Classic? Bach is science fiction. It's impossible, it shouldn't be there, it's a quirk in space-time continuum. His music comes straight from the future. We humans are just not there yet. Just turn on the radio and you know what I mean.
Junior High I was forced into a music class big bummer. Then we got to Bach at 1st same old thing just another old dude from way back when and then I heard it and... i don't know it was different. I fell in love. I now love all things classic .. and before, but still Bach IS music.
Karl Richter was the very finest conductor, pianist, harpsichordist and choirmaster and his music will live forever. Bach......well what can I say other than he was a gift to this planet!
Finding a recording like this on YT is like coming home for find that someone has left a fine ice wine in your fridge, a great cheese out on the counter and a fire in the fireplace. And a brilliant companion.
Organist E. Power Biggs once demonstrated Bach's propensity for joy by playing one of his gavottes - in which the organist literally "dances" the gavotte with his feet on the pedals.
Alex Tocqueville Amen to that! My srntiments exactly. Just posted on fb how I noticed Meistro Richter's beautiful hands on a photo. Richter was perfect in every way when it came to music.. . particularly his JS BACH interpretation. I am very fortunate to have all of Richter Brandenburg on Angel LPs. Took good xare if them, all 45 years. Like new!
Yes Baroque... The 'Classical' I used it as a generic rather than a specific musical epoque. Thanks, always willing to learn, I like to be corrected, no ego problem.☺
Could just be my ancestry from Brandenburg, but this has always been a favorite of mine, ever since childhood when I'd listen to a clip of it over and over again on the old Microsoft Encarta 2000!
For a man who composed such a great volume of sacred music, the real divinity is listening to his secular work and accepting it is simply for the joy of music.
Never had heard this fantastic piece. I was lucky enough as to assist to a concert i was invited to, where the chamber orchestra featured it and i was absolutely SPELLBOUND since that magic evening. When i grew older i searched for a version of this masterpiece and quickly incorporated it into my music library. This is art at its finest, timeless........
In mid-March , the cherry blossoms will be in full bloom one after another everywhere in Japan The banquet under the cherry blossoms in full bloom while listening to Bach's masterpieces is the ultimate in bliss for everyone . From Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun 🇯🇵
The third Brandenburg is one of my all time favorite pieces of music. I like this version. Being played in an art gallery, the room was extremely "acoustically live." Lots of hard reflective surfaces, especially the floor. But it actually made the sound brighter in this case. I could have lived without all the standing and pointing--strictly showmanship. It was very good that the director did not overcut the video--often there is far too much editing, and jumping around. Nice work!

Perfect. I am enthralled when I hear and see this. What tone, voicing, passion, blending, expression, clarity, phenomonenal techniques.....Geniuses performing the work of a genius. Bach must be dancing for joy!! Very keyed up actually...smile.)
Outstanding performance of Bach Brandenburg Concerto No.3 in G major. I love this concerto so much. It makes me feel so happy every time I listen to it.
This was certainly played in the Kaffeehaus" in Leipzig. I can imagine that very well. And Bach enjoyed it very much as he had excellent musicians at his side.
+Quincannon Bullshit. Bach is the fruit of a great man's soul, and the balm of any man's heart who has the wisdom to hear it. It's people like you that relegate classical music to stuffy-ass parlors filled with old women with pinched mouths and bitter hearts. I mostly listen to heavy metal. This shit is glorious.
Goodh Lee What he doesn't get is that he's just as stereotypical as the people who listen to Justin Bieber. He's just a stereotypical classical music listener: old, bitter, pissy, grumpy, staggeringly elitist and smarmy, and hostile to every other kind of music on the planet.
This is an AMAZING performance ! I find it somewhat amusing That Karl Richter as Harpsichordist, & Conductor finds it necessary to drop the Keyboard playing now and then to direct various performers who are obviously so well rehearsed, that they need no direction whatsoever,... especially as none of them are looking at him... I do enjoy his improvisation for movement #2,... though it could be longer.... I would love to see some chamber group do a full chamber improvisation for movement #2 in which the performers are so well acquainted with Baroque composition etc that it goes off like a well oiled Jazz improv !
Wonderful version! I LOVE it! I'm playing this for a concert, and, even though i'm a violinist, I'm playing the viola part, and they played it beautilfully in this version! Bravo, or should I say BRAVA!
Before there was Lennon & McCartney...before there was Ray Charles...before Ellington, Joplin, Beethoven...before there was Amadeus...there was JS Bach. He was the first. There have been many great artists and composers in history. But god gave us only one JS Bach. He was humanity's first musical genius.
Love it, Love it, Love it. Actually I heard it while my daughter was playing a video game on PS3. I ran out and asked her what it was and she gave me the whole listings. Very cool.
This music will rock 500 years from now!
J.S. Bach rules!!!
Sure it will !!! - Most likely even for longer . . .
Classic? Bach is science fiction. It's impossible, it shouldn't be there, it's a quirk in space-time continuum.

yeaaaah!
Only 500 years?
Karl Richter was the very finest conductor, pianist, harpsichordist and choirmaster and his music will live forever. Bach......well what can I say other than he was a gift to this planet!
One of the greatest compositions ever created by a human.
Love how loose they're playing this - strings are Born To Be Wild !
One could say that about almost everything Bach wrote!
The only thing on the same playing field is Mozart’s 41st, last movement. 5 part invertible counterpoint would get a pat on the back from JSB
Bach’s music is the perfect trifecta of Mathematics, Art, and Spirituality.
The foundations of a lot of modern music. Master of the bass line.
Finding a recording like this on YT is like coming home for find that someone has left a fine ice wine in your fridge, a great cheese out on the counter and a fire in the fireplace. And a brilliant companion.
well said
A beautiful woman?
Fast. Powerful. Aggressive. Beautiful. Magnificent. Graceful.
This looks almost unreal because of how together they are..this is by far the best performance of this piece I've heard.
It is
GORGEOUS! How can this song NOT make a heart happy!! :))
+meemster101 EXACTLY. Happy, i can hear intense happiness in this. Truly happy.
Organist E. Power Biggs once demonstrated Bach's propensity for joy by playing one of his gavottes - in which the organist literally "dances" the gavotte with his feet on the pedals.
Cause people are jerks
It's not a song...
Richter's tenure as the Kapellmeister of the Münchener Bachorchester was the finest classical music ever played live. I'll stake my life on it.
+Alex Tocqueville Your life is 100% safe, I believe ;-).
Alex Tocqueville Amen to that! My srntiments exactly. Just posted on fb how I noticed Meistro Richter's beautiful hands on a photo. Not to pick nits, because I agree, but is this not baroque and not classical?
Yes Baroque... The 'Classical' I used it as a generic rather than a specific musical epoque. Thanks, always willing to learn, I like to be corrected, no ego problem.☺
Maria Qberger I use the baroque term when it's tuned to A=415 or similar tuning
Karl Richter is always splendid.
Could just be my ancestry from Brandenburg, but this has always been a favorite of mine, ever since childhood when I'd listen to a clip of it over and over again on the old Microsoft Encarta 2000!
Simply sublime!! What an orchestra director... It's a pity his sudden loss...
I love Bach.
This is by far my favorite piece of baroque music. Beautiful performance. Thank you J.S. Bach.
What an incredible interpretation! All I can think is how proud Bach would be to hear these musicians play his work!
Music from Gods.
True. Bach said: " I make music for the glory of GOD ! " That is why GOD gave him inspiration
@@baptistchurch7341 nah, he is just bach, needs no inspiration from a non-existent god.
@@marcossidoruk8033 ok atheist 😳
Best radio station in the UK...Classic FM...always on in the car...pure bliss ;)
How I love Bach's music....
Karl Richter plays it so easily you'd almost think it was not real.
For a man who composed such a great volume of sacred music, the real divinity is listening to his secular work and accepting it is simply for the joy of music.
Utterly superb. Richter's interpretations are second to none.

Bach is my favourite composer
Karl Richter... THE BEST! He died too young!
6:39 = heaven. Blissful and otherwordly harmony on the strings combined with the Cembalo.
Que coisa maravilhosa !!! Uma canção que satisfaz a alma
it is hard to deal with how awesomely sublime this piece is.... it's humbling....a very high standard
Beautiful playing! They sound near perfect. Perfection of strings in this song! What talented artists!

+RODRIGOR300 If you are going to leave comments like that, I would recommend hip hop or rap for you. That would be about your speed.

Brandenburg Concerto #3 - 1st movement is my favorite. This performance is great. The performers do well with the dynamics.
