Was thinking of an Alpine for over twice the price, you sold me on this. Love how open ended it is, basically an Android tablet.
Yes. It's a nice unit. I have one in every car I own
Just installed mine today. Only hiccup I had was my touchscreen controls were not working. Had to reset the device via the pin reset in the lower left corner. Works like a champ now.
Thanks for making a video showing this product. I ordered mines yesterday.
How was it
thanks for the video. Already on the website of joying to see a unit for my Seat Alhambra Van, absolutely amazing features.
Just bought this since I didn't need to replace the climate controls went with the 8g&128g version! Appreciate the indepth review.
You buy from their website? How long did it take for you to get it?
@@10lilzoe hey ! Yup from there website . It took a week ti get here via DHL
@@pasta0alfredo thanks! Should be here Monday for me!
@@10lilzoe how fast did you get tracking info?
Hi, how is it working after 8 months of using it… especially in winter since it’s covering some part of the vent. Thanks
SOLD! I was holding off on buying a 10” tablet style because of the vent blocking & no physical buttons and holding off on the 8” with the two knobs you mentioned because I wanted something a little more updated, so glad I waited. Going to purchase today
What civic model do you have?

Did you end up getting it? I ordered mine Sunday for my 2020 type r
@@mybloodtype_r I did
@@swilliams23 awesome working properly? How’s the external mic for calls? Thanks in advance
Thank you for this amazing video! I have a 2020 Civic Hatchback LX that came with that basic 4-inch OE screen that I've been wanting to swap out and this one seems like this one will do the job nicely. I love the easy installation instructions you gave amazing job man keep it up!
I think you will like it. Easy, great upgrade for the base model stereo.
any update on it? did you install it and if so does it work well
@JackofAllMasterofNone how do you unit has logos loaded mine only has a android logo would like to know how to add more though 🤔
I’m having a same issue just Android Logo
Did you guys use one back camera? Or new has to be installed ?
Very informative video, thanks for sharing.
Just bought one for my VW CC, can’t wait for it to get here! I will be disabling that awful beep tho 😂
Wish I did this and went down a model to the sport rather than an EX to get the sportier look and the other features lol. great video!
Awesome video man. Super cool setup
Appreciate it!
Thanks for the video man, really appreciate how in depth it was! How's the unit holding up for you currently, any issues at all?
Works great
This video was so helpful and answered most of my questions! Joying has a new update to the radios, can you make a video on how to update?
Fantastic review!
Just purchased the 9". today for my 2018 Honda Civic LX....I am excited about the purchase.
Nice!!
Joying was extremely quick about getting this unit out to me ; I ordered on 4/29...got it back on 5/6...so far impressive Customer Service. Thanks your video sealed the purchase for me....New Subscriber to your page
Can you choose a personalized wallpaper?
Yes you can. How you do it just depends on whether you got the Android 10 or Android 12 model. If it's the Android 10 you just long press on the screen and it will bring up the wallpaper setting. You can download live wallpapers from the play store or just use anything you want picture wise
The only problem I am having is that my wifi won't connect to Google. Any advice with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
I don’t see that static trace option on my unit 🤔 ..great video 🫡 you definitely helped me with installing and programming this unit
Good information…good video! Thanks man!
Just bought my hatchback. This is a very easy install. Thanks
Thanks to you i impulsed bought
Great walk-through of the installation. Just a question about whether you can change the theme or wallpaper to your choice? From other installation videos I've seen they all seem to keep the water background as if it cannot be changed.
It can be changed to whatever you want
Thank you for the review. I understand you’d mentioned about map not going into night mode automatically for Android Auto. But what about CarPlay, does the google or apple map go into night mode without having to manually set it every time?
It does..and there has been an update that fixed it with Android auto now too.
Looks cool, imma get one soon! Thx
This looks awesome! Do you know if it supports the passenger side lane switch camera for the higher trim civics?
It does.
What’s the size drill bit you’re using ?
Great review. I have bought for my Honda jazz in 10” and it’s great!!!!!!
Do you know where I can download the user manual? Thanks.
Do you have any recommendations for new live wallpapers, what app or website is best to download them?
Great video are on you still able to reset the tire pressure on this unit
Do you get complaints for sounding too low during a phone conversation? I have tried with and without the external mic and still get complaints that people can not hear me well. Just wondering if there’s a setting somewhere I’m not seeing to increase the mic volume. Thx
I have not had any complaints but honestly I don't use the Bluetooth phone much
Does this have any audio delay over Bluetooth or wireless CarPlay? The OEM head unit has an annoying few seconds audio delay over Bluetooth
Same thing with me
Wow that looks great
Thanks! So helpful
I got mines and I love it
I have one of these. My only thing is the ac unit controls are wonky when on Bluetooth calls and the ringtone for Android auto is ridiculously loud. Can't edit ringtone.
Did the igo offline gps app come pre installed with this headunit? If not how did u install it?
Had a question in regards to the reverse camera. I'm not allowed to switch to the different camera angels as well as the camera lines staying static. Any help would be appreciated
Same lines are static and don’t move with steering wheel
Hi! Since making this video, how has the radio held up? What are the drawbacks after using it in your (daily) use?
Excellent. No issues.
Thanks for this video very informative. I bought the unit and love it but one thing that bothers a lot is the unit is displaying 8:30 and my speedometer clock is showing 20:30. Do you happen to know a fix? Thanks in advance
Which features from stock radio don't work? Cameras? Vehicle settings? Oil reset? TPMS calibration? etc...
Looking forward to order it for my 2019 civic. My ts8 suck compare to this
I just purchased and installed the 10.1 version for my 2019 pilot. After the initial install everything worked as expected, then it switched to viewing the rear view camera (while the car is in park) and now it will not do anything other and displaying the rear view. I’ve tried resetting it, unplugging, etc. But every time it boots right up and instantly goes to viewing the rear view. Getting support from
Joying is a little difficult. Any idea what may be wrong? Or how I can force the system to go to the Home Screen?
Sounds like a problem with the canbus interface. It's outputting a constant trigger to the head unit most likely.
Hi, I have the sport touring hatchback model. I installed everything properly, but my radio has terrible reception and always cuts in and out & has lots of static when driving. Can you please point me in the right direction on what I did wrong?
Sounds like the powered antenna is not wired properly. There is a blue wire on the antenna harness that must be plugged into the blue antenna wire coming out of the radio harness. Also, it should be turned on in the settings as well. The factory antenna has a powered amplifier that gets it's power from the radio.
Thanks for the video….does your headunit or canbus make a ticking sound?
No
Is everyone using their phones as a hot spot? Or using a sim card? Or manual plugging in their phone for the head unit wi-fi.
Hey can anyone help… my radios touchscreen won’t work anymore. The screen isn’t frozen it’s just none of the buttons when I press will do anything anymore. It there a fix for this?
Awesome video. I just got the head unite and just installed everything works but the usb ports now always has power is there a way to cut power when the radio turns off?
It should turn off with the radio.
How did you hook up your camera can’t get mine to come up on screen
Great video. Touch tones mightve loosened a screw in my head though
🤣
AWESOME VIDEO! This is super tempting! I have a 2018 Si and I HATE how LAGGY the "premium" touch screen is. Their website says it will only support up to a 64GB USB memory stick. Have you tried anything larger?
I have not tried anything larger
Great Video. Im thinking of buying a new head unit for my 2021 honda civic ex hatchback, just for ease of running a sub without having to cut wiring harness. is there any reason to not install this in an ex?
No that I can think of. It's a very nice unit
Hello there!! Thank you for this amazing video!! I can’t get the H for Honda logo to work
Anyone able to get "lane keep assist" working on Civic with this model? I have 2017 touring and it doesn't turn on when I press it on my steering wheel. Seems cruise control doesn't work either.
Try clicking the button on the left side near the door
Got mine installed today same unit but for a 2020 ex crv . The only issue I’m having is back up camera is static and not clear and guide lines don’t move. also no option on difficult angles. I checked all the setting you showed but nothing. Any ideas?
The lines don't move on the 2019 & 2020 CRV for some reason. The reason the camera isn't super clear is due to the Honda camera having a low resolution. It's not the head unit.
Just curious are you able to disable the spinning cover art on that screen @ 24:35? I'm sure you would get used to it if you couldn't. I'm just a less is more type of guy.
No you can not
My steering wheel doesn’t move with back up lines (tried playing with factory settings, static trace on and off and it won’t move) is there a wire missing???
Did it before you installed it? It seems to depend on the model year.
I recently purchased and installed the higher memory version of this unit because of your video so thanks. Came from China but didn't take a month. 2 Weeks tops from their ebay store. I see you drilled into the usb trim to pass the usb cable. What kind of drill bit is that?
It is just a step bit. Can get them at home Depot or Lowe's.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone Thanks! Is it a specific size you used or?
Great video man. Any chance you will be doing a video on how to install a new subwoofer with this unit?
No sorry. But it's just like installing a subwoofer on any other aftermarket stereo
Just bought and installed this in my 14 Civic Coupe Si and love it. I’m trying to add the joying AR reverse camera and can’t seem to get it to work tho.
The AR camera is only compatible with the new Android 12 models I think.
Does this work with the side camera for turning? I didn’t see that shown in the video. Thanks for sharing the video. I wanna try this out this week.
I don't have that feature but it does support it
Hey man, thanks for the video and thorough install! I was curious how you wired up to your aftermarket amp? I currently have an aftermarket amp, sub, and LC2I. Any input would be very much appreciated!
It has a regular mono RCA output for the sub. You can split that if you have a stereo input on your sub amp. The Joying also has an amp remote wire just like any other aftermarket stereo that you can use for the remote line for the sub amp. You won't need the LC2i with this unit. The Joying has very good built in controls for the sub. You can set low pass and high pass and gain all from the audio settings. I ran power directly to the battery, fused at the battery.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone thanks for the response man! so you’re saying convert the two stereo rca to a single to plug into the back of the head unit or use the +- speaker to go to the head unit? I have a Rockford Fosgate 500x1D currently. I got the sound to work finally but the sound, sounds very low quality and muffled right now. I assume it’s not using my amp?
I recently recived mine (with factory amp option) , but I can hear hiss noise even with the volume at 0. Someone knows how to solve it?
Can anyone share a link to where I can purchase one those screens. Need a replacement I guess.
on a LX 2018 model, with this, will i be able to retain OEM backup camera? do i need any special adapters? or plug n play?
Yes. Plug and play
How’s this unit holding up?
Does it have wiring diagram for connection. I have 2016 LX canada. It have the computer with lots of wiring, which is in the link. Refers to no. B for wirings. Or if you can guide me somehow. Thanks
I would reach out to Joying directly to verify what you need to do. As long as you order the correct kit it will fit plug and play
Does anyone know what the USB adapter type is called? I cant find it anywhere
I saw you played a flac file, but I haven't found anything (like a downloadable manual) that says what types it can play and what quality (96, 128 higher? or DSD).
It will play pretty much anything you can throw at it stock and if it doesnt, you can download whatever Android program will play it. It has the processing power to do anything that the most powerful Android phone can do.
I just bought this for my subaru. I'm hoping the connections are easy. Do you know if the device can switch between Radio and Sirius XM? Is there a button for that?
There is no Sirius radio on Joying stereos unless you have an aftermarket Sirius XM receiver and connect it to the line in port.
Does buying a joyous head unit for the civic allow to not have to buy a physical hardware DSP? Is one better than the other?
Because of your reviews, I’m sending back my Te’Yes CC3, and buying a Joying
Im getting this 😍
nice unit for sure
Hi, I installed a Joying unit into my 2016 Honda Ridgeline, big improvement. The only thing is my steering wheel controls for volume , etc do not work. Have you had this problem ?
Did you use the Honda Pilot specific Joying stereo or just a universal one? If you used a universal one you will need a canbus interface. If you used the pilot one with the canbus adapter, it probably just needs the car model set correctly. You would have to reach out to Joying on that. I'm not sure if the Ridgeline is supported or not
Hey man after your review I definitely want this inside my 18’ lx civic, I’m on Joyings website about to order the device but it’s asking me if I ny model car has factory amplifier and I honestly don’t know, I have an amp and subs in my trunk but it’s not factory, and asks did you get the TPMS and OBD2 (diagnostic scan function) kit with it as well? There is a option to add them on for a small fee. Also how to you run the wiring to the microphone and will my steering wheel buttons still work after I install the Joying head unit
If you have an LX you don't have the factory amp. I wouldnt worry about the tpms or OBD2 stuff now. You can add it on later if you want. The tpms is more for cars that don't have factory tpms, but you do. Also the OBD2 reader uses Bluetooth to send info to your head unit using the Torque app. It's ok but I never use it. Just depends on you.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone I took apart my head unit to see how it was set up because I have subs and amp in my trunk and I have the same connections as you, I thought I might have extra wires due to the speaker and amp but I guess they have the amp and speaker tired into the car another way, so my subs should work fine once I install the need head unit ? No need for extra harnesses for the subs?
@@damonpayne4590 Probably have a line out converter hooked up to your rear speaker wires. So yeah, you don't need anything else if that's the case. Might be better if you ran an RCA cable but it won't make that much of a difference.
do I have to plug in the antenna? I'm getting white noise on what otherwise would be a local radio station
Yes. There is a adapter. You have to plug in the antenna and make sure the blue antenna wire is connected properly. Hondas have an external antenna amplifier.
Is it me or did the reverse lines kinda get messed up. Was that how they looked for you before?
Was just wondering. Does the audio sound better with this aftermarket head unit with the stock speakers ?
100 times better. No need for aftermarket speakers in my opinion. Once you get the EQ dialed in, it sounds amazing.
Is there a quick and easy way to completely turn the screen off/on (not the unit) for those road trips at night? I've found other brands allow it after digging in the menus and clicking several times in a user unfriendly way.
It's always welcome to be able to do it quickly while driving in case you want to check your navigation app, open another app, etc.
Thanks, great video.
Pull down from top of screen and select the screen off option. It blacks out the screen. Just tap to bring it back.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone Awesome, thank you!
Hi. Great video. Did you use a dash kit to install your radio?
It's all plug and play. No dash kit required
Hey how did you get the wired auto carplay to work? I've tried using an aftermarket cable and the official apple cable but I still can't get the wired carplay to work. It only works in wireless mode
I'm not sure what your issue is. It just worked in my car. Be sure it's connected to the "OTG" USB port on the back of the radio
@@JackofAllMasterofNone This fixed my problem. Thank you
Same here
In the backup camera, is there a way to remove the UI?
cuz I thought it would look better without the car and the lines
oh nevermind, I saw later in the video now u actually can, very neat!
We just stumbled upon your video and wanted to see if you knew if the firmware was still working for a 2016 Honda CRV EX? I would love to do this to my car but the links you provided give me an error message. Thank you!!

How can you program the steering wheel make a video I have my volume opposite side help thanks
In the factory settings menu you can switch the orientation of the volume.
Having trouble with my camera views. Number 1 camera looks choppy. Number 2 I have no extra features or camera views. Any pointers.
Hey quick question which one did you choose? A,B,C? Does A have the plug for the camera? Or do you buy that separately
On the website it tells you which is which
does it fit in 2021 civic 1.8L ORIEL Varient in Pakistan?
What's the adapter to make sure my factory back up camera will work after installation called?
I don't think there is a specific name..it comes with the stereo from Joying. It's part of the main canbus adapter harness
I have an EX-L with backup camera and lane assist (passenger side camera). I was only able to connect the backup camera. Does anybody know where or how to get the lane assist camera to work? Idk if i was missing something
If you got the stereo with the correct harness there should be another video (yellow RCA) connector coming out of the harness. Plug that in to the video in port on the back of the head unit and change the car make option to turn on the side view camera.
How do I get the resolution to the 12080x800 for the boot logo. It will only allow me to use the "powered by Android" boot logo
I think one of the newest software updates will not allow a custom boot logo.
When you installed in did the volume knob work right away? I noticed that my volume knob doesn’t work when I turn the volume up and down but when I press the knob it mutes and unmutes. I just thought that was weird. Also my reverse parking lines don’t move at all even with the trace off. I’m guessing it’s depending on what canbus setting it is at?
Reverse lines don't work on many years of Honda. The volume control may be defective. It should work out of the box.
I spent hours messing with this unit. You might need to turn on the physical volume knob In the settings under "Factory". Mine worked out of the box but the knob functionality can be turned on or off.
Also, all the settings for the reverse cam can be adjusted in settings.
@@rheyrhey3210 hey my friend i got problem with the volume control. can you help me pls
@@jeinsrivas3524 Whats the problem you are having?
Just installed into my 2019 LX and I’m finding that it turns off on its own. The system turns off and immediately the startup logo is displayed then it returns to Home Screen. It seems to shutoff at random times. I double checked the wiring to see if anything was loose or in the wrong place and problem continues to happen.
Sounds like a defective unit or bad connection. They don't normally have any problems at all.
I have the same model civic, when you ordered the unit did you add any of the optional accessories? Or did it ship with everything needed to maintain full functionality?
Didn't buy any options. It comes with everything needed to replace stock stereo and function great
@@JackofAllMasterofNone thanks man appreciate the reply
Great video! You seem to be very knowledgeable on this sort of thing. I just installed the same unit this past weekend in my 2020 Civic LX. Everything works well, except the volume up/down are reversed on my steering wheel. Any idea how to correct this? TIA.
Go to settings. Then select "Factory". Then enter password 3368. Then select "Original Car Agreement". Then scroll down to "Reversal Volume" and turn it either on or off depending on the current setting. That will fix the issue.
That worked great! Thanks!
great vid, was wondering did you have it shipped from the us or china ¿
Mine came from China directly via DHL airmail. Took about 4 days
How does the ac feel? I been wanting to get one but all i see are those that have a bit of ac blockage
Didn't notice any difference. This one doesn't really block the AC like the larger one does.
How do you change the home screen apps? I want to get rid of the radio and music player.
Press and hold and drag to red x
great installation video!!! can you tell me this new joying unit playing music while the screen completely turn off? I mean back light off, thanks!
Yes. You can black the screen with anything playing on the unit. It's it the drop down menu
@@JackofAllMasterofNone thank you very much!!!!
Watched your video (and similar ones) and installed one of these in my 2017 Sport. Overall I *love* it, however it doesn't seem to be talking to canbus yet. Steering wheel volume not working, backup camera lines don't curve, etc. I never used any of those in the first place, so it's not a big deal, but if you know any ideas off the top of you head it'd be appreciated. Even then, this unit is ten times better than the clunky radio which was there before.
It's probably as simple as just going into the factory settings menu and choosing the car model. Make sure it is set up for a Honda Civic your year range
Any idea how to factory reset the radio? I’m trying to bring it back to its default settings but I don’t know how
Why do you want to factory reset?
Hi I have successfully installed this and love it, but for some reason I can't change the Celsius to Fahrenheit in my system even though I enable the switch. I have a 2018 Civic Hatchback Sport Touring. Any advice?? Could it be due to canbus? Thanks!
If you mean the display on the A/C controls pop up, yes it is a bug in the new UI operating system. I reported it to Joying already but I don't think they truly understand the issue yet, possibly due to a language barrier and the fact that the rest of the world uses Celsius instead of Farenheight. They gave me some things to try, but as you mentioned they don't work.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone guess I will have to learn Celsius LOL
@@JackofAllMasterofNone also do you know if there's any way to bring notifications to the head unit? It seems there's not notification center...the OEM headunit had one though
I just installed a Joying unit in my 2018 Ridgeline, and I have the same problem. I haven't had any luck with it.
