I love these beans. We call them Bora in Guyana, South America.

I was complaining to an elderly neighbour that my beans weren't flowering. She said the birds pick the the flowers. Sounded like rubbish to me but a few days later I found a pair of birds busily picking all the flowers off my beans! My presence didn't deter them one bit. They were taking them to line their nest.

    Hi, I love your garden.
We call these beans bora here in Suriname. They are eaten a lot here. Only, we harvest them just before the seeds get mature. The seeds should be just forming that is when they are sweeter. We cut them and saute them with garlic you may add meat or smoked fish we also saute them with pieces of ham or salted beef . They are also delicious with dried schrimp and even with fresh fish. Anyway , keep doing what you're doing. I absolutely love your garden

I’m from Trinidad 🇹🇹. We cook them in many different ways. We add it into stew beef. It is also great in curries.

Nice! I know this bean as Bodi (boh-dee). I planted some for the first time too, but they're still very young. I have another month before harvest. 🙏🏾

  • @cantseetheforestforthetree9673

These are great as a shelling bean too. I like to harvest them once the seeds are mature and the shell is kind of leathery, at that stage they can be pulled apart from one end and the beans will fly out into my bowl. I’ll cook them right away, or freeze them in a 1 gal. Freezer bag for later. If they’re dried down completely they can be stored at room temperature, but they will require soaking and/or extra cooking time The seeds taste like black eyed peas.

I love these beans! I planted in April and I had loads to eat fresh and also for the freezer. I also made some pickled refrigerator beans. I was going to plant more, but the heat has been unbearable. I just ran out and planted my sweet potato slips last week just, before sunrise. I got a great harvest from my purple hull also.
At almost 63 I do alright with my gardening. Here in South Florida I can basically grow things all year long.
Enjoy your harvest and God bless y’all. 😊

What an amazing patch of beans. Those are nice in stirfry. The ones with beans forming start to get soggy and not so nice. They dont need to be cooked a long time either. Amazing garden you have there.

in germany we learn in school as gardeners that "Thirst makes Roots" ( Durst macht Wurzeln) , if you water everyday, the plant would expect "feeding" everyday , not looking for water because why should it? :D blessings, Thank you for your videos, greetings from northern germany, where we envy the heat at the moment :D

The beans look amazing! We planted them this year but only a few plants in a new bed with barely any amendments. Ours were pitiful compared to yours! Great job! I'm looking forward to the video on the cucuzzi squash. We grew those too & I let them get too big to eat. I'm thinking we will just let them dry out and save the seeds. I love seeing what other Georgia gardeners are growing & love your channel. Take care!
