I’m not a guitar player but I still find the discussion about Fractal, Neural and Kemper interesting. A lot of friends are switching right now, and I can see that these are great tools for two kinds of players; the ones who need to cover a lot of different sounds, like someone playing on “The Voice” for example or in a regular Top 40 band (if these still exist), and for those who already have their sound, know exactly what they are looking for and need the convenience. On the other hand, I think it must be hard for someone who is still trying to develop his/her own voice with so many possibilities. I love guitar pedals for drums and synths, and I know that most of what they do can be done more easily in a DAW, but I’m overwhelmed by the endless possibilities when working with plug-ins, so the limitations of hardware are actually a blessing for me. But then again, I’m old 🙃. Anyway, great food for thought!
