message in a bottle was actually the first song she did with max martin and shellback, which were the producers on 1989! so that's why it has such a pop vibe
i think it’d fit more in 1989 (tv) but the song is from the earlier era so 😬
It's the one they were working on before We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together's event happened that made them move onto it.
If we're being honest, they made the wrong choice going with WANGEBT for the album... except they were right too because WANGEBT fits on the theme of Red far more than Message In A Bottle.
@@coolestuncoolperson5773 I remember Taylor talking about how the vault tracks are a variety of circumstances with one of them being songs she wrote but felt they should go on the next album instead of the current one and to be honest Message In A Bottle absolutely should have went on 1989 and I have to wonder why she didn't think to put it on there... even if it was a deluxe track??? Same with like Mr. Perfectly Fine... that so could've went on Speak Now and it's solo written so it still would've kept the purpose of the solo written album too! Sometimes Taylor and co made wrong choices in my opinion. I'm so excited for the 1989 TV vault tracks now because I want to know what she ultimately picked over those knowing she left something like Message In A Bottle, literal gold, off of it - so what tracks after the Red time did she not put on 1989 that were probably literal gold too?
Needless to say we're getting SPOILT.
She actually wants red to be a Pop album but her label disapprove
@@iKazed "if -we're- being honest, they made the wrong choice with WANEGBT"? Bffr... That is literally the perfect lead single for red. Cheeky and fun but straight to the point. The second single was Begin Again which focused on finding love again. Then IKYWT which showed a part of her that is hurt, and she's basically blaming herself for ignoring the red flags of that person. Then 22, which showcased her carefree ness. They all showed a different part of Taylor. They were perfect imo.

Red was a transitional album for Taylor. Whereas her first three albums were completely country, and the next few albums following Red were completely pop, Red was both country AND pop. It had songs like WANEGBT, IKYWT, and 22 on it, which are as pop as it gets.
She said there’s 14 genre in Red, cause she’s in experimental phase, I adore her cause she doesn’t want to be labelled and she just wants to produce music

She said in an interview that a lot of these songs in the vault just never had a place on the albums that she was releasing. They didn't quite fit on RED and she thought she'd save them for the next album. Well the next album came around and they didn't quite fit there either. Basically these are good songs that just didn't fit the original theme and another reason is probably because it would have made the album too long according to her record label she was with at the time. Honestly, she probably could have had an entire album after RED and before 1989 and it would have been totally different but about the same kinds of topics.
The mix of genre and sound was reflective of being young and going through heartbreak and confusion and all the emotions you feel through all that. Happy, free, confused, and lonely at the same time. She called the album “a patchwork quilt of emotions”….each song can stand on its own so sonically the album is a little all over the place but on purpose!
Babe was actually a hugely popular country release when she gave it to Sugarland!

I like how you try to add "What about your promises, promises, promises" in every chance the rhythm can!!!!
Taylor wanted Red to be her first pop album, but her label pushed her to stay somewhat country! That's why the vault songs are more poppy, and the regular tracks are more pop sounding too! This was her original vision for the feel of the album.
that explains why I love the songs from the vault. I'm only a casual fan of Taylor and Red is my least favorite album of hers (except few songs like All Too Well or Treacherous), but I LOVE the songs from the vault, especially Babe and Message In A Bottle.
She never said that she just said it was her first time experimenting with pop and she liked it
I dont think Red is supposed to be a pop record tho. I mean Red is more than just a pop or country. It has arena rock, folk, edm etc. Its very experimental album. Stop saying lies when Taylor said nothing like you said.
@@anisanurraudah8383 Big Machine Records promoted Red as a country album. Taylor wanted to be more experimental and even turned in a first version of Red to her label that she changed her mind about later because it sounded to similar to her previous works so she reworked some of the songs and it was her first approach into doing more pop and experimental songs. Of course Red is a mashup of genres. But she wanted to go more pop than just country like she had before. Red is a masterpiece of an album, there's no need to call me a liar.
they were not wrong, her best albums are not the pop ones, 1989, reputation, lover, good album but her top, with folkore and evermore she went back at her top

Personally the vault tracks took me by surprise. There wasn't one that I didn't like except the very first night, but its grown on me after listening to the album over over since the release!
I love Nothing New because it sounds like a more brutally honest The Lucky One. In The Lucky One she's singing about the same thing but in an almost saccharine supportive way. Like hey, you're the lucky one now. Congrats, I'm gonna go grow some roses now. Which is lovely and all, but rings somewhat false. Nothing New touches on the feelings that the older, "no longer lucky" one has after that shiny new ingenue comes on to the scene. I think it something many women have felt as they get older, and the fact that Taylor was able to encapsulate that feeling at such a young age is so mesmerizing.

10:25 AJay, Taylor re-recorded this album and Fearless and the rest of the albums released before Lover (Self-titled album to Reputation) because she doesn't own the masters of them because her old label sold them to someone and that's why she is remaking them along with song's that she wrote for this album that didn't make the cut in the original (stolen) version, like the original 10 min All Too Well, I Bet you think about me, and the rest that are labeled as "From the Vault", also the tracks Better Man and Babe was given to other artist, so now she is making her versions for this album, also, she added songs that she recorded during the recording of the album like the song "Ronan" because she wanted to own that song because is a very special one because is about the story of a kid who died of cancer, and the mother of the kid, who co-wrote the song, wanted the song be re-recorded to have control of the story of her child. Also, the songs from the vault are now getting released and rerecorded because Taylor was planning to add them on the next album but she never done that because she was doing other songs instead, so she decided to re-record them to this remakes if the albums.
I think you don't get what she meant because I bet she already knows the whole thing surrounding Taylor not having masters and stuff (you can check the description).
She's asking why the song didn't make the cut in the first place. She's not actually confused or anything, she just thinks the song is so good she wish it's actually released in the OG as well instead of waiting for how long by now.
Most people who watches AjayII probably already know the background of the re-record, at least the parts that you explained in your comment.

"She's so mature during her RED days" I SCREAMED💀💀💀💀💀
🤣🤣🤣
i miss you 🥺 please do midnights, the world needs you
Ajay's eyes popping out on Taylor's low notes is me. They always surprise me & I love them.
Actually, Forever Winter is about her late best friend, Jeff Lang, who passed away due to drug overdose in 2010, shortly after the release of Speak Now. She talked about him while accepting a BMI Award back in 2010, after attending his funeral just the day before. She played him her songs first, and apparently they were very close since high school years.
Lots of the songs from the vault are pop because she wanted Red to be a pop album but her management held her back and wanted the album to be country
GIRL WE MISS U COME BACK QUEEN TAYLOR IS COMINGGGG!!
I love this line in “I Bet…” : “she’s insane She wrote a song about me” cuz when her and Conor were dating his uncle disapproved and publicly made a snide comment about Taylor is “already writing a song bout him for when they break up” oh I love how petty our queen is 😂😭
the song is for Jake though
@@outofcuriosity3203 oh! It seemed like the lyrics were pointed at Conor’s old money family lifestyle 😭 guess I’m wrong. I guess if the shoe still fits 😂
@@KM-cr2qz she references indie music (also in WANEGBT and Begin Again) and Jake is a big fan of it. He grew up in Beverly Hills because his parents work in the movie industry. The family also has noble origins from Sweden. Last but certainly not least, Lori McKenna tweeted that they wrote this song in June 2011, back when the Delicate Music Video was released. Taylor also mentioned it in October 2011
@@outofcuriosity3203 omg wow! Thanks for all that info that makes it so much more clear! I didn’t know the Gyllenhaal’s were an industry family!
And then she didn't write any break up song about Connor😂
I can’t believe this is her first time hearing Phoebe Bridger’s heavenly vocals
I'm not super familiar with her either, I was surprised at how similar both girls voices are. Her verse was beautiful
Listen to Phoebe's Punisher. Arguibly one of last year's best albums. Full great poetry
23:21 petition for ajayll to provide backing vocals on taylor's next album
YES!!!!
Sort of off topic but… I myself do not identify as non binary, but can I just say that I adore the fact that you now include non binary individuals in your intro. Thank you for making everyone feel welcome.
This is wholesome❤
