The acoustics at the Ballroom really enhance this organ. It is really fun to listen to. As with the other recordings made there. It is ashamed that the big old area as such as the Chicago Stadium with its gran Barton Organ no longer exist. Best wishes from the other side of the pond.
I might be mistaken, but I think you might be referring to the Wurlitzer at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool. Whilst this instrument is in Blackpool, it's in the much larger Empress Ballroom in Blackpool, located within the winter gardens complex. So far, no commercial recordings have been made on it. The other Wurlitzer is also in the Winter Gardens, in the Opera House, and is the newest original Wurlitzer installation in the World, and the only one installed in a true theatre, not a cinema. The acoustics do, however, make a big difference. Within 2 minute's walk, you can experience 3 similarly sized and specified instruments in 3 completely different acoustics.
YT no I am referring to your postings those at the Empress. Both the Tower and Empress have great organs. The acoustics at the Empress seem to enhance more. Thanks for your doing this
Of all three venues at Blackpool, I believe the empress has the best acoustics? It is a real shame the original 3/13 Wurlitzer was taken out! A real oversite of the Tower company back in the day!
YT I might also add I love the Blackpool style playing. The size of the Empress looks to be much bigger than the Tower. The Chicago Stadium seated nearly 20,000 the Barton Organ was massive 6/54. There are commercial recordings made in the 50s. There is a good one made by Jack Moelman just before it closed. It is on u tube. You might enjoy
No theater organs currently in the Philippines, however, the Avenue used to have one, and the Bellevue and Metropolitan have empty organ chambers. The MET is under restoration. Edit: avenue was knocked down in 2006
Superb delivery - thank you for that. Can I ask about technique? When playing anacruisis/passing semi-tones, they jump out. Is this achieved through coaxing the swell/great pedal as sfz?
It's use of the crescendo for accents. Generally speaking, when playing for dancing the swell pedals are left wide open as there's a fair bit of noise on the floor and in the room, and the crescendo is used to add in accents. Certainly not a concert atmosphere!
superb playing cameron...well done
Lovely acoustics from the empress Wurlitzer/ Compton organ!
Brings tears of joy to my eyes. Such a wonderful ability to manipulate a classic instrument.

Lovely - thanks for sharing. My word, Blackpool is spoilt for theatre organs :)

WHERE ARE THE DANCERS???
On the dance floor. I was specifically asked by a couple of dancers not to film them, and for understandable reasons. You can, however, hear them.
