  • Mullein is a must for any herbal remedy cabinet. This fuzzy biennial shines during cold and flu season. Mullein is commonly used for respiratory problems, particularly sore throat and coughs. It has wonderful expectorant and cough suppressant properties which make it an essential part of your herbal remedy cabinet.
Mullein has so many magical medicinal properties. We will discuss a few in this video, but there is so much more to learn about this wonderful plant! Let me know how you use mullein in the comments, and as always thanks for watching.

Great Mullein (GM) is one of the best soil builders. i have encouraged them all over my food forest. the oil infusion is also great for your skin. since i spend all day working in my forest, i use GM oil on my skin after shower. i leave my spikes because over winter, they stick out of snow and birds will eat the seeds. not sure why yours are so small. mine are over 6'. note that they prefer drier areas so do not water them. the deep taproot also is great for breaking up compacted soil. the broad leafs also block out most other weeds. they also host many beneficial insects and organisms around their roots and under their leaves. if you have a section of land that needs to be made fertile with fewer weeds, you can scalp it down at the end of fall and spread GM seeds all over it. in spring you will have a GM carpet and on the 2nd year you will have a GM forest which will self seed. after a few years you will have an amazing land to grow other crops in. just mulch every thing into the soil. one of the most beneficial plants anywhere 🙂 note: there are other mulleins and i have them too so it is best to use the full name for clarity. scientific name is verbascum thapsus 🙂

I've got 2 beautiful mullein growing in my garden apparently in the 2nd year because they are tall and full of blossom buds. I had no idea they have medicinal value. Will definitely give harvesting a try. Thanks!

❤ I'm happy to have found your video because I had this grow in front of my house and had no idea what it was. It was eaten by insects. I didn't completely tear it down just laid it down to decompose. I had no idea it was medicinal. I will be on the look out next time to see if I can get seeds and plant it in my garden. Thank you so much for sharing such valuable information.

I've seen mullein before but had no idea the medicinal properties. Plant identification is something I'm lacking in...great job and thanks!

A few years ago I was introduced to the power of medicinal herbs and now it has become a passion of mine. I'm hoping to get to the forest in the next few weeks for a few foraging videos. Hopefully I will stumble across a few things to share with you all.

After the flowers have bloomed and the stalk dries out you can take the large stalk and shake it over paper. The seeds are small.
