@@brenvilz Well yes, but it always was off-screen kind of, while here they literally aimed a shotgun against her head. We also did not know at that point she is an Android
@@RealXylon I really still don't think it was because of that... Alice was beaten, witnessed several murders, can abandon her own father figure to die, and has several endings where she dies under tons of different circumstances. Even if it's off-screen, if the devs wanted to avoid shock factor they would not have done half of what was done to her in the final product. I think this was just cut because Kara is by far the character with the most ways to die/fail as, and if this scene was in the game, she only would've had a whopping THREE chapters where you can't kill her. They wanted to give her a calm moment, which I feel benefitted the pacing most.
Oh my God! Back when I played the game for the first time, I had the feeling: “Something is about to happen, isn't it?”, but it never did. Then I found out that there was cut content in that chapter, some models and voice lines, but I wasn't sure just how complete the cut sequence was. And now this! Holy shit, I somehow didn't expect this sequence to be FULLY complete, or at least to a stage where I can be restored. Hell, even the flowchart is there! And we finally know what the gun was for. It seemed like an obvious Chekhov's Gun that was never used, so glad to see how it can pay off! I can understand why the scene was cut, though. Kara has been in danger in pretty much every chapter, could've died in almost every one, so I'm not surprised the devs wanted to give her a calm moment for once. Still, a part of me really wishes it was still in the game …? I knew the scene impacted dialogue in Midnight Train, but I'm totally shocked that Kara could actually die here, with a unique mid-credits scene where Alice apparently lives with Rose! Now I REALLY wish we would still have this scene … and at the same time, I'm so glad we don't because Kara being able to die in literally every chapter except Opening, A New Home and Fugitives would've been waaay too much. Thank you for restoring and sharing all of this! There is so much cut content in the game, and honestly, I'm glad that certain aspects were cut, but I'm a little more torn when it comes to Pirate's Cove/Midnight Train. I LOVE the alternative outcomes, but also think they would've been overkill. Nevertheless, it's great to see them now!
I pretty much mirror your exact feelings haha. Conflicted and glad how the final game ended up, but also happy to unearth this. Yep finding out how the gun was gonna pay off blew my mind. And that you have no option to intimidate the hunters if neither Kara or Luther has the gun. I'm most sad about the ripple effects it had on Midnight Train and loosing those scenes too. So much cut as a result of a single change is rather crazy, shows how complex the game is. Love the mid credits scene as well! Thank you for your nice words. The scenes were in a pretty rough state and I spend around 2 years with many breaks getting my tools into a mature enough state I could both restore the scenes and polish them up to meet the quality standards of the rest of the game
I want to know WHAT KIND of sane person goes to an abandoned theme park at 1AM, while it's snowing and dark, for SHOOTING PRACTICE, with targets that are pretty much humans and begging for their lifes. These guys aren't assholes, they're psychopaths.
The entire game is based upon the idea of humans having zero empathy about androids, however, with the androids looking and behaving the same as humans, it makes every single encountered human in the game a psychopath. I’m wondering, how many people are killed/maimed/tortured on a false premise they were androids
This makes so much more sense. I always felt like this section was too short, and then Jerry showing up later confused me, because there was no indication they'd try to leave Pirate's Cove. And why would they? It was abandoned and they seemed to be living fine, none of them looked hurt or anything. This makes everything make sense And the choice to grab the gun or not makes sense now! It seemed like it should've meant something, but in the released version it literally did not matter if you took the gun or not, Luther responds the exact same way with the gun as Kara does
Well that was... odd. Really cool to see but probably the right choice to cut this since it feels so out of place. The final part of this gives me vibes of Kara's last escape section in Crossroads
WOW! This is amazing I can’t imagine the work that went into coding and figuring out how to make the deleted content run smooth. Kara’s story is my favorite and it’s cool to see even more branches thank you for sharing!!
Thank you!! Kara's story is my favorite too so this was a big motivation of mine especially since her story got quite a few cuts. I first started this project around 2 years ago so it's taken quite the time to get here but ultimately worth it :D
@@dragonbane0Seeing as we can leave Alice behind, I wish Kara’s story could continue if you do. I understand it takes away from her theme, but a selfish ending would have been interesting.
That "go...away..." is probably my favorite Kara line delivery in the game, despite not being in the game. how it shows she's filled with both sympathy but also anger at the "They're just machines" and how this line can be interpreted us "go away from my people" in Kara's perspective.... It's like a more aggressive version of "go, Alice." which I also considered a great line delivery.
Yeah so strong emotions behind this line and this - Who was this? - Humans... having a little fun Shows her protective side and hatred (important that we were not supposed to be given a choice to shoot him, obviously) And how the bastard changes his ways the second he sees something other than just toys in his eyes Makes you think about the nature of human cruelty
@@Electrifize they didn't wanted confrontation with humans, they only wanted a "target practice" on old androids, that's why they're so shocked here to find out there was a "human"
it's good that this scene wasn't in the actual game. Kara and the bunch actually get to breathe for a while, instead of constantly having something on their plate. good job restoring it though!
Didn’t even know there was cut content in the game enough that it could be restored. I always had the feeling of “that’s it?” when it came to this chapter. Knowing this part with the hunters was supposed to be here makes a lot more sense. I think it made sense they cut it though. I notice the scene is still attempting to hide Alice’s identity as an android by now showing blue blood, but it is suspicious that these guys gun down a little girl with no issue and that she has no blood to show so think it may have given it away sooner.
Omg I always thought about that this chapter is quite short and not point to take the gun. And here it is, I can't believe I still find something new about dbh after 4 years! Thanks for your effort!
@@Randy-ip5hj if it's was an actual human, it would be more terrifying.. He killed a human child with no hesitation believing it's was an android and he didn't even check if she is human or android, and he killed an Android who acts like a mother towards her and another one who is trying to protect them both
I'm really impressed that this was a reconstruction of leftover parts. It's amazing how this game still blows my mind every time I watch it. i hope there are more things like this to be discovered in the game because i would really like to see more
To think they would cut this after they went so far with it. Pretty much completed all this content, just to cut it. You are awesome for restoring this!
I have no idea of this! how awful, hope there's more deleted content to see because this catch me off guard, especially more deleted content about Kara because she is my favorite
well at those years expecially between 2016 and 2018 there were a lot of real life murders and mass shooting, i know is a game but i can see why imho why it got cut for being maybe a little bit too much violent
I can definitely see why this was cut. Not only is it disturbing an already emotional part of the game, but it's also a case of "if you messed up prior, you'll easily game over here". If you don't grab the gun, or negotiate correctly, you just die Furthermore, if all the Jerrys are killed, that kind of ruins the continuity of Jerry being at the end, and would be sad if he just completely wasn't there
I had no idea this was ever a thing. I've played through Detroit start-to-finish multiple times and every time I think I've seen it all, I keep discovering something new. What an incredible game.
This absolutely nuts! Amazing work in restoring this, and to such quality too! I'm both happy and sad that this got cut- happy because I love Pirates Cove as it is, a nice little moment of peace for the trio, but also sad because this is so intense! I wonder if this got cut because of the early Alice death scene. I know she can die at earlier points but I feel like her death scene here would be a much more common outcome. It's a little fishy that the main guy doesn't even hesitate to shoot what looks like a little girl, and for those who are playing for the first time, it would be quite shocking, especially because it's still not obvious that she's an android (not that that makes her death sadder to me, but it might to others). Also the scene feels a lot like the Jericho raid, maybe it was just more of the same, so it got cut??? IDK, either way, fantastic work on this! It's something I've been very curious about since I first heard about it. Out of curiosity, was the Fight Club portion of Markus story anywhere near the same level of development as this, or was that cut a lot earlier?
Thank you!! Very good post and I think you indeed pointed out one of the key reasons this scene got cut. Another is probably the general violence of it and that one particular death scene with the shotgun. Also Kara's story otherwise might just be too bleak indeed. I'm just sad because of the big ripple effects this chapter could have on Midnight Train and even the credits. So much had to get cut in return because of this. Pretty amazed nothing got hard deleted at least. Fight Club indeed was cut in a much earlier state, but it probably had a good bit of the mocap done and most of the area work and also possibly early gameplay. Since that was a whole chapter it was probably more clean cut to remove from the game leaving us little to work with in the final data
@@dragonbane0 Thanks for the reply! I really love how you included the cross chapter impacts, that was a great touch, as well as that sad little credits scene with Alice at Rose's! Again, amazing work 👏🏼
You are right about this. Since Kara can just talk it out, say she is human, she would not be killed, he would sy they were here just to ,,target practive on stupid old machines". And then they just point-blank a child in the face? They were there just to kill the Jerries. The wrong choices are too brutal and they feel out of place.
@@torobraman Yes, of course! A lot of my issues with the game have to do with plot incoherences, bad plot twists, and overall a very big lack of depth surrounding the topic, alongside some poorly executed allegories. To keep it short here are my main issues: -the big problem of androids taking over human jobs and subsequently leading them into misery is never addressed in any way. I’m all for a story that tries to bring up topics of humanity in machines, but then why not show us a way that humans and machines can cohabit? Especially if that is the main point of your story. The game screams “androids deserve the same rights” any chance it can except it fail to acknowledge that androids don’t NEED many human rights like food for example. -the COUNTLESS philosophical possibilities are never considered or discussed. The game raises no significant questions, only throws “THEYRE ALIVE LOOK THEY HAVE EMPATHY” in your face. Ironically, the only time Kamski tries to bring up philosophy he’s shut down by Hank. Why are we not discussing the source of empathy? The creation of androids? WHY they can feel? Where is our threshold for perceiving humanity? What IS humanity?? What is deviancy and if deviancy is a virus then is the whole human race ill? Is the lack of emotions and ideal? I WANT TO BE ASKED THESE QUESTIONS! -the race allegory simple does not work, and the holocaust comparisons are just so hollow if not entirely tone deaf and offensive. The game relies on pre-existing historical events to make you think it is deep when in reality it is extremely shallow -the Alice plot twist entirely destroys Kara’s storyline and makes it irrelevant. It teaches us nothing, and asks no question that wasn’t asked already. I really dislike this one -there is clearly an intended way to play the game. The game counts on your “human nature” for you to make certain choices, which means all other options are not different stories but rather failed or undesirable story branches carrying plot holes or things that don’t make sense for the most part. The easiest and biggest one I can think of is when you get to stay a machine or become a deviant with Connor. Most people chose deviancy because we are feeling humans, and the story is most satisfying this way because it brings change and character growth, which is what good stories do. If you chose to remain a machine the rest of the game is a lot less satisfying and really tries to hammer it into you that you didn’t make a good decision in every aspect possible. Even Amanda doesn’t really like you that much more To sum up, the game spends all its time being like “look look historical comparisons!! If you disagree you have no heart and are racist!!” And refuses to explain or enter into ANY kind of dialogue with the player that isn’t black or white. It’s very shallow, and I am especially disappointed because the potential of the game is HUGE and it entirely ignored. If you want a more visual and nicely structured video which shares my perspective I would recommend this one!😊 ua-cam.com/video/efBBjIK3b8I/v-deo.htmlsi=PY64qXVZWkU0KdXC Please if you want to discuss more or share your thoughts after checking it out I’d love to hear them!
I just figured that this game is almost 5 years old, I can hardly believe it. It’s like I played it and watched all the different endings not so long ago, felt like a year ago at max. But it was all the way in 2018, oh my god. Thank you for still working on restoring and recording amazing lost and unreleased things like that and keeping the game alive! I still listen to some of the unreleased Kara melodies on your playlist from time to time.
Never knew these scenes were in this game, I WISH IT WAS MAN. (Edit) 3:04 Like I said, Kara has an angry side and she's not afraid to use it, good job with the voice acting and motion capture performance Valorie Curry
Oh my...This is actually amazing. I never knew that this was hidden in the Pirate's Cove Chapter all along and cut. I just thought that Kara finally had a calm moment after the trouble she went through with Alice but it appears that they were supposed to "always" be in danger. And you also restored the flowchart for this hunt segment, that's impressive. Were you also able to restore the flowchart for Midnight Train, when Kara died there or was that not possible at the time? The fact that Kara was actually also endangered for death if Luther died early before Midnight Train is something I always suspected if I were to fail this chapter but only Luther got killed, since he obviously always survives Pirate's Cove in the current game state. Good job, man. It's clear that you spent much time and effort into this. First Dark Pictures: Man of Medan gets cut scenes revealed which were by now added in an official update and now I get to see parts of Detroit: Become Human I never knew existed. If you mind me asking, would it be possible to make this playable for users who own the game? And on which version did you do it? Epic or Steam?
Excellent post, thank you so much! I could have restored the flowchart for Midnight Train as well, but truth be told it is a lot of work, so I took a small shortcut there since it was only one alternative ending. For Pirate's Cove this was obviously really worth it though.
This made me really happy that there is still more to this game. Even as a deleted scene. I remember being along with the hype when this game first came out, and to this day it is still one of my absolute favorite story games. This game is ageless. But when I found out that there is still more to be discovered with this game, I couldn’t help but smile. This was really interesting to watch. Nice work!
We see the story from Karas perspective, and she wanted to believe that Alice was human. Alice didn't take out the marker on her head, you can see it in Jericho. The only one who couldn't see it was Kara, if I understood it correctly.
@@mocn YK Model androids' leds are optional. Cyberlife tried to make them more "child" I assume Todd removed Alice's led or she had no led maybe workers in cyberlife removed her led before Todd buys her. In jericho other Alice was alone and there was no human to look after her.

This is so goofy. I can see why it was deleted LMAO. Fantastic restoration though, and creating a mod for people to use too! That must have taken a lot of work. Nice job
Thank you so much for your great work! When I was playing I always felt Kara's story line was a bit..."top heavy" as the most consequential choices were available at the very beginning. I was jokingly thinking at one moment that Kara can die in almost every mission except "New Home", "Pirate Cove" and "Midnight train", but your work just proved that Kara was once possible to die in literally EVERY mission..🤣. Again, I totally understand why the developer chose to remove these sections and change the tone of Kara's storyline a bit. "Pirate Cove" is indeed a heart warming mission during Kata and Alice's endeavors.
I am blown away at how good and polished this is, you can't tell it's restored whatsoever, I would really really like a version of the game with all of your restored content man this is insane.
This is incredible!! I remember learning about the unused audio and the models hidden out of bounds, but I thought that's all there was left. To see everything come together like this... Wow!!
The person that posted this has in their channel a video called "connor restored speech", I haven't watched it yet, but maybe it's the one you're looking for
This explains why there were so few Jerrys at Jericho and the end scenes, I was wondering about that *dies inside and tears silently drip down my face* 😀
I'm absolutely losing my shit thank you to whoever restored this! I'm not even gonna watch the video I'm just downloading the mod and playing it myself blind, this is super super cool!
I understand the reason why it was cut, but it's sad that we can't have it as a bonus or inside an cut version of the game. It's giving more sense to the game and dialogs following the scene... It's explains why Alice saying humans don't like androids, why there is so few Jerry, why a Jerry is ready to sacrify his life for them... well, maybe it's a miss. The scene may be kept with no chance of death or something like that, just to keep the scenario intact without dead
Holy shit, you're amazing for having uncovered this and put it together! Thank you! It's so interesting to see how things could have been. (Sorry, special interest brain go brr and words are hard, but this is really interesting)
Thanks for all your hard work for making this whole again! I remember watching a video a while ago about the truck an extra characters still out of bounds. If only they kept it in the final game - I like the little scenes we got about Kara, Luther, and Alice. Wished there were more of the three of them. Once again, thanks for restoring the cut content! I love learning about extra unused bits in games.
4:02 "Humans.. having a little fun.." LITERAL CHILLS UP MY SPINE THE WAY SHE SAID IT OMG- It shows her protective side and hatred, Kara just becoming more of my favorite and this deleted portion of her story literally makes me EVEN MORE attached to her story and character.
Thank you so much for all this hard work, man! It blows your mind learning something new about this game FIVE years later! And when i thought i already knew everything and nothing could surprise me in dbh. Don't understand why they cut out this piece, thats a shame. It would be way more interesting and full like this.
I think they should have kept this. While I think it's annoying that these guys can die so much, the scene makes so much more sense now. Also the fact that there were only a few jerrys after this scene adds up more with it. It's a shame they didn't keep it in to be honest.
I agree with you that it is more realistic, but if they kept it, Kara could really die in almost every chapter. Im glad they slowed down her story a little bit, theres enough action and danger in the earlier and later chapters
its so sad how much they cut out... this would've been a really good addition, since karas route dealt the most directly with everyday people... and help this chapter and subsequently her route not feel so.... empty...
Amazing work on uncovering this, but it was a good call to remove it from the game. The scene was already tense with you not knowing what would happen, being a sigh of relief was a nice change of pace
(In Carl's voice) Oh my god... This is completely amazing! I thought that, when you restored Connor's speech, it couldn't get any more complex, but I'm completely shocked about how this section has its ripples on the rest of the game! I'm a bit sad they cut it, but yeah, Kara would basically been able to die in every chapter except 'A New Home' and 'Fugitives' in this version, so I kinda understand... Thank you so much for doing this!

*insane
@@sonicthelegend8741sane is the correct word in the context of this comment
The entire game is based upon the idea of humans having zero empathy about androids, however, with the androids looking and behaving the same as humans, it makes every single encountered human in the game a psychopath. I’m wondering, how many people are killed/maimed/tortured on a false premise they were androids
I think it would have been darker if it showed blood if Alice died. Then they still don’t react or react in a way that they are psychopaths
@@CO0L_CAT Gotta be careful with portraying the death of a little girl, even if she's an Android. She still looks human.
I love how drawing gun chapter ending is "everyone survived" when literally every Jerry dies
This makes so much more sense. I always felt like this section was too short, and then Jerry showing up later confused me, because there was no indication they'd try to leave Pirate's Cove. And why would they? It was abandoned and they seemed to be living fine, none of them looked hurt or anything. This makes everything make sense
And the choice to grab the gun or not makes sense now! It seemed like it should've meant something, but in the released version it literally did not matter if you took the gun or not, Luther responds the exact same way with the gun as Kara does
I didn’t know Kara was going to able to die in Midnight Train, damn that’s neat!
i was like GODDAMN😲😲😲😲
Well that was... odd. Really cool to see but probably the right choice to cut this since it feels so out of place. The final part of this gives me vibes of Kara's last escape section in Crossroads
Yeah it does feel similar
This is INSANE!!! How did we not know about this?! It’s like a hidden DLC!
@@dragonbane0 Kara and Connor's were my favorite story lines I mean don't get me wrong Marcus was a pretty cool character though
@@dragonbane0Seeing as we can leave Alice behind, I wish Kara’s story could continue if you do. I understand it takes away from her theme, but a selfish ending would have been interesting.
OH MY GOD I NEVER SEEN THIS ONE, KARA IS SO BADASS AT 3:34
That "go...away..." is probably my favorite Kara line delivery in the game, despite not being in the game. how it shows she's filled with both sympathy but also anger at the "They're just machines" and how this line can be interpreted us "go away from my people" in Kara's perspective.... It's like a more aggressive version of "go, Alice." which I also considered a great line delivery.
Yeah so strong emotions behind this line and this
- Who was this?
- Humans... having a little fun
Shows her protective side and hatred (important that we were not supposed to be given a choice to shoot him, obviously)
And how the bastard changes his ways the second he sees something other than just toys in his eyes
Makes you think about the nature of human cruelty
Nah, that made no sense - there were 2 guys with shotguns yet were terrified by one human with a glock.
@@ElectrifizeBecause they had a gun pointed at them
@@Electrifize they didn't wanted confrontation with humans, they only wanted a "target practice" on old androids, that's why they're so shocked here to find out there was a "human"

it's good that this scene wasn't in the actual game. Kara and the bunch actually get to breathe for a while, instead of constantly having something on their plate. good job restoring it though!
That "RUN!" signal with the background music at 1:42 gave me a goosebump! You did an awesome job!
I love the fact they didn't let us to see Alice's blood in those case when she died.
It would make sense since at that point we didn’t know Alice was an android
@@Randy-ip5hj if it's was an actual human, it would be more terrifying.. Holy fuck, I really thought this whole section was lost media! Incredible work as always
Always knew this chapter felt like there was more to it. Guess it's finally confirmed.
Kara dying while song of the lost girl is playing on the background is great
After all this time, you managed to uncover deleted scenes? Very impressive, it’s cool to see what would’ve happened
I think I know why this scene was deleted. It is needlessly violent and would make players grim. It was a nice decision to give Kara hope.

well at those years expecially between 2016 and 2018 there were a lot of real life murders and mass shooting, i know is a game but i can see why imho why it got cut for being maybe a little bit too much violent
I always felt like something was off with this chapter, now I understand why.
Me too, first time i played it i was expecting something to happen
This is wild that you were able to restore these like they'd never even been removed.
this is so impressive omg. im so glad this fandom is still alive
I can definitely see why this was cut. Not only is it disturbing an already emotional part of the game, but it's also a case of "if you messed up prior, you'll easily game over here". If you don't grab the gun, or negotiate correctly, you just die
Furthermore, if all the Jerrys are killed, that kind of ruins the continuity of Jerry being at the end, and would be sad if he just completely wasn't there
I had no idea this was ever a thing.
Again, amazing work 👏🏼
Perhaps it could have been avoidable if Kara killed a certain someone or deactivated something.
I never knew why people hate that game , it's a cinematic masterpiece
who hates it??
I like the game it’s just not very good for many reasons
@@beenice1555can you name them? I’m heavily curious
@@torobraman
Yes, of course!
A lot of my issues with the game have to do with plot incoherences, bad plot twists, and overall a very big lack of depth surrounding the topic, alongside some poorly executed allegories. To keep it short here are my main issues:
-the big problem of androids taking over human jobs and subsequently leading them into misery is never addressed in any way.
The game relies on pre-existing historical events to make you think it is deep when in reality it is extremely shallow
-the Alice plot twist entirely destroys Kara’s storyline and makes it irrelevant. It teaches us nothing, and asks no question that wasn’t asked already. I really dislike this one
-there is clearly an intended way to play the game. Even Amanda doesn’t really like you that much more
To sum up, the game spends all its time being like “look look historical comparisons!! If you disagree you have no heart and are racist!!” And refuses to explain or enter into ANY kind of dialogue with the player that isn’t black or white. It’s very shallow, and I am especially disappointed because the potential of the game is HUGE and it entirely ignored.
If you want a more visual and nicely structured video which shares my perspective I would recommend this one!😊

(Edit) 3:04 Like I said, Kara has an angry side and she's not afraid to use it, good job with the voice acting and motion capture performance Valorie Curry
this is crazy, I never knew something like this even existed in the game files

I never got how people in this game easily shoot Alice like we are supposed to think she is human
We see the story from Karas perspective, and she wanted to believe that Alice was human. Alice didn't take out the marker on her head, you can see it in Jericho. The only one who couldn't see it was Kara, if I understood it correctly.
