
I'm pretty sure they are non-changeable and non-refundable. You can try to write them on their website and ask if they can help.
@@Romewise Thank you. Will try.
Did you say free tickets for under 18 years old? Is that citizens only, or all visitors? I bought tickets for my minor children for later this month and wondering if my tickets could be refunded. Do you have more information on any of this?
I'm loving your videos as I prepare for my trip. I wish I saw this one before my purchase ;)
For all state-run sites across Italy (Colosseum, Roman Forum, Castel Sant'Angelo, Pantheon, Pompeii, etc), EVERYONE under 18 gets in free.
I don't think you can get a refund for tickets you already purchased. You might try to resell them if you know anyone coming those dates. But since tickets are nominative, and you can only change the name on the ticket once no more than 7 days prior to entry date, it may be difficult.
Just a heads up for any other state-run sites in Italy you plan to visit - you just get your own tickets and bring your kids along and they get in free. If they are teenagers, you might need ID to prove they are under 18.
Thanks for your kind comments - I hope you have a wonderful visit!
I made an honest mistake when I ordered tickets for me and my sister, I ordered both on my name.. The entry time difference between those two cards is 15 minutes and we both have the same last name. Will they make a problem out of it? Should we just act like everything is regular without mentioning it? No one in the world would buy two tickets for himself with a 15 minute difference, it's obviously just an honest mistake..
The Parco Colosseo website gives you time to change the name on your ticket as long as it's no more than one week in advance. If your tickets are for less than a week from now, you can't change the name.
They are checking tickets and names. I can't guarantee anything but if your tickets have the same last name, you might be ok, just explaining what happened. It often depends on the person checking.
The vomitoruum
Yes, that's the name of those internal passageways - the word "vomitorium" means "to disgorge". The amphitheater could be filled or emptied in 15 minutes flat thanks to the way they designed these vomitoria.
@@Romewise thank you so much you are a treasure , visiting Rome with my dad very soon , your vids are massively helpful , much love from Liverpool
@@Magicalfluidprocess Thanks so much! I hope you and your dad have a wonderful time in Rome!
Am I the only one who believes that the city of Rome should restore the Colosseum to its former glory back when Titus was still around??
It would look so amazing. I would love to see the canope and statues on this Colosseum. And also, Nero's statue (it can be just gold plated to save money)
I think it would take quite a lot to bring it back to that level....but they have done a lot to restore some interesting things such as the arena floor and the lifts and trap door that was once in use.
@@Romewise Perhaps just use cement rather than marble. 🏟
I hate how secularist criticize the Church for tearing down historic buildings, but it's the opposite. People were doing it anyway regardless it was the decree of the Popes that put a stop to most well preserved building by declaring them Churches.
Yep!
