  • What's the big deal with the E3D REVO and Revo Micro? Well, it's light and well-designed! Let's look at it and compare it to other hotends I have on hand.
    NOTE! The end of the video shows the REVO in a modified AfterBurner Mini! Super nice setup!

    Hey! That's my mount design, awesome! There will be a V2 where you lose a bit less z build height. I think I can gain a couple millimeters back. There will also be a Revo Voron heatsink that is compatible with the standard mini afterburner. But that has not been released yet. Also, about the nozzles. As far as I know E3D is working on the ObXidian nozzles which is their next gen Nozzle X if that's what I can call it. These will become available in the future, but we need a little bit more patience for that. Thanks for using my mount and happy printing!

      Hopefully your happy to see it in the wild! Its quite nice. I'm fine losing a few mm on this tiny thing. I did find that the older for the 12mm nut was VERY tight. I ended up sanding down the factory nut a bit to make it fit well. I almost considered just modifying your file with m12 threads and ditching the factory nut. I'm all about trying things before I mess with them, it I didn't add threads! Great to hear about E3D doing hardened nozzles. I must have missed the news. I'm trying to get setup as a tester for them, I submitted an NDA last week.
      THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE MOUNT!

      @@BuildItBasement I actually tried the printed thread myself. After going trough it with a tap it was still very tight. That's the main reason for this design. Also, thanks for your input. I'll make sure to make the slot a bit bigger in V2. It was a snug fit on mine, but other machines print with other tolerances so I'll try to make it work for everyone. Thanks!

      What did you modify, by how much? I'll do a print tonight when I get home.

      @@BuildItBasement I've enlarged the slot so it is a slightly loose fit. Like that it will work on printers with big and small tolerances.

    Nice video! I'm curious about that tiny fan the Micro has. Is it loud?
    It seems it'd be whiny.

    • @BuildItBasement
      @BuildItBasement  2 роки тому

      It is a little loud due to the speed it needs to produce airflow. It can be adjusted down in software. 75-80% seems to work well w/o causing heat creep. I'm not using the included fan in my setup. I should soon receive my E3D REVO Voron. I'll up some content on it when it arrives. It will be part of my Voron 2.4 upgrade/rebuild series.

    Hardened nozzles are in the works, they will be available at some point, E3D has told that already. What they will be is still unknown unfortunately as far as I know.

      Looks like others are saying they will have ObXidian (2nd gen of the Nozzle X) in the next couple of months. Thanks for the info share!

    This might be a stupid question. But I'd really love the micro version. But this seems to be just the shroud. Where can I find what I need to complete the project? Like extruder and motor etc. I think I've looked at this before but couldn't figure it out. Thank you.

    • @BuildItBasement
      @BuildItBasement  Рік тому +1

      Todd. The extruder used is the same as the one used in the standard V0. The Micro just mates to the shroud, the extruder, stepper and other parts get connected to the shroud. I have a video on my V0 build series where I put it all together, however, I do use a REVO Voron on the video. Aside from the type of Revo and the mini afterburner shroud, everything else stays the same

    It's a sweet bit of tech. The other comparison you forgot is that they were all aftermarket except the garbage ender part that costs 5 bucks and kills birds and cats. What do you do with your printers? What made you get your first one amd what keeps you in 3d printing as a hobby? I'm not trolling my friend it's just something I like to ask other people who like me who want strong, better , hotter, faster haha. Cool channel man. I gotta give ya props for the 2.4 build. Anyone who gets stuck can refer to your videos as a great resource.

      First, thanks! I'm not exactly sure if the birds and cats thing, but hey, it's called Ender. As for a reason? It's a hobby like another, now compounded with making videos. I personally have a huge scope of interest, some fall in the troth printing makes, others not so much. I like to be able to print precision parts for repairs and projects. Having the capability to print with ABS and even PC is awesome. I have printed printer parts (obviously), parts to hold electronics projects, this for my children, and items for my wife. In retrospect, I've printed a lot of stuff! My Ender had been a workhorse, it's the printer that got me going. After updating the controller and upgrading that to Klipper, I was hooked on working with the actual printers.

      @@BuildItBasement cool man, same as me. The cats and birds thing is about the off gassing of ptfe when it melts at high temps. It was a joke, sorry man I figured you heard it before. It was also an acknowledgement that stock is shit. Melting plastic in plastic. I have an ender 3 but it has an orbital extruder and a microswiss plus more money than it was was worth poured into it haha I bought it new in pieces last year in a sale. It's been a fun project printer. It's only good for pla and it's ilk but it prints perfectly, even on standard you can't see a layer line anywhere on the z axis. Took alot of time to get it there. I've got other printers too but I'm currently self sourcing the parts for a v2.4. It was a dumb idea but I'm so deep in it now that it's hard to turn back lol I've got more metric hardware than ali express haha. Anyway, I ask that question to see why people got into printing. It interests me. I got into it out of necessity building things that started life on breadboard(s). Keep up the great work brother. Sorry if the cat thing threw ya off

      NO worries - I would do more on other topics, however I don't want to alienate the printer folks. Funny you mention the breadboard, I was playing around with an old 300-in-1 electronics kit with my son yesterday. I cut my teeth on building and making back in the later 80's. At the age of ~12 I was etching PCB boards with acid in the bathroom. That stuff made a mess! Today I also do electronics, home theater, computers, graphics, home automation, and arcades. I have built up enough hardware parts to start any Voron build at this point. When I need 10 screws, I order 100. Hell the price difference is usually pennies. Anyways, stay in touch. My email address is on the channel and I'm always down for a question or a chat.

      @@BuildItBasement cool man. We're alot alike. I do alot of stuff with leds, I have tens of thousands and all different kinds. I'm jealous of that old electronics kit. I grew up in a place where the nearest radio shack was 4 hours away haha take care man.

    That's why i don't buy it, there are no alternative nozel to the brass one

    • @BuildItBasement
      @BuildItBasement  Рік тому

      They are coming... Slowly... But they do need to come from E3D. The obsidian nozzle should already be out, I've been holding my breath waiting. With the brass and obsidian, you really shouldn't need much else.
