Great rendition. Simple and in no hurry...that is the way the song was intended to be performed and it is performed with respect to the song's roots. The real and right stuff.
I heard this song for the first time when my uncle and his five year old daughter sang it in a room with just a few family members present. It was wonderful.
In 1938 my Dad,his Sister Nellie and Brother James auditioned for a radio show on WPTF radio in Raleigh NC doing this song...My Aunt Nellie got choked trying to swallow and breathe to keep up and they didn't get on. I remember many Sunday afternoons at my Granny Emory's house in Durham, they and my Uncle "Bud" would "pick and grin" Wish I could go back and hear them once again
I was okay when I heard the news this morning. Then NPR played 'Farewell Blues'... I admit it. I just cried. Thanks for everything, Earl. You were the best of the best.
Paul Fitts Yes he can Paul. I enjoy watching him play the guitar almost as much as the banjo. Earl said in a interview if he has his banjo & guitar sitting together and was ask to pick one to play, he would pick the guitar every time. Miss these guys so much. I lived in Nashville for 38 years and attended many entertainers funerals but Earl's touched my heart. He made a huge contribution to music and is still missed by so many of us today.
2 Peter 3:10-18 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
hallelujah.... praise GOD.... be ready... That Day is closing in... he will set this world on fire. Know JESUS. Beautiful rendition....
Lester singing magnificent harmony. What an incredible voice. Pure southern tone.

Not to mention that from what I've heard, he was one of the nicest guys you could know.
The song is "He will set your fields on fir, Not "You set your fields on fire".
