    I tried these with the Mayflower Arc amp and I have to say in terms of pure sound quality it’s one of the best. But in my opinion that’s just for sound quality and when it comes to other aspects of sound like imaging and how far you hear footsteps from it’s no different to any other gaming headset, but again that’s my opinion based on my hearing.
    Compared to something like SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless it makes no difference in footsteps distance and loudness. Plus to get the most out of the PC38X you need an amp and it’s not enough just plugging it in the DualSense controller.
    I personally think gaming headsets have come a long way and definitely much better then they were like even 5 years ago.
    In my opinion if you’re after pure sound quality equal to studio quality sound and you’re into immersive games, get this headset or any other headphone, but if you’re like me and all you care about is how loud and from how far away you can hear footsteps in games like Warzone, go with something like SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless or similar. Plus the sound quality as well on some headsets these days are very good and whilst being wireless.

      Is this a joke? I own both the PC38x and the Arctis 7P+ (the top of the line PS5 wireless headset out right now). I even own an HD58x. The sound stage and imaging on the PC38x compared to the Arctis 7P+ is MILES ahead. Hell most of the time I just use my HD58x (with custom cups) and a Yeti mic. Sony gimped the wireless headset connectivity on the PS5 on purpose to force you to use their torture device the 3D Pulse so even the Arctis will have issues with crackling, audio skipping, etc. What Sony didnt skimp out on was the DAC in the DualSense it is FAR superior to the Dualshock on the PS4. The DualSense has absolutely no issues driving either the PC38x or the HD58x to the point where in games like Modern Warfare, Cold War, Warzone I find myself turning the master volume down to about 95%. Footsteps are more distinguishable than the Arctis, 3DPulse, or the other wireless headsets ive tried (recently tried and returned the Razer Kaira Pro - $199). If going wireless is a must and a requirement for you then of course an Arctis 7P will do the job but for me and many others you would be doing yourself a disservice not to factor in far superior headphones like the PC38x/HD58x/HD560 that require a wired connection. At least these headphones will last past 2 years (average lifespan of battery degradation for wireless headsets including top of the line bluetooth headsets like B/O, Bose QC35, Sony WH series).

      @@MrGreed2000 Everyone’s hearing is different mate. Plus I said Arctis Pro Wireless not 7P. The 7P is pretty much the same headset as the normal Arctis 7. Pro Wireless is a different beast with a frequency response of 10-40,000Hz high fidelity drivers.
      I’m not saying the imaging on headsets is better than the PC38X, but it’s not day and night difference. Open back generally doesn’t help with competitive games and in Warzone where you get so many things going on at once, open back headsets dynamic range is to wide and not that great for footsteps in my opinion.
      Like I said everyone’s hearing is different. I prefer to sacrifice a little bit of the actual sound quality for wireless convenience.

      @@famezy9103 hey you said you used this with a mixamp? I have a pair of astros with the mixamp but im looking into getting something else for a friend. wanted to get a mixamp so i can hook it up to discord through an aux can you reccommend anything for me?

    • @famezy9103
      @famezy9103 2 роки тому

      @@BillB3737 I don’t think the Astro mix amp has enough juice to power something like a proper headphone. It does have some power, but not like a proper dedicated headphone amp.
      Have a look online for proper headphone amps, there are plenty. Mayflower Arc is really good.
      If you’re looking to get something that has good quality sound and great imaging for critical sounds like footsteps, you can two ways…
      1- Headphone: You’ll need a headphone that has more emphasis on high end of the frequency as that’s where the footstep range is or you can easily download good EQ softwares to customise any headphone, but that’s if you’re playing on PC. For console, a good amp to power the headphone. Beyerdynamic DT 770 is a popular one and these days you can find them around £100
      2- Headset: But not just any headset. I would say Astro A20 punches way above it price tag of £100 and I highly rate it. Astro A40 with mixamp. I didn’t like the Astro A50. My choice would be the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wired or Wireless. I personally use the Arctis Pro Wireless and it’s amazing. It comes with its own desktop dac that’s the wireless transmitter, but also acts as an amp and it’s infinitely customisable including full EQ adjustments without having to plug it into a PC and has a frequency of 10Hz-40,000Hz. Normally you’ll find that kind of frequency on something like a Beyerdynamic headphone.
      But like I said in my original comment. No matter how much you spend on a headphone or headset the maximum distance you’ll hear footsteps in games like Warzone is 35 metres. But of course better the headphone or headset, better the actual general sound quality as well as being able to hear the footsteps from that distance. Let’s not forget about volume as well. For example the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless, it gets stupid loud, which also means your ears will hear those frequencies louder.
      Hope that helps and good luck with your search 😊

    I appreciate the review. the mic issue is definitely a bummer. i'm looking for a new headset with great audio and a good mic that doesn't pic up everything. i may have to just go external mic and headphone separately route to get the ideal setup

    One thing I've read a few times is that the mic is very quiet on these. Wemas it quiet when plugged into the PS5 controller? I'm worried about that because of the buzzing noise that comes through when you crank your mic volume up on there.

      Astro A40 def has more customizability options, but the clarity on these is just really good. These are better for overall performance in sound quality, A40 are great for additional features

    I need help. New headset $200 max. Using it on Ps5 only (currently no pc access for apps or eq adjustments)
    Which would you recommend? Primarily fps games.
    -steelseries 7p+
    -Corsair hs80
    -PC38x
    -Turtle beach 700
    Or any others…. Reddit says this headset is the best but the wire and the noise picking has me worried

    • @MrGreed2000
      @MrGreed2000 2 роки тому +3

      Id avoid turtle beach and corsair. The 7P+ is a good option but it's not without it's problems, look up on Reddit to see the connectivity issues and other problems it can have. I recently bought the Razer Kaira Pro ($199) but the haptics are useless so avoid that. If I were you I would order the Razer Kaira X for PS5 (it's on sale at Gamestop/Amazon for $45) which has the same 50mm drivers in the $199 Pro but is wired. The microphone on the Razer doesnt pick up much noise from breathing or surrounding environment.

      H6 pro is wired but really good and they have a closed back version and it’s very premium, hs80 is the best value and it has a great mic test

    • @picsoleated

      I think in some aspects it does, but the 7p+ also has it's own benefits, like EQ customization, somewhat better mids highs, however pc38X has better resolution and just clarity overall.
